I´ve just signed the petition i think it´s great idea i hope it works Because i can´t watch Meredith & Derek like this anymore. They said weren´t cut out to be bright & shiny but i think they are. I also just want to i didn´t forget Patrick´s Birthday i wished a happy bithday on Sunday.

These people sound fanatical. First of all this show is still must see tv. The last episode was excellently written and as far as the new characters go, I love Rose and Hahn , and Lexie is growing on me. What I would change is the lack of Black love shown on the show. I also want more backstory regarding Sloan, Karev, and Hahn. And give the Chief more to do. That is one sexy older man who has been looking a little worn as of late.

I agree that Grey's is not awesome like it used to be. However, I feel that way because I think the character of Meredith has become impossible to like. She is so self-involved and boring. I'm glad that Derrick is finally looking elsewhere! Plus, since season 1, I was so hoping that George and Izzie would end up falling for each other. But what this show has done with them is AWFUL. (Callie & George = yuck!) They do sleep together but it's completely tainted because he's married. And then the whole "they have no chemistry" episode - SO STUPID! Hello, did anyone see that elevator kiss last season!? So, yeah, I'm so over Grey's right now...

i have just signed, well said about merder, i hope they finally listen. I realised that the characters the actors play determines to a large extend how they are liked by the fans and it really not fair on Ellen Pompeo, please give this woman a break.

Djeez, why is everyone blaming Derek? He's the one who showed his feelings to Mer, he's the one who said he would wait for her, but that it was possible he would find someone else. And so it happened. Mer knew all this. SHE is the one with issues. I loooved Merder, but it was getting me frustrated, the on/off thing between merder.... MEREDITH is the one who doesn't know what she wants!!

I'm talking about this:
"Many on the staff of Grey's Anatomy Insider would point out how difficult it's become to date the self-involved, wishy washy Meredith and wonder what, exactly, Derek did wrong on the aforementioned date, considering his previous warnings and Meredith's reaction to his house plans".
1- You should talk about yourself
2- Grey's should be a realistic show. In a month, Meredith can't change herself. This show isn't Charmed.
3 - Finally fans realized that Derek isn't McPerfect. It was the time for this.

I have been watching Private Practice and it reminded me what Grey's Anatomy used to be like. Yes there are darker story lines, obviously these are in the early stages of development at the moment, but there is also a lot of comedy and sex to lift the tone. Grey's Anatomy has lost that at the moment. I have no issue with Meredith and McDreamy not being together and McDreamy being a bit deep and moody too, but comedy is how we deal with this and that's been lost i think. Bring back the fun to balance the black - that's what i say!

So I'm the other writer of the petition and I just want people to check it and read it before judging it. It's not about blaming Derek for what happened as this article makes it sound. And it's not about wanting Lauren off the show (if you read it you will actually discover that there's only 3 sentences about Rose). It's not even about plot lines that we don't like. Actually for a good portion of the season anyone who knows Katie and I can tell you we've been defending it. But enough is enough.
It's about the fact that Grey's Anatomy has become a melodrama. And a good chunk of fans are tired of it. Everyone on the show is in a miserable and dark place, it's not entertaining to watch anymore. And characters have lots all resemblance of who they once were.
We are not the first people to point these issues out. Message boards have been filled with these exact same complaints since about mid way through Season 3. We're just trying to do something about it. We're not whining. We're not bitching. We see something we're passionate about slipping away and we're trying to do something about it.
We now have over 1000 signatures so clearly we're not alone.
Oh and the person that said we were attacking Patrick...can you please explain how? As we have mad mad Patrick Dempsey love and wouldn't dream of attacking him in a million years.

I signed the show because Bailey's son came into the hospital in critical condition...and I really didn't care. Back in season 2, something of that calibre probably would have had me on the verge of tears.

I have to disagree with the petition. I LOVE every season of Grey's Anatomy, even the dark and twisty stuff. I think it shows that the characters are human and has helped each of the character's to grow as individuals. I agree with Sarah- life is messy and isn't always sunshine and roses. As for Derek and Rose- I do not hate Rose and am o.k. with Derek exploring a new relationship while Meredith gets her life together. What fun would it be if they were always together and never had any problems? I think they will eventually be together again. Also, I don't know why everyone hates Meredith so much. She does not get nearly enough credit. Her character has depth and flaws and is someone a lot of people can probably relate to on some level. Please get over your issues people and let Shonda do her thing.

what annoys me the most is the way people gave valid reasons for derek to move on and date rose. If that is the case then why did shonda even bothered to start building a romance b/w those two since from season 1 if things are going to end like this?
McCritic, just how is it right for a guy to move on in a matter of mins after breaking up with the love of his life? i think derek was looking for an excuse to date rose all along. when he said to her that he was sorry he has to see meredith through, he looked sad. Like meredith was standing in the way.

i agree. i don't know whether it's the writting or the direction or the actor's boredom, but what i saw was derek looking almost desperatelly a way to give up on mer just when she started to make progress, and 4 what? a forced romance taken like from a cheap soap-opera.
of course i pin 4 merder, but i think most people got more upset because they feel deceived. the storyline is too sloppy, like they r bored to write and so they take the easy road and depend on our passion 4 merder to keep us attached

You don't agree with the plot lines? Then its simple, don't watch. A petition to try to force the writers to write storylines that you want is lame. Its not your story to tell, you didn't create the characters, begin the story or get the show on the air. Go back to your fanfic.

of course everyone has a right to speak his mind but i'd just like to point out that this petition is not about demanding to watch the storylines we want. it's about reacting to being manipulated and disregarded. tv is about give and take b/w the creators and the viewers and u can't treat the second like u underestimate their intelligence, throwing at them mediocre work and depend on their past strong reaction to "similar" storylines(addison) to keep them.
sure we have to depend on shonda to give nice stories 4 grey's, but she also has to depend on viewers to keep airing a show

I have no problem with derek dating someone else. It's just that it'll be boring and not compelling. The reason why the MerDer fans are pissed off is because they were shoved down our throats as meant to be and soulmates and stuff in Season Two. For what? If this is the way it was going to turn out then i see why people are tired. The media has always hated Meredith and now Derek is getting slightly bashed and people can't understand why. He was never McDreamy to me just full of shit. Oh he has a way with words and a certain look that would make your heart melt. But that's it for me. I love Mer and always have but she's always getting slated. Half her family got wiped out, she almost died- she has a lot to deal with. Plus she's getting most of the blame for the MerDer relationship ending. She's a great friend to have and i honestly have not heard her whine that much. I'll still watch the show, can't wait for it to come back actually. But, like always I'll watch for Meredith. Derek and Rose can have their own show called Whatever. Bring back Finn.

Well as I said before, the thing I don't get is
WHY IS EVERYONE BLAMING DEREK?
He couldn't wait forever, MEREDITH is the one who has issues and has to grow up! Life goes on for Derek. So it's Mer who has become kinda annoying character.
(yesss i was a big merder fan, but latest time, the whole merder thing was becoming so frustrating)

we live in a place where freedom of speech is encouraged and enforced.
if the writer's decide not to acknowledge the petition, thats their choice.
no one is forcing anyone to sign it.

greyslover is right. Mer can't seem to grow up. As I said in other comments, Mer doesn't want anything to do with a long term relationship. She knows that they don't work, and she wants Derek so bad that she doesn't want to lose him.
Mer is becoming really annoying, too.
(I want to see Rose hook up with Finn, and Mer hook up with Mark to show Derek that all his loves have ended up with him. That would make things interesting.)

I just signed the petition. Not because I don't like Grey's but because of the direction it's heading in. Shonda keeps giving us hope that the show will get better; characters will grow, well I havn't really seen much of it. Little by little each week I lose interest with the characters, and I'm probably the one of the biggest Grey's fans out there. What really made me realize how disappointed I'm getting with the show, was last episode 4.11 when Mer and Der broke up I didn't shed a tear. Was I upset? Heck yes, but I'm so tired of going back and forth and back and forth and frankly Im used to it so I didn't need to cry anymore.
The petition isn't to yell or give any disrespect towards the writers of the show, frankly just this petition shows how many people care about the show, but it's simply a way to get the writers to hear our voices, because they've yet to be heard. Hopefully this petition will wake them up.
