Ellen Pompeo Not Enamored With Young Hollywood Stars' Behavior
Echoing the sentiments of many, Ellen Pompeo says Hollywood socialites "who are rich and famous for nothing" are setting a bad example.
"I just think the media should take this country in a different direction," the 37-year-old Grey's Anatomy actress tells the new issue of Los Angeles Confidential Magazine, on newsstands August 15.
"We're so focused on the wrong things. We're teaching young girls that this is what they should be focusing on: rich and famous girls who are rich and famous for nothing."
In an thinly-veiled reference to coverage of Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and their ilk, Pompeo says:
"What are we doing to this younger generation? It's not very responsible."
Pompeo, who plays Dr. Meredith Grey on Grey's Anatomy, calls the media "irresponsible" for speculating that she has an eating disorder.
"I worry about the girls who look up to me - I don't want them to think I starve myself or don't eat."
"I don't want them to think that to be like me, that's what they have to do," explains the actress, who is naturally slender.
Pompeo, a Boston-area native who is engaged to record producer Chris Ivery, says they haven't yet set a wedding date. The pair got engaged in November, having dating for three years.
"I swear we're going to get married at sometime," Ellen Pompeo says. "We're just trying to fit it all in. It won't be a big ceremony - we want one thing to ourselves!"
Does Ellen Pompeo see children in her future?
"I do," she says. "With the show, I just don't know if it's entirely fair to myself and to everybody else right now. We'll see what happens."

Ellen Pompeo is the best actress alive in my book. She is very beautiful and talented. I wish I could meet her on day. That would be awesome! She's my role model... and a good one at that.

I have always been amazed by her and Patrick both. Their both down to earth and knows what's important in life. I'm also glad these are my girls Hollywood favorites.

I love her interviews, I have a lot of respect for Ellen Pompeo. She is someone to lookup to in her way of thinking and wonderful perspective on everything. PLus shes a kickA$$ actress :) makes Grey rock.

question... Why would someone say that this beautiful woman has an eating disorder? That is outrageous! People with eating disorders look like they have eating disorders, Ellen Pompeo does not look like she has an eating disorder. She's simply beautiful.

Ellen Pompeo seems like such a sweet person! I'm glad she's so down to earth. We need more people like her in our world- those who are responsible and know whats important, and I must say we should have less freaks like Lindsay Lohan in the media's spotlight!

Go StephRo! You're exctly right! If everyone in the world were more like Ellen, the world would perfect. People like Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, and Nicole Richie set very bad examples for their children fans. These people get arrested and sent to jail for drunk driving more than once a week. That's horrible. I'm sure most of us commenting on this are at least 12... I'm about to be 15... and we don't exactly look up to people like Lindsay, Paris, or Nicole because we know right from wrong. But kids that are 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10... they don't exactly know what's right and what's not. Ellen Pompeo seems to be very polite, IS very BEAUTIFUL, and IS very tallented. If more child and teen stars were like her, I believe today's children would have better role models. I know I have a GREAT role model, and her name is Ellen Pompeo.

The picture was from their Europe tour 2006. They loked tired in those pictures, I didn't like them much. They let them get enough rest on these tours it seems.
I saw the pictures of this interview on E! News yesterday, her LA Confidential cover and inside photos that go with the rest of this article.. one word AMAZING!

I think she looks great for someone who is so close to 40. She is thin and looks very healthy. She keeps a low profile for a popular Hollywood star. This story was featured on MSN's home page and the only comments I read that were bad were about her boyfriend and his old felony conviction. She's a great person and I have a lot of respect for her. Now that she has said this some people will try their hardest to discredit her and it's a shame.

08/11 - We have some inside scoop on the new Grey's Anatomy interns who will be descending on Seattle Grace this season. Of course, we all know about Lexie played by Chyler Leigh (who will be a regular cast member this season). But what about the other newbie interns? Claire will be played by Tymberlee Chanel who is a relatively unknown newcomber to television save for two guest roles. The first was on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation this year and Numb3rs. Graciella is played by Gloria Garayua. She has had some guest starring roles in Cold Case, the ill-received 3 Lbs., Strong Medicine, Joey, Six Feet Under and others. Leo has had plenty of guest starring television roles as well, such as Dexter, That '70s Show, The X-Files and Sabrina, The Teenage Witch. But also a relative newcomber to the scene. As you may have noticed, these aren't the interns who were in the last episode of the last season! Those interns were played by Ajay Vidure, Candice Afia, Artie O'Daly and Joseph Williamson. No word if they will be showing up this season as well or not. We have also been told that one of the interns is going to try and pull a Cristina/Meredith and hook up with one of the McDoctors.
