  1. jeremiah Says:

i feel like this whole thing about petitions and blah blah blah is a mess. doesn't anyone see the irony in writing a petition to STRIKING writers about meredith being whiny? you're whining! all these posts after posts about derek becoming boring and all that crap is whining!

look, no one is forcing any of you to watch this show. if it's not entertaining to you anymore, then stop watching. you're all missing the point of these characters. it's called evolution. these characters have evolved and you don't like that. that's fine. you don't have to like it. but if you're THAT "in love" with the show, then accept that these characters are different. people become different. they grow and change as life happens to them.

everyone is complaining about meredith being self-involved and whiney. does anyone remember how in season two she watched a man blow up?? i don't know about any of you, but i sure know that would affect me. i'd say that'd be life-changing. or i'd at least be different after that, that's for sure. and then to almost die and lose your mother. all that is life-altering. all those things change you. let meredith be changed. let her be who she is. if she ends up with derek, then she ends up with derek. if she keeps standing in her own way, then that's part of her. that's not being self-involved. that's being her own person. her own character. you want her and derek to be together and be happy and have no problems and just be a couple?? have you been even watching?! NOTHING about their characters have shown viewers that they can be together without countless issues and problems arising. that goes all the way back to season one episode one! if they got together and stayed together and didn't have problems, the damn show would be over.

the show isn't "dark." people have just gotten it in their heads that they don't like this character or that character for this or that reason and then they don't even notice all the other stuff that goes on in the show. you want it all to be RIGHT NOW and ignore that things don't even happen RIGHT NOW in real life! how can you call the evolution of meredith and lexie's relationship dark? it's natural!

nothing is perfect. like i said, if the show doesn't speak to you anymore, then don't watch it. leave it. but it does speak to me. it speaks to a lot of people. no, i'm not a doctor. hell, i haven't even graduated from college, but the way that the writers use something as profound and complicated to parrallel life... that's amazing. surgery is bloody, it's tough and sometimes it doesn't always end up well in the end. when things turn out great, there's still all that blood and cutting along the way. the good comes at a cost, and this show shows that.

    quit bitching about it.

  2. Meg Says:

you all need to get a life...it's a T.V. show...its NOT the real world..the writers can do whatever they want..the show was great and now it sucks..move on with your lives and stop living in a dream world...there is no such thing as a McDreamy..woman live in a fantasy world where they wish for a prince charming...get out in the real word and find someone that fits with you and treats you right...stop living through made up relationships on T.V....it really is just sad..and so is this petition..I can't believe I just spent 2 minutes of my life writing this but it just needs to be said..you all need to get a life

  3. confused Says:

Why does everyone think that the show will not work any more if MER and DER get together. They will still have PROBLEMS, Fights & lots of drama, but what would be nice to see is that their characters would grow and actually figure out how to weather the storms together. They need to make a rule- (from I think season 1) No matter what our problem we don't say I'm done....it's so over! Shondra hinted that there is a storm brewing for MERDER and that there will be a BIG FIGHT to resolve some of the issues.
Why can't Der build his dream house?
Why can't they really live together like Christina and Burke? Even when those 2 were not even speaking to each other they always went home. Really that dysfunctional relationship would have even worked because even though it took a while- one of them would give in and make it work eventually. (and it was usually Christina) If Burke's actor hadn't gotten canned those 2 might have made it to the alter. Christina was willing to marry Burke BUT SHE NEVER WANTED THAT HUGE CHURCH WEDDING! Yes she was stressed becasue she was doing the whole church thing for him. Christina was commited to him and didn't need a piece of paper to prove it but was willing to sacrifice her own feelings to give Burke what he wanted. Isn't that what love is all about?
In a world of the drive thru Divorce wouldn't be great to see a couple make it even through iand still like and love each other. Look at the movie the "Notebook" I loved that scene where he tells her "That's what we do ...WE fight. Basically that she can be a real pain in the ass sometimes but that he loves all of her. It won't be easy but I want you!" Then you see that they made it and he still loves her at the end of their life together with the same intensity as when they were young and so "in love" That is the magic that I want to see. I will tune in to see that kind of relationship! Hell MERDER would be the only relationship at Grey's that isn't divorced!

  4. Jenn Says:

It's lame. These people want the show to be a fairy tale. It's a drama, not a romantic comedy. If you want McDreamy to be McHappilyEverAfter, then go watched Enchanted.

Additionally, part of the fun of the show is that someone else is writing, creating and thinking the ideas up. If Shonda listened to everything her fans suggested not only would the show be a mess, but it would be totally predictable.

I'm not saying I'm in love with the show anymore, it really went downhill in Season 3, but Season 4 is better so far and probably will continue to get better if the writer's strike ever ends...

  5. confused Says:

    Why can't we have both?
    Drama and the fairy tale?
Most of us have the drama in our lives already?
It is nice to know that someone experiences more drama than my life.
BUT a little fantasy world is a nice escape from the everyday!
Isn't that why we watch! Escape and entertainment!

  6. Gabby Says:

here is my thought - Unfortunately there are many relationships that do go through crap just like Meredith and Derricks relationship - not so much the crazy situations - but the emotional side of things - and as stupid as it may seem - there are people out there who watch the show and want beyond all hope for Meredith and Derrick to get together and make their relationship work - because it gives them hope that things can work out in their own life - I am not saying it is rational or even understandable - but you do have to acknowledge the fact that this show hits home with a lot of people and they can relate - that's one of the reasons this show has been such a huge success - anyway, thats just my opinion - I am sure someone has a wonderfully smart a** comment to leave about my post - go ahead - its an opinion - you don't agree:)

  7. Hayley Says:

I agree with confused, we can have both but with Shonda, we get constant despair. The beautiful love story with George and Izzie was the one thing keeping me tuned in, now that she has dropped them and is going back it seems to the pukefest that is Lexzie, I can finally cut the cord and never watch again.

  8. JenniLynn Says:

Is Grey's my favorite show? You bet! Have I been dissapointed? You bet! However, that is life. Life has dissapointments. Life has bad timing. Everything is not perfect. I agree that it has been hard to watch our beloved Mcdreamy move on. Again that happens sometimes in our lives. Sometimes the truth hurts. The storylines have been a little hard to follow in season 4, but Shonda has to build back what was torn down in season 3. I feel that we as fans are upset that 1/10/08 episode was dissapointing because we don't know when we will see our beloved characters again. We are being ripped off because we have only half of the season completed. All of us would much rather watch Grey's than a bunch of lame reality tv. We can only hope that there is an end in sight for the writers strike. I guess we have to remember that we didn't see a season finale. We have a lot to look forward to in the future. Lets try to remain optimistic. I am going to keep on watching my favorite show. Even though sometimes it is hard to watch. I guess that is what makes us want to watch it. You can't predict what is in store for our beloved characters. If we could predict it why would we want to watch? By the way...One reason I know that Grey's still has a lot to offer us is...Everyone is still talking about it. If no one cared then it would be the end of it.

  9. seriously? Says:

Shonda et al. are masters at planting seeds for a couple of unspectacular episodes and then flinging open the greenhouse doors to reveal exploding bloom after bloom in one brilliant moment.

It's coming. Trust that it is.

And if you think you can do better, create your own damn show.

  10. Shel Says:

Academically, Derrick is now officially a manipulative bitch. After all, turnabout is fair play. The writers have recreated the Hathaway-Ross relationship from ER, only switched the genders. Instead of a woman in love chasing after a man in love, but who won't commit, they have made Derrick as the sensitive one and Merideth as the cold one. If Hathaway had pulled out house plans to create a negative reaction from Ross, then used that reaction to prove he wouldn't commit, she would have been (rightly) called a manipulative bitch and been portrayed as scheming. There would be backlash against her character for tricking Ross into initiating a breakup so she could date someone else with a clear conscience. What Rimes and the other writers have forgotten is that turnabout really is fair play and that their audience will feel that way about ANY character that acts in such a way, no matter the gender. Officially, Derrick has become a manipulative bitch and the backlash should have been expected.

  11. I finally get it! Says:

I think I finally figured it out!
I went to the ABC website to see which rerun was going to be on tonight and happened to see the break-up scene between the two of them again. I had a totally different take about it tonight than I did the night I watched it. The first time I watched it I was mad- Here we go again. Same old/ same old- been there done that so stop already. They are NEVER going to get together! I didn't really hear them.

This time I thought- I agree with what MER is saying to DER and I think she nailed it right on the head. DER on the other hand basically admits that the plans were a test and that he KNEW she would fail because she is not ready. SO MER'S conclusion that he just wants to be married to someone is dead on and since she is not ready he is going to find someone that is because DER has not really realized yet that MER is the ONLY one for him. He's sad and pitiful looking because it is painful breaking-up with her but he THINKS that the house, wife, and kids are what is going to make him happy. MER has grown and realizes that she only wants DER but I think now on her terms. The first time I was frustrated that MER didn't look sad about it- almost a little cocky/mad. Like I challenge you to go ahead and try and get that dream without me. Now what I wish MER would have done is just said, DER I don't want to end it- all I am asking for is time to build a relationship that will last- I want you! He would have probably still have ended it and asked Rose out on a date because he thinks it will make him feel better and he wants to HURT/punish MER for the way she is killing him by not agreeing to his terms. The thing with Rose is for a different reason-DER has to realize that his DREAM will not work with just anyone- He needs to figure out that he will only truly be happy when he makes it work with MER! I was right it was DER'S character that has some more growing to do. DANG- Shondra's is giving me what I want and I didn't even know it!
DER just needs to do this thing with Rose so that they can finally be together.

As someone said earlier- this was never supposed to be the season finale.

I also liked the rerun last night because knowing where the characters are today-I have a better understanding about how the events of tonight impacted what happened to them down the road. Maybe will all need to just watch the reruns so that we can appreciate the show even more than we already do.

This is why the show is great! The story line is deeper than we give her credit for! I did realize that I like watching the show better on DVD because the story lines flow and are not as choppy as on the weekly show.

  12. Kayte Says:

I agree with the one person that said that Season 2 was the best. Season 3 was decent and 4 is just seems to have gotten a bit twisted and diluted when it comes to where the storylines are going. In Season 2, it seemed that there was always an interesting twist and turn- Mer and the bomb, Denny and Izzy. Now it just seems that whoever is writing for the show is more interested in keeping the storylines within the charactors. I don't think there has been a really memorable "temp" charactor like (and honestly I'm having the biggest brain fart here, LOL) bomb guy and Denny. Now it's Izzie and George, how confused Christina is after Burke and with the addition of Hahn, and all this convoluted mess with Mer and Der. Like come on, get back to what drew everyone to continue watching the show in the first place. Get back to the EXCITING grey's and not this weepy, depressing version that we have been fed lately. Don't get me wrong, I love this show- it is the only show that I consistently (well not as of late, since I've see every repeat and, love it as I do, really don't want to sit through another watching of an episode that I have seen) sit down and watch. I just miss all the daring stuff that was in Season 2. Maybe when the writers figure out the strike and get back, they should sit through a night of watching that Season and then compare what is missing in the next 2 seasons. Maybe they will see what went downhill.

  13. kris Says:

you know what the real problem with grey's anatomy this season is, in my opinion, there is no preston burke a.k.a issiah washington. that was the BIGGEST MISTAKE! firing him. the show had a dynamic flow with ALL its principle characters, and once he left the show was never the same. i read an article with patrick dempsey in a magazine and he said it best. the whole situation is sad because preston burke was a beautiful character that didn't get a chance to be explored fully, and the fans lost out. i really believe that to be true. the office politics should have been dealt with and everyone should have moved on, out of respect for the loyal fans and for the integrity of what grey's anatomy was.

  14. ihaterose Says:

    i've just signed the petition...whatever

  15. McLefty Says:

While I'll admit I am very sad that Rose could possibly more than just a few dreamy glances and a kiss for Derek, I think it's something he needs to do, and that Meredith needs to experience so that they can see how much they truly mean to each other. Also, in the petition, the writers said something about Meredith was a character that everyone hated and no one could relate to, but I have to disagree. I love Meredith's character the way she is now as much as I loved her character in the very first episode. She is flawed and an emotional wreck, but she is still human. I don't know what the lives of those who wrote the petition are like, but apparently they're pretty good if they can't relate to her emotionally. I have always been able to relate to Meredith's character, and still even in this very dark time for her, I'm sure I am not alone in saying I have felt that way. I'm not trying to stir up things, because the petition makes some very good points, but I feel like when the show finally gets up and running again, we as fans should allow the creator the freedom to take her show where she pleases. You wouldn't tell someone else how to raise their baby, and this show is kind of like Shonda Rimes' baby...she brought it into the world so she can "raise it" as she sees fit. Like I said, I'm not happy with the Derek/Rose combo either, but I am willing to see where the show's award-winning creator is taking the characters of this award-winning program. If you truly hate the show and where it's going, you always have the freedom to change the channel or pop in an old season's DVD and relive the "good 'ol days." All that being said Mer/Der forever, Grey's still rocks my socks, and I'm out!

  16. i can't breath with you looking at me so just stop! Says:

ok seriously meredith and derek HAVE to get over this and finally be bright and shiny!!! i'd really like to see them happy together (and by that i mean not Mer happy, but not Der happy, or Der happy and not Mer happy). it's gone a little too far, i mean i know that the writers have to keep the show interesting and not simply make them a perfect couple, but i'm not asking for perfection, just MerDer together for real! i think that out of these four seasons the happiest they have been (continually) was in season one, before she knew about Addison. now addison is gone, and they have no reason to be broken-up!!! so this whole rose thing better be just the thing to kick Meredith in the butt and make her realize that Derek is HERS and no one else's! i'm really really anxious for this to come through so Meredith and Derek can be a real couple with real dates, real talks, real sleep-overs, and better yet a real home!!!!!

  17. Lemily Says:

I think the story lines are all starting to just be repeats. I really like this show, but I think it needs some new stuff. Not just the same couples and same medical disasters over and over again. I for one am happy that mer and der are not gonna be together for a while. That way when they finally do wind up together, it'll be something happy and not depressing.

  18. Mc-Sooma Says:

    im really sad those days,,

grey's anatomy was my life!! im an addicted fan!! previously i used to live my days counting when the next episode will appear now it all changed its soo boring since season 4 started im not looking forward to any episode!! season three was the best all of then were the best!!

please grey's anatomy creators do something!! save our lives, im getting healed from my all time addiction!! i dont want that, i want that jumpy feeling and butterflies and exhiliration back!! please =D

with sincere care, thank you =D

  19. hafsa Says:

what is going on? why isnt any update on this site?

  20. joy Says:

yeah i am wondering the same thing

  21. yoanna Says:

    me too!

  22. carrie Says:

and whatever happened to caption contest???

  23. OliaU Says:

may be Meredith and Mark.... one date?!!!! I think it will be great and interesting!

  24. Marissa Says:

i'm so pissed at derek right now that seeing mer with mark sounds to me like a good idea.
anyway, 4 those who keep saying that merder fans who signed the petition live in a fantasy world, and deny to be realistic and admit couples do break up and so on, i'd like to point out that merder where together and broke up (due to addison) then got back together and broke up again (at ep1.s4) then kind of together and broke up again in the last episode!
    that's 3 times!!!
what is less realistic, a couple fighting but coping or a couple portrayed as soul mates but can't stay together more than a couple of months?

  25. carol Says:

i agree! also i'd like to say that speaking our mind (but not demanding spesific storylines) about grey's shouldn't be offensive to shonda, like we're telling her how to raise her baby like s/o suggested, 'cause raising a baby is a private matter but a tv series is being put out there to be judged, and it's left up to us to decide to watch it, make it succesfull, even keeping it from being cancelled!
hell, even the money, 4 which they strike, is made by our passion 4 the show, so i think we have a right to speak our mind
