Guest Star News: Lauren Stamile, Josh Jackson
Kristin Veitch of E! Online reports that nurse Rose (Lauren Stamile) and Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) are definitely heading in a romantic direction in upcoming episodes. Rumor has it that Rose/Lauren is sticking around until the last episode before the strike â" Episode 11 â" and she'll be an increasingly bigger part of the plot, as Derek even calls on Rose to help save a surgery.
For those of you rooting for Meredith and Derek, the good news is that this new "McThorny" romance with Lauren Stamile's character becomes a thorn in Mer's side â" she may just realize how very badly she wants a McDreamy ending. The bad news? According to sources, she might realize that a little too late.

In other guest star news, the Writers Guild of America strike is apparently going to nix Joshua Jackson's appearance on Grey's Anatomy. Producers are hoping they can figure out another slot for the former Dawson's Creek star after the strike is put to rest, but that's contingent on his schedule. Stay tuned.

Big bummer about Joshua Jackson - I was really looking forward to him coming on board. And was hoping he'd sick around. I love him in everything he's done. Hopefully it works out for him still to guest star.
I guess I think Rose is going to be a thorn, but that's the way of TV. There has to be challanges. Super couples ALWAYS break up through the course of episodes and then ALWAYS get back together. Why throw a fit when in the end (maybe later then sooner), Mer and Der will be together.

it's becoming annoying, the show must grow up and make the relation ship between Meredith and Derek work. The new love Rose make no sense !!! Now it will be a soap and i think many fans are going to stop watching GA..

Derek and Meredith met on the first episode and belong together forever. Why fool with good chemistry and two good actors who obviously click together so well on screen? Stop trying to have Derek date other women! He's found his true love! Mark belongs with Callie too.

Unless Der just flirts w/the idea of "Thorny Rose" but goes nowhere w/it, I too will be saying goodbye to GA. I've had enough of the misery Shonda insists on heaping upon Mer. No one has that bad of a life all of the time. Get real.

I don't think we should get too worried here. Remember when Lexie was first introduced? We were all scared out of our minds that she was going to take Mer's place. But look what happened! She's fine...nowhere near Derek. Now I know that Rose is a different story...not a season regular or anything, but surely going to cause some problems. But I'm kepping hope. I believe that Mer/Der will work it out in the end. They will be together. I just hope it will won't take Meredith too long to figure that out.

This picture doesn't help me like her any better actually it just makes it worse. I did hear a promising spoiler that her and Mark are supose to hook up. Maybe she learns no matter who you are your no match for Meredith when it comes to Derek's heart.

wow, i didn't hear about that!! (referring to MissPissyMissy's comment) wow, that would be wonderful, i mean let derek flirt with the idea of rose for a while, but then bring him back to meredith (as usual)!!!! there is no way the der and mer can stay seperated forever, they are way too in love and as we all saw in the finale of season 2, can't keep their hands off of each other!!! :) i'm sure that at some point we are all gonna be able to stop freaking out, from watching the show since the first episode, we all know shonda kind of too well, and we all know that she'll bring them back together at some point!!

I hate hearing mean comments about Lauren. I personally watched her growing up in a loving happy Catholic home.
It's great to see Lauren Stamile on the show. She was raised in Tulsa, OK. by wonderful parents. Her Dad is an orthopeadic surgeon and her Mom a nurse. Her parents met at the hospital in New York where her Mom was a pediatric nurse and her Dad an Intern. I use to work for years with her Dad in surgery. They are so proud of her and I hope the rest of the country agrees. This is one of the nicest families you could ever know. Very friendly, kind and down-to-earth.
I remember Lauren, her sisters and little brother coming with their Dad to work and hanging out in the emergency room while he did some emergency surgery. They were little, so cute & charming. All very real and not spoiled at all. It's so cool to see Lauren grown up and being in a TV hospital vs. the real one she "grew up" in with her Dad.
Give her a chance! :)

Regardless of how nice her family may or may not be, that is a rather trashy picture of her, mostly naked. You're not the least bit weirded out to see that 'nice little girl' half naked on the internet? And while I may not have a problem with her personally, I do think I'll hate on her character if she comes between Mer/Der.

I will make myself a Rose voodoo doll and get rid of the thorn. :) MerDer will be together, Rose is not gonna stop them, only the strike will delay things a little bit.

I live here in an Asian country. I personally watch this show because of Meredith and Derek. I am an avid fan because of them. And I believe I am not the only one who's in love with these two characters! So don't you dare take that happiness away from us! =)

Hello everyone. I too believe that Meredith and Derek will end up together in the end, but we may have to wait until next season because of the strike! Anyway, for some reason I feel compelled to defend Meredith, here. Although it's clear that Derek loves her and she him, I can completely understand why she is holding back a bit. In my opinion, it's Derek who needs to grow right now. He is pushing her with an ultimatum because he's insecure, and afraid of losing her, and, I think he needs to feel like the good guy. Let's not forget that he lied to her all throughout Season 1. Then, despite that, she put herself out there and told him she loved him and he chose Addison instead! Then, he told her he loved her but walked away (we are supposed to believe this is because he loved her) and when she told him she had broken up with Finn, he pulled away from her. Then he told her he wanted to start over, but when the going got tough - her mother hurt her deeply, she almost drowned, her mom died, her step-mother died, and her father blamed her - he pulled away from her again! He was the one who pulled away first in season 3 after the Chief told him that he was concerned about Meredith - remember when Meredith kept calling him and he wouldn't answer the phone? Then he avoids her for days, and when she comes to find him and tries to figure out what's wrong, he dumps it on her, saying he's not sure if he can "keep breathing for her." WHAT????? Then he is surprised when she runs away from him after Thatcher slaps her? She was hurting, and he essentially told her that he wasn't sure he could be there for her. Then he tells her she is the love of his life, but qualifies that by asking her to put him out of his misery if she's not in it? That's not romantic, that's emotional blackmail. He doesn't trust her and he's not willing to open himself up to her, either. Okay, and then the last thing - he tells her he wants to marry her, bla bla bla...but he's not sure what will happen if someone else comes along? I don't blame Meredith, at all. She's not scary and damaged - I think she's confused and hurt, and for good reason. Derek hasn't exactly been straight with her. Yes, he loves her - but he has to accept her for who she is I guess I'm getting tired of poor Meredith getting blamed for the whole thing. I'm not saying that Derek is entirely to blame, either, I just think it's important to remember that he is NOT the perfect man (that doesn't mean he's not perfect for Meredith) and that he needs to do some growing here, too. Yes, Meredith has been pushing him away recently, but let's not forget that HE DID IT FIRST!
The good news is that she does seem to be "evolving" - she sat with derek and listened to him in the last episode, and she let the Chief take care of her. But what about Derek? Is he going to evolve as well and fully commit to Meredith? Love is about putting yourself out there and being there for your partner. Derek hasn't done that yet.
