The redhead is back! ABC has confirmed that Kate Walsh, whose spin-off Private Practice is on hiatus until fall, will return to Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Addison Montgomery for one episode this spring, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Executive Producer Shonda Rhimes is still fleshing out the script, so no word yet on when Kate Walsh’s episode will air or what the premise will be.

ABC will air five original episodes of Grey’s Anatomy beginning April 24.

The last time Kate Walsh (as Dr. Addison Montgomery-Shepherd) was seen walking the hallways of Seattle Grace was in the series premiere of Private Practice, which is the 2007-08 season’s second most-watched new drama.

In the Private Practice pilot, Addison said a tearful goodbye to Seattle Grace to start a new life at Oceanside Wellness Center in Southern California.

The amazing Grey’s Anatomy star Sandra Oh, who we see far too little of on our homepage, will be hosting the biggest night in Canadian film.

The Canadian actress of Korean descent will grace the stage at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre Monday, March 3, to host the 28th annual Genie Awards.

No stranger to the Genies, Sandra Oh has previously won two awards for her roles in “Double Happiness” and “Last Night.”

The talented Oh, who we know as Dr. Cristina Yang, has also won a Golden Globe, a Screen Actors Guild award, and a Cannes FIPA d’Or.

In her native Canada, Grey’s Anatomy airs on CTV.

“It is an absolute honour to have Sandra Oh as the host for the Genie Awards,” said Sara Morton, CEO for the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television.

The press release continued: “Her award-winning accomplishments as an actor in film, TV and theatre, both at home and abroad, are a testament to the kind of talent that Canada has become famous for around the world.”

Oh and the rest of the Grey’s Anatomy cast will soon be back in production with the writers strike over. New episodes will air in April.

We’re not sure what she’s carrying (a lighting fixture is our guess), but Katherine Heigl looked terrific as she went shopping Monday in West Hollywood.

Perhaps not as gorgeous as she looked during the Academy Awards (Katie was on more than one Best Dressed list), but the Grey’s Anatomy star can do casual, too.

Looks like T.R. Knight is off the market.

The Emmy-nominated Grey’s Anatomy star, who plays George O’Malley, stepped out with boyfriend Mark Cornelsen during the 2008 Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Party held at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood on Sunday.

It appears Joshua Jackson’s Grey’s Anatomy guest starring turn has ended before it began, and once again, the writers’ strike is to blame.

Michael Ausiello of TV Guide has the scoop, and as he puts it:

“Grey’s Anatomy announced last fall that the ex-Dawson’s Creek-er would be joining the cast for a multi-episode arc as a doctor and, as I would later report, a love interest for Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh). Unfortunately, just weeks before he was scheduled to shoot his first episode, the writers went on strike and Joshua Jackson’s stint, just like the TV biz itself, was put on hold.”

Cut to present day: The strike is over, Grey’s Anatomy is headed back into production (due back April 24) but Jackson is no longer available.

During the work stoppage, J.J. Abrams hand-picked the actor to headline his new X-Files style Fox series, Fringe, which is currently in production in Toronto (and will be through mid-March). Although an attempt was made to make scheduling work for Josh Jackson to do both, the logistics proved too daunting in the end.

Now Grey’s Anatomy is forced to either recast the role or scrap it.

An ABC spokesperson declined to comment, but a Seattle Grace insider says a final decision will likely be made in the coming days.

Any suggestions for a Josh Jackson replacement? Who would be a great new love interest for Cristina? Much as many of us surely (and understandably) want to throw out the name Isaiah Washington, let’s focus on new ideas…
