wow, i didn't hear about that!! (referring to MissPissyMissy's comment) wow, that would be wonderful, i mean let derek flirt with the idea of rose for a while, but then bring him back to meredith (as usual)!!!! there is no way the der and mer can stay seperated forever, they are way too in love and as we all saw in the finale of season 2, can't keep their hands off of each other!!! :) i'm sure that at some point we are all gonna be able to stop freaking out, from watching the show since the first episode, we all know shonda kind of too well, and we all know that she'll bring them back together at some point!!

I hate hearing mean comments about Lauren. I personally watched her growing up in a loving happy Catholic home.
It's great to see Lauren Stamile on the show. She was raised in Tulsa, OK. by wonderful parents. Her Dad is an orthopeadic surgeon and her Mom a nurse. Her parents met at the hospital in New York where her Mom was a pediatric nurse and her Dad an Intern. I use to work for years with her Dad in surgery. They are so proud of her and I hope the rest of the country agrees. This is one of the nicest families you could ever know. Very friendly, kind and down-to-earth.
I remember Lauren, her sisters and little brother coming with their Dad to work and hanging out in the emergency room while he did some emergency surgery. They were little, so cute & charming. All very real and not spoiled at all. It's so cool to see Lauren grown up and being in a TV hospital vs. the real one she "grew up" in with her Dad.
Give her a chance! :)

Regardless of how nice her family may or may not be, that is a rather trashy picture of her, mostly naked. You're not the least bit weirded out to see that 'nice little girl' half naked on the internet? And while I may not have a problem with her personally, I do think I'll hate on her character if she comes between Mer/Der.

Hello everyone. I too believe that Meredith and Derek will end up together in the end, but we may have to wait until next season because of the strike! Anyway, for some reason I feel compelled to defend Meredith, here. Although it's clear that Derek loves her and she him, I can completely understand why she is holding back a bit. In my opinion, it's Derek who needs to grow right now. He is pushing her with an ultimatum because he's insecure, and afraid of losing her, and, I think he needs to feel like the good guy. Let's not forget that he lied to her all throughout Season 1. Then, despite that, she put herself out there and told him she loved him and he chose Addison instead! Then, he told her he loved her but walked away (we are supposed to believe this is because he loved her) and when she told him she had broken up with Finn, he pulled away from her. Then he told her he wanted to start over, but when the going got tough - her mother hurt her deeply, she almost drowned, her mom died, her step-mother died, and her father blamed her - he pulled away from her again! He was the one who pulled away first in season 3 after the Chief told him that he was concerned about Meredith - remember when Meredith kept calling him and he wouldn't answer the phone? Then he avoids her for days, and when she comes to find him and tries to figure out what's wrong, he dumps it on her, saying he's not sure if he can "keep breathing for her." WHAT????? Then he is surprised when she runs away from him after Thatcher slaps her? She was hurting, and he essentially told her that he wasn't sure he could be there for her. Then he tells her she is the love of his life, but qualifies that by asking her to put him out of his misery if she's not in it? That's not romantic, that's emotional blackmail. He doesn't trust her and he's not willing to open himself up to her, either. Okay, and then the last thing - he tells her he wants to marry her, bla bla bla...but he's not sure what will happen if someone else comes along? I don't blame Meredith, at all. She's not scary and damaged - I think she's confused and hurt, and for good reason. Derek hasn't exactly been straight with her. Yes, he loves her - but he has to accept her for who she is I guess I'm getting tired of poor Meredith getting blamed for the whole thing. I'm not saying that Derek is entirely to blame, either, I just think it's important to remember that he is NOT the perfect man (that doesn't mean he's not perfect for Meredith) and that he needs to do some growing here, too. Yes, Meredith has been pushing him away recently, but let's not forget that HE DID IT FIRST!
The good news is that she does seem to be "evolving" - she sat with derek and listened to him in the last episode, and she let the Chief take care of her. But what about Derek? Is he going to evolve as well and fully commit to Meredith? Love is about putting yourself out there and being there for your partner. Derek hasn't done that yet.

So. We have been wrong since the beginning, but that´s not surprising, is it? So, we decided (me especially) that we had to hate Lexie since we thought she was getting between Meredith and Derek. But sweet Lexie only wants Meredith to like her. She is a nice girl, and I think Mer is starting to realize that.
Obviously this has nothing to do with Rose ( in that photo she looks like a hooker) but I guess they decided Derek cannot be a man and just be alone for a minute. He needs someone by his side all the time. Well, I like Derek, or I used to like him.
I didn´t like Lexie because I was being prejudicial, but I, like Meredith, changed my mind. I like Lexie. A lot. That means that I hate Rose. I should change my nick to die_rose_the_nurse, but I won´t. Change it, I mean, I will definetely hate her. Until she disappears. And she will. Because meredith and derek are meant. (Can you imagine Derek married to a nurse? Sorry, I just can´t.)
But I want them to break up. now. I need for them to grow up, but that doesn´t mean that I want Derek with someone else. If I were Shonda I would work on their issues, not on their love lives.
But if Derek will have a fling with Rose, so be it. I hope it helps him realize that he doesn´t want to "just" settle and have a family, and a house. He wants Meredith, and all the things he always wanted come second to him having her beside him for the next 100 years. If that was not the case, if that is not what he really wants, he would never have cheated on Addison at the prom and gotten divorced. He has told her so many times that he loves her, and he wants her, that I just cannot believe that he is willing to find someone else.
I just want the show to be great, if they can´t be together, at least don´t make us hate their love interests right away.
In my opinion, the only way to do that is to give them space, for them not to jump into new relationships right away (please, no more tequila-induced-one-night-stands for Meredith), and you could introduce the characters before they start bedding the main characters. Maybe the writers could try for us to like them - the new love interests- a little before being forced to hate them.

That's a very smart comment, die_lexie_grey! I agree with you - things are much more interesting when we don't hate the possible "love interests." I don't hate poor Rose - first of all, we don't even know what's going to happen with her storyline. Lexie should help us to remember that - with all of the hoopla and talk about Rose coming between Derek and Meredith. The same was true of Lexie, before she even came on the set. The only thing coming between Derek and Meredith is DEREK AND MEREDITH! As you say, they BOTH need to work on their issues. I think that it will happen, but it will take time. We can hate Shonda all we want, but she does keep us coming back for more, doesn't she?

I want Derek and Meredith together as much as the rest of you, but let's remember that Rose is a fictional character on TV and keep the character separate from the actress. She's probably a lovely person - it's not her fault they hired her to be the thorn in poor Mer's side...and as far as her looking like a "whore" - what actress doesn't have a few pictures like that floating around? It's really disappointing that women attack each other like this. The use of the word "whore" is very demeaning to all of us! So give Lauren a break.

I have not once said anything about the actress. I said she looked like a hooker, and it may have been harsh, so I take it back. She is beautiful, but I am sorry, that picture lacks class. I have nothing against posing naked or half naked or whatever, but I have seen better photos than this one.
So if anybody felt that I was demoting women because of my comment about this photograph, I assure you all that was not my intention. So I apologize.
I have nothing against Lauren Stamile, and maybe thousands of actors and actresses have billions of photos like this one going around, but that doesn´t mean anything. It doesn´t make it either right or wrong, and everyone is entitled to their opinion.

But I said I was goig to hate Rose the nurse, not Lauren Stamile. I mean, if Julia Roberts were to play Rose in GA, I would hate her too. But just on principle. I cannot say (eventhough I did say it) that I will hate her forever. I mean, I don´t know anything about her, and I´ve been thinking about this, and since I don´t really hate Lexie (after getting to know her a little) and after I ended up loving Addison, I can no longer say that. I mean, never say never, right?
We get a little carried away sometimes, but once we give things some thought we realize things we didn´t see before.
And I repeat, I hate Rose now just on principle. And I will hate her as long as she is the thorn in Meredith´s side. Sorry, I cannot help feeling that way.

Yes, they have shared and still share something special but i just don't feel their connection. Most of the time, i find they them cheesy. I hope this nurse will brings something interesting on the plate for Dereck. Meredith needs to get some strengh and grow as a woman before she could even consider having a relationship let alone with Dereck. I hope they bring someone else for her with the same charms as Dereck but not him! sorry!
