The Grey's Anatomy Insider staff would like to extend belated birthday wishes to the lovely, talented woman who literally puts the Grey in Grey's Anatomy, Ellen Pompeo, who celebrated her 38th birthday Saturday, November 10.
A native of the Boston area, Pompeo achieved modest fame with a variety of film roles before starring as Meredith Grey and becoming a household name - not to mention a Golden Globe award nominee and Screen Actors Guild award winner.
Now 38 years young, Ellen Pompeo lives in L.A. with her fiance, Chris Ivery, and their two dogs. Here's hoping we are treated to many more seasons of watching Ellen on Grey's Anatomy as the conflicted and complex title character.
Despite her rise to fame, Ellen Pompeo remains one of the more down to earth stars in Hollywood, and certainly among the most liked by readers of our site. We wish her the best, belatedly, on her birthday and thank her for her work on Grey's Anatomy!

Happy birthday Ellen! she will always be my favourite on Grey's. She plays Meredith so well even though it must be hard sometimes! Anyway i'm goin off topic here but i'll share anyway. My sister never watched Grey's before and couldn't understand why i liked it. She was bored this weekend so i put on the first season of Grey's. She got so addicted she watched all the episodes. When she first saw derek and meredith just talkin in the stairwell in the first epi she was like oh my god their chemistry is too huge. Even back then. She said are they like together in real life. She never saw anythin like it and said they're so into one another its not even funny. Then i downloaded Kung Fu Fighting on my computer and showed her what they're like now. It was that little intense scene in the oncall room. She was like well they haven't lost it anyway. I just thought i'd share that

I wonder what Patrick did for Ellen's birthday...I'm sure it was a big hug and kiss before she left the studio on Friday...what'cha think? I do love that pic of Der/Mer above. I love to see pics of them when they are offscreen together..basically they act the same off or onscreen because they have the best tv couple chemistry of anyone I have ever seen!

Happy Belated Birthday, Ellen! I woke up on Saturday, and that was the first thing that came out of my mouth. I hope there are many more to come. She is my fave on Grey's. XD
