ok, here is what hit me first - how dare they! how dare derek! then i thought for a moment, and realized, go meredith - seriously. he blames her for her issues; he defends her for her issues; he antagonizes her issues. meredith has made many efforts to deal with some very difficult things, for herself and for derek. you don't take a fragile person and hit them where it counts, especially if you claim you love them. all issues aside, derek kissed someone else - and then he tries to sidestep that issue and blame meredith? she's right, it sure seems like he wants anyone to just fill a role in his life - how about taking meredith out to dinner, how about kissing her in the scrub room? meredith is difficult, but you can't expect utter romance and - uh, a no biggie attitude about a kiss - when they are that deep into a relationship together. derek messed up and meredith is getting stronger, she is dealing, she is growing - and he's going to lose a lot if he walks away. she on the other hand may have something to gain (although he is mcdreamy). all of you fans who were just plain pissed after the break up, breathe. stand behind meredith for a moment and realize how much we've seen this character strengthen and with all her neurosis she still seems to stand tall above the rest in her grace. she will do fine either way, derek or no derek. she's meredith grey.

To be honest, I think it just comes down to the fact that Shonda does not want to or can't admit that she made a mistake taking the show in the direction she did starting in season 3. The more fans complain, it is as if she digs her heels in even more and continues things like breaking Meredith and Derek apart rather than just admitting that she took the show in the wrong direction and putting things right. Unfortunately, it seems as if she is more than willing to destroy the show rather than do listen to the fans. I hope that this does not happen, but I don't see this changing. It is really too bad since at one time this was one of the best and most enjoyable shows on the air in a long time. To see it jump the shark after only 2 seasons is unfortunate.

that episode was completely predictable! I'm tired of the constant split between Mer/Der- it's really getting old.
I have given up on Grey's. Sorry. I tried for 3.5 years. But they played the Meredith/Derek same old tired storyline way too much. If the writer's strike proved anything to me, it is that I can live without Grey's. I am out. Now, my only problem is that I subscribed to the season on Itunes, but this just saves me space on my harddrive.

BOOOOOOOOOO!! Boy you can tell that Shonda didn't have anything to do with writing this episode. All I read about is how much of a tear jerker this was gonna be and get your kleenex ready...I'm an emotional pregnant woman, and I didn't even get teary eyed. The idea of it was sad, but I guess I just didn't feel the sadness coming from the characters or something - there was way too much hate going on between Bailey and Tucker. And what's the deal with breaking up yet ANOTHER marriage/relationship. Bailey and Tucker need to try harder. Loved Alex and Izzie scenes together. Loved Meredith trying with Lexie. Loved Callie getting screen time. Hated Derek going directly to Rose after break-up. I wanted her to tell him to get bent, that she wasn't a rebound chick. Oh and Hahn and Callie being drinking buddies seemed REALLY forced, unlike Addison and Callie. Dialogue as a whole just seemed forced even if the ideas were good.

I liked this episode a lot except for the Der/Mer. It makes Derek seem like a passive-aggressive jerk (and also it made me not like Rose because if she's aware of what's going on between him and Mer, why is she pursuing him at the beginning of the episode?) So fine, Der can go off with Rose- If Meredith were my friend whose boyfriend was breaking up with her AGAIN for another woman, I would say "Dump the loser."
Also, I'm sad that Bailey broke up with her husband. She seems tougher than that (as did he.)
But I liked Alex being nice to Izzie- I didn't necessarily see it as romantic. And I LOVED Christina in this episode.
BTW, Glenne Headley played the faith-healer- she was in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Dick Tracy among other things.

i hate rose omg i cant beleve merder broke up!!!!!
I think derek all along was just looking for an excuse to date rose. So he brought out the house plan because he knew perfectly well that meredith is no way near ready for such a of big step.
So let me get this straight...dempsey in his interviews said whatever step merder took will be permanent right? and that he is happy with this outcome?...oh well.....what an ending.
I dont know how true that is, but i also read somewhere that ABC wants Lauren/Rose as a regular. Like i said.........what an ending!

i thought i'd hate rose but found myself really hating DEREK instead. he's being such an ass! seriously, what happened to mcdreamy?! i think derek brought out plans about the house OUT OF GUILT from kissing rose, THEN he asks rose out RIGHT AFTER HE BREAKS UP with meredith. these just don't seem to me like the kind of things the sane derek would do. it's just sad.

Alex and Izzie make me vomit too, they better not go back there. Not sure about Lexie and George, they have chemistry but he and Izzie have even more and they are just the perfect couple. I hate how they got together but like Izzie said to Louise, she did not know she was in love with him until it was too late. Things like that happen. Now they can get together slowly and the right way.

Words cannot express how disappointed I was with the whole Mer/Der/Rose situation. Plain and simple: Derek is an idot ... On a brighter note however, I was pleasantly surprised as well as a little shocked to hear Patty Griffin's "Up To the Mountain" during the episode. It's not what I would consider a 'Grey's song', but it is an extremely brilliant song by an amazingly gifted artist. Makes me want to give the music supervisor a great big bear hug.

Okay, why is Sandra Oh even wasting her talent on this show anymore? Cristina is such a great character and all they've done episode after episode is portray her as some sort of crazy bitchy machine next to Saint Izzie, not to mention constantly having her talent overlooked by Hahn. Give me a break! And Alex just obviously still holds a candle and boosts Izzie's ego even more.
