Actor Justin Chambers, who plays Dr. Alex Karev on Grey’s Anatomy, checked himself in to the psych ward at UCLA Medical Center this week.

A rep for Chambers, who has five children with wife Keisha, said he was “exhausted and suffers from a sleeping disorder” and “went in voluntarily to get help.”

Justin Chambers’ character remains one of Grey’s Anatomy’s best.

Interestingly, Chambers was in the same ward where Britney Spears is currently being treated for bipolar disorder, having been admitted early this morning.

Justin checked in Monday and left yesterday. Here’s hoping he got the help he needs and is feeling better! We need him for those Izzie-Alex scenes…

Drs. Karev and Stevens heated up Grey’s Anatomy in Season 2, but as we know, it didn’t work out. Since then, they’ve become good friends… but is that it?

At the SAG Awards Monday night, Justin Chambers (Alex) weighed in on a possible Alex-Izzie reunion on Grey’s Anatomy, while his Grey’s co-star, Sara Ramirez (Callie) hints that there still may be hope for Callie and George.

Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl had an outstanding year - enough to be named the most desirable woman of the year by popular site Askmen.com.

A former model, the 29-year-old Katherine Heigl is certainly beautiful, outspoken, humorous, talented. Some people aren’t huge fans, but many more are.

Katherine Heigl is a desirable woman in the opinion of many.

Her role on Grey’s Anatomy garnered her an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She also starred in box-office hits Knocked Up and 27 Dresses, and married singer-songwriter Josh Kelley. Quite a run!

It’s a nice compliment. Now all we need is for Patrick Dempsey to be named the most desirable man of the year and we can celebrate a Grey’s Anatomy sweep.

Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl threw a fun, yet mellow birthday party for her husband, Josh Kelley’s 28th birthday Tuesday night.

The newlyweds started by gathering 10 close friends, including Katherine Heigl’s pal and cast-mate T.R. Knight, for dinner in a private room at hotspot Katsuya Hollywood. There they noshed on Heigl’s hand-picked menu of Kobe beef, rock shrimp, miso cod and spicy tuna on crispy rice.

“It was important to me to celebrate Josh’s birthday in a fun and intimate way,” Heigl, who turned 29 and got married in December, said. “I just wanted tonight to be in an environment we both really love and we really love this place. This was the perfect combination of an intimate dinner with friends and a bigger thing at the bar where everyone can kick back and enjoy each other, but it’s still mellow.”

After dinner, the festive birthday party headed next door to SBE’s S Bar to toast Josh Kelley’s new album, Special Company.

Guests - including Josh Kelley’s band mates, Zach Braff, Haylie Duff, Brooke Burns, David Charvet, Kristin Cavallari, Shane West, Jonathan Schaech and Jamie-Lynn Sigler - mingled by the bar or danced, to a mix heavy on the ’80s tunes.

Katherine Heigl drank champagne (as Josh Kelley sipped on vodka cranberry cocktails) while she roamed the tables and welcomed all their friends.

When she wasn’t playing hostess, Katie and Josh were playful with each other. “It’s been a great year… it’s been a really great year! I’m still getting used to that word husband,” says the Grey’s Anatomy star.

Just before midnight, the happy couple danced in the middle of the lounge to The Cars’ “Just What I Needed,” and Katherine Heigl wrapped her arms around her husband of one month’s neck as they kissed.

Servers brought out a chocolate cake lit with candles and the entire place sang “Happy Birthday” to Kelley - followed by another kiss from Heigl.

With the writers’ strike (unfortunately) affording him plenty of time to pursue his auto racing pasion, Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey hit the road for the Rolex 24 automobile race at the Daytona International Speedway on January 26 in Daytona Beach, Florida. As usual, he stole the show.

There are few guarantees in life, but moving always stinks - even if you’re a star! Katherine Heigl (who sat out the SAG Awards) lugged her couch cushions out of a U-Haul into her new home in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Katherine Heigl and singer Josh Kelley got married December 23 but have never lived together until buying this new house! Young love is so exciting.

Finally, in the third month of a bitter strike by TV and screen writers, there’s something in the air. At least a little something.

“I think that there’s a cautious optimism out there right now,” one writer told CBS News. “The general mood is pretty hopeful,” said another.

The Writers Guild and the studios have started talking again, the ice broken after the Directors Guild reached a deal first.

The big issue remains how much directors, actors, and writers earn in royalties when their work is downloaded from the Internet.

The writers’ strike has meant only 11 episodes of Grey’s Anatomy in its fourth season - one that was supposed to mark the show’s return to glory.

So the pressure to settle is huge, the writer’s strike already costing Hollywood more than a billion dollars.

ABC will be airing “Let the Truth Sting” again tonight - at 8 p.m. - and while we have seen this Grey’s Anatomy episode several times already, there just aren’t all that many to choose from, with Season 4 on the verge of being cut short.

While it would be overly optimistic to expect a quick resolution to the strike that has us sitting on 11 episodes, at least the sides are talking, so there is hope that perhaps we may salvage a few more episodes this season.
