Grey's Anatomy Gossip: O'Mizzie Over?
When it comes to summer Grey's Anatomy news, Michael Ausiello of TV Guide is all over it. Here's what he has to say about the Izzie-George pairing (which, apparently, is as unpopular with focus groups as our many reader comments would suggest) as well as a hint as to what's to come first for the new interns... one of whom we already know.
Question: I am in desperate need of some Grey's Anatomy scoop: What will happen to George and Callie? Please tell us Gizzie is officially dead.
Ausiello: Well, they're not officially dead, but it's certainly not looking good for the embattled lovebirds after they got eviscerated in a recent focus group. A source close to ABC tells says that George and Izzie polled 95 percent negative, leading one of the 200 participants to conclude that O'Mizzie will be dropped. I hereby take back all the bad stuff I've ever said about focus groups. I love focus groups. Focus groups are awesome.
Question: Got any scoop on Grey's Anatomy?
Ausiello: Two new interns will be introduced in the season premiere (three if you include Lexie Grey). And they'll have their hands full when a three-car accident sends multiple casualties pouring into Seattle Grace.

What do I think?! I think that adding the new interns (and lexi) will be HORRIBLE for the show and that too many characters will add too much..... just too much.

I totally agree with Liz.. Probably cause I really can't stand Callie.. But the most important thing is that at the end of the show Der and Mer will be together, I don't care about Lexie &co

i'm sure with shonda's writing skills we soon will care about "Lexie & Co." we just haven't heard anything about her story and we don't even know the other interns. it might turn out to be a pretty good season, even though every thing's changing, i guess it could be good change.

I think everything else will turn out just fine as long as Lexie stays away from derek and merder find a way to resolve their issues.

adding new interns will ruin the show . too many characters , just way too many . but im sure shondra can make it all work out . she always does . with the "mizzie" thing . i think it needs to end . george is married . although george & izzie would maby make a cute couple , he's married & izzie dosen't need to be stalking him . let's just hope the whole change is for the good .

i hope this season doesn't fall apart. we will be losing TWO big characters. Burke and Addie.. :(

I heard that the whole George-Izzie thing ends in the third episode, when Callie gets really hungry and eats Izzie.

Gizzie has a lot of fans, and it's not going to be dropped due to a frickin poll. Besides, Lexie also was bashed in the polls and they've made her regular, so...

I am fine with George and Izzie being over. I am fine George and Izzie staying together. I am even fine with the damn focus groups. But I am not fine with the fact that there are going to be new interns! I am fricking pissed off about the new interns! All I can say is that they don't become regulars for too long or Grey's will be ruined!

As for the new interns, I agree with most of you.
More characters is too much for the show. I liked it the way it was (well for the most part). Besides, Meredith, Christina, Izzy, George, and Alex were the best (when I say best I mean coolest and most amitious) interns EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

Shonda may not, but ABC will. The same thing happened with Lost and Desperate Housewives, the shows weren't doing so well, they did a focus group, made changes, and both shows ended really well. ABC has too much riding on Grey's to leave it up to Shonda's questionable judgment.

first off, i sure as hell hope shonda doesn't think she can let lexie fool around with derek and screw up meredith again. that's just gonna be too much. and i think i might like the new interns. there could be someone there for cristina since burke's gone. she needs someone. and what about the whole george not passing the 1st year exams? i totally forgot about that until just now. so does that mean george is gonna be an intern AGAIN? maybe that'll make callie not want him anymore and that way he and izzie can be together. i really do like the idea of 'gizzie'. they're bff's and in love, how can that not be perfect?! well .. i sure hope meredith and derek make it through the season. they're really the only reason i watch the show. the chemistry is just .. amazing. makes me jealous. so as long as they're good, so am i.

I agree with Rebecca, Meredith and Derek were getting really boring at the end, they werent even speaking. They were a hot couple in season 1, and maybe a couple episodes in this season but I really liked the whole George and Izzie thing, and this one website had 2 different polls that supported the gizzie thing, one was who should goerge be with and the fans picked Izzie by quite a bit and the other was if they should be together next season and the fans also picked yes. I dont really mind the new interns thing cause maybe with Lexi coming in it will spice things back with MerDer cause then maybe Meredith will regret ignoring him or something. Anyways I really hope Gizzie will live on.

MerDer would'nt be boring if the writer's would give them something to work with. Izzie and George had a great friendship that was fun to watch. There were enough sexual storylines going on without adding one more. I don't like George and Callie either she does look like she over power's him. To me it just does'nt look natural. I think George and Callie should divorce and Izzie can be there for her best friend to get him through it. They need to get back some of what they lost or season 4 won't be that much fun to watch.

I don't think Shonda has any choice about focus groups if she wants to keep her show.....
The Touchstone Advisory Panel asked some pretty specific questions. The most telling question was about how long the responder would watch the show if the quality didn't improve....I think most people responded that they would give it one or two episodes and then stop watching....
Gizzie was one of the items in question. So was a Mer / Der / Lexie triangle. Constant tragedy for Meredith was another.
