Fifteen months into his engagement to Emmy winner and Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl, singer-songwriter Josh Kelley says he's ready to start a family.

"I always thought I'd be scared, but I'm ready," Kelley said. "I'm 27, and I feel I've done more than most people will do in a lifetime. I'm ready to settle down, start a family and build my Kelley empire."

The couple, who met when Heigl appeared in a music video for Kelley's song "Only You," got engaged in June 2006. Kelley is sure the 28-year-old Grey's Anatomy star, who he will wed in December, is the one.

"She's so great," he says. "We're both kind of carbon copies of each other in some ways, and we also have our differences, which makes things fun and exciting."

The prospect of marriage even inspired Josh Kelley's latest material.

"I just finished a new album called Special Company, which sort of takes us through the emotional roller coaster of getting married," he says.

Are kids on the horizon for the cute couple? "We haven't talked about it," Kelley says. "We throw around names, but it's just for fun."

Kelley was performing in Las Vegas Sunday night and couldn't be in L.A. to see Katherine Heigl snag the Emmy Award for best supporting actress in a drama series. But he got the news immediately, with a little help from his friends.

"My manager put her phone up to her TV so I could hear Katherine's speech," he said. "It's beautiful. She works so hard, and she's so deserving of it."

The couple soon spoke by phone. "I couldn't even understand what she was saying because she was so excited," Kelley says. "It was awesome."

Fresh off a surprise Emmy win that even her mother said didn't stand a chance in hell of happening, the loquacious Katherine Heigl is on cloud nine.

But this talented actress also has a lot on her plate going forward.

She's busy filming the fourth season of Grey's Anatomy as well as a new romantic comedy, and has just acquired the film rights to the bestselling novel "Lost & Found," according to Variety.

Through her production company, Heigl plans to produce an adaptation of the Jacqueline Sheehan book along with her mother and manager, Nancy Heigl.

"Lost & Found" is about a psychologist who moves to a secluded island off the coast of Maine after the death of her husband. It is unclear whether Heigl intends to appear in the film as well as serve as its producer.

Regardless, Heigl set up her company in the aftermath of the major critical and commercial success of Knocked Up, the comedy she starred in this summer.

Best know for his role as Izzie Stevens on Grey's Anatomy, and for her eagerness to have her surname pronounced correctly, Katherine Heigl's next major movie role will be in the romantic comedy 27 Dresses.

The doctor is in ... the house! Grey's Anatomy actress and perennial Emmy nominee Chandra Wilson traded in her stethoscope for a hammer for a day as she pitched in with Habitat For Humanity. Check out the People magazine photo below. 

Wilson and the group constructed homes for families in need on Thursday in Los Angeles. It's always nice to see Grey's Anatomy stars lending a helping hand.

It's Sexual Harassment Day over at Private Practice, and the show's cast and crew are clearly less than thrilled about having to attend a studio-required lecture on the perils of inappropriate compliments in the workplace.

Kate Walsh, who endured the same seminars during her three years playing Dr. Addison Montgomery on Grey's Anatomy, is overjoyed that the job of doing press for her new show has provided her an excuse to slip away.

Opening the door to her modest air-conditioned trailer, Kate Walsh reaches into her refrigerator for some bottled water. Within just a half-hour she has downed two bottles. Keeping herself hydrated, along with getting acupuncture on a weekly basis, has helped the 39-year-old remain focused.

But Kate Walsh concedes she's not yet totally secure at her new TV home, which strikes her as a bit odd, considering the circumstances.

"I told my husband, 'I haven't really found my groove yet, and I've been playing Addison for almost three years!"

Walsh's husband (of just two weeks) is film exec Alex Young, who reminded her that Private Practice is new: "A whole new cast, scripts, location and crew."

Katherine Heigl has a makeup secret: she loves beauty products!

"When I was in Rhode Island filming (27 Dresses) this summer, I went to Sephora for the first time," she tells InStyle. "It was a holy mecca."

Turns out, her initiation into the cosmetics world brought about a transformation in her bathroom, which she has reorganized to accommodate her treasure trove of products - some of which she gets for free.

"I love getting those boxes," she says.

And while the Grey's Anatomy star and Emmy winner, 28, admits that her arms are wide open to freebies, she does have her limits.

"There comes a point of gluttony I can't accept," she says. "When that happens, I feel like I have to clean out and give stuff to my sister, mom and friends."

While Katherine Heigl admits to being conscious of her looks to the point of her always wearing full makeup in public - "I do not want to be the 'Look What This Celebrity Looks Like Without Makeup' picture," she says - she is also candid about what she considers her imperfect attributes: her complexion and teeth.

"My skin is sensitive, so everything bothers it," she says. "And I'm the jerk who keeps switching products and making it worse."

Heigl also wears an Invisalign retainer, which she removes during the InStyle interview before eating. "I got them because of this wonky tooth," she says. "It's awesome because every two weeks you switch to a new retainer. Pretty much the perfect way to describe Invisalign is Netflix for your teeth."

For her InStyle Hollywood Hair Makeover shoot, the self-professed product fanatic got to try on three different looks for three different covers.

Posing with a glamorous updo, a short, brunette wig and her hair in loose ringlets, Katherine Heigl raved about the experience.

"To have these professionals turning you into someone else is pretty neat," she says â€" especially when it came to her hair. "I've always wanted to be a brunette because in a town of blondes, it makes me look a little more exotic," she says.

Still, she has a favorite look of the three: "The Ingenue," which she calls "sexy but not overtly so." The image, with her hair down and loose, seems to sum up Heigl's style perspective. Says Katie: "I like simple hair and makeup."

After Shonda Rhimes and TV Guide's Michael Ausiello exchanged words about the critic's review of Private Practice, the producer of both shows gave him some hot scoop concerning the Grey's Anatomy embattled supercouple.
