Carol, I am not so emotionally involved that I cannot be objective; I am merely trying to understand where each of the parties in this sorry game is coming from. Look at the facts, remove all the conjecture, rumours and lies and all I see is that IW has lost the most (for now at least) HE is the victim - his job, livelihood, reputation shredded because of a leaked in-house fight that somehow became a national story. Stupid regrettable words said in a heated moment, quickly forgotten by the two people involved (PD & IW) but used by an opportunistic man (who just happens to be gay) who was dissatisfied with his character and saw this as a chance to do something about it. Aided and abetted by his fellow opportunist KH. So yes I support him 100% in his bid to clear his name. IW can be outspoken, yes but that does not make him the villain in this tale. I fully agree with what Burke Backer said - bringing in PD to perhaps add weight to his comments - to show that from way back TRK might have been known to be resentful of others who he felt had better roles than himself.
His co-stars are distancing themselves? Maybe so but have you thought that they might not want to rock the gravy boat? Remember it's each man for himself and there's a million actors ready to take your place so noones taking any chances with ABC, besides this his co-stars have seen how public opinion swung away from IW and will not want to jeopardise their careers for him. Just the way of the world I giuess...or Hollywood.
Again I agree with Burke Backer - I don't think a lawsuit will be neccessary, ABC probably consulted the best lawyers to make their case watertight; it would be a waste of IW time and resources going after them.

IW did not get into a fight with PD,TR knight(despite his Ellen interview comments) was not there when the statement was made, IW didnt dog PD in anyway in his interveiw he even said PD was one of his best friends on the set. Why bring PD into it? Well if no one will beleive him why not mention someone else who was there who would have nothing to gain by telling the truth. As for comparing the slur IW made to the nword is just stupid. Being homosexual is a lifestyle choice. a person could even be born gay but they still have a choice of being openly gay or not. Also no one is being hosed down in the streets and havin dogs called on them for the gay rights movement. Dont get me wrong i respect anyone who fight for a just cause. But a simple fact is that from the moment anyone sees you they know your black theres no hiding it or the pain and deaths that word had led to just like no black person would compare the Nword with any Jewish slur. Some atrocities and the word used during them cant be compared to.

It is so very sad what the world we live in has come to. Morals are slim to none, and people treat each other like scum. Please, please, please let us stop and think what a beautiful world this could be if we only learn to treat each other with respect, and common decency. Regardless of skin color, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, this world is large enough for all of us to get along. I know this is all wishful thinking, but a good thought.
I followed the whole story from the beginning and yes TR was not on the set when it happened and during Oprah's visit PD and IW clearly said that the problem was solved. TR changed his attitude after the GG (see Burke Backer explanation of the GG story) because he knew he was visiting Ellen a few days later? Like someone mentioned how strange that his GA career took off after the "slur" went public. And if ABC has fired so many black actors why isn't the black community making more fuss about this?

I can't wait for the Larry King interview, hopefully, it will shed more light on the subject because he is in person rather than written words. I know people who have worked with Washington and think he is an upstanding man. GLAAD members have come out and totally supported Washington. One member even said Washington has done more for the gay community than Knight ever has. Knight has been lieing since the beginning. Knight was a struggling actor before Grey's and best believe he will do anything to keep and further his career - even if it means double crossing someone over. Heigl's career was pretty much crap before Grey's too (in Roswell she was horrible!!). I do think Heigl has proven herself (now) to be a good actress but her mouthing off was a media stunt too. The media will print anything that makes people watch their program or buy their print copies. Grey's cast members are not coming out because ABC will sue them. Morgan came out because he has no ties to ABC. ABC has a LONG history of being racist (they have fired over 5 black actors in the last two years for no "real" reason....ie "ABC has no comment"). CBS, FOX, FX, and NBC are fighting to sign Washington into contracts. Washington has two future films coming out. Grey's season 3 was BS in my eyes. I can think of maybe a handful of good scenes that stick out (izzie in the hallway and denny looking at her from beyond, burke's vows, the whole thanksgiving day episode). That's sad....because season 2 and 1 were AMAZING. Season 3's ferry arc was beyond stupid. Grey and McDreamy will they/won't they story line is beyond flatlined-already in the ground buried-8 years later old. Not to mention its a total rip off from Ross and Rachael but at least even them wouldn't break up every other episode (they'd more like break up every other season so they wouldn't piss off their fans). Grey's is crashing, which sucks, because that show could have been something amazing. Washington is lucky to get out while he can....then again Grey's could have been brought back to life if Washington was still in it!

He's been the whipping boy for ABC and Grey's Execs. He's kept his mouth shout for Patrick Dempsey as well. It's unfortunate that his name has to come up in all this. But, what I don't understand is why people are upset about Dempsey being brought up. Why is it okay for Isaiah to be pissed on and lied on and used and fired and on top of all that still expected to keep his mouth shut about everybody,s part in it. They basically made that man bend over and screwed him with a broken bottle and then gave him an enema with powered glass and alcohol. Then after that still made him be quiet about the whole thing, patted him on the butt like a good little boy and sent him on his merry way. HECK, I'D SING LIKE A DOGGONE PARROT!

I know you are tired of hearing from me, maybe as tired as you are of hearing from Isaiah, but I still want to say thank you to Donna, Didi, Sabrina, Dinofig, and Belgian Grey. Thank you for supporting Isaiah. He needs those of us who believe him to speak out. And, Hot4Dempsey, he is absolutely not trying to bring Patrick down. He is trying to show their solidarity. They respect each other. Have you read any of Patrick's statements about Isaiah? They have all been positive. He didn't make any negative statement about Patrick. All he is saying is that it was TR making it uncomfortable on the set and that Patrick can attest to that. I think he believes that the fans will believe Patrick even if they don't believe him. I hope that Patrick is able to confirm his version of the story, but am sure that Patrick is smart enough not to jeopardize his job on GA. He may have a little more leverage though because without Patrick there is no GA. Truthfully no one else is indispensible other than Patrick no matter who you support or who you love. I think Isaiah only referred to Patrick because he along with Isaiah are the only ones involved in the initial altercation who know the truth. It is a shame that he has to try to clear his name if he is innocent of the charges leveled against him in the media.
Burke Backer Says:
June 26th, 2007 8:35 PM
Didi, I really support what you are saying, maybe because I feel emotional about this too. He has already been tried and convicted by some of the fans of this show and certainly by some of the gay online gossip columnists. He has little to lose in telling his side of the story. I don't think he has any cause to sue ABC. They may have treated him poorly or failed to protect him from lies and media overreaction, but they do not have to rehire anyone they don't want to rehire. I don't think he has a case there. But if TR Knight purposefully mislead the press and manipulated the facts to promote himself and in the process caused Isaiah to lose millions in income and to suffer great anguist as a result of the media and fan reaction to an inaccurate version of the events of last October, he may have a lawsuit against Knight. I don't think he would have mentioned Patrick Dempsey if he had not spoken with him beforehand to be assured of his support. No one on the cast has said anything yet about Isaiah's interview because ABC holds their contracts. They will only be allowed to say what ABC wants said. It may not have anything at all to do with who they believe or what they think about the entire incident. Many have said Isaiah should not have been fired and that he will be missed. Patrick Dempsey, specifically has had many positive and supportive things to say about Isaiah since the whole thing began. I think they settled their differences minutes after the entire thing on October 9th. It is Knight who has continued this entire homophobe thing for months and months, even though there is no history or facts to support it.
Burke Backer Says:
June 26th, 2007 8:16 PM
Isaiah should stop talking about it? He just started talking about it. For 8 months he wasn't allowed to say anything other than that which ABC orchestrated. Now he is able to tell what happened. I have heard only one version of this incident from Isaiah and from Patrick. According to Patrick in an magazine interview he was on a phone in the production office and didn't realize they were waiting for him on the set. Isaiah was angry that Patrick had kept them waiting and called him on it. According to both men they got into a shouting match during which Isaiah told Patrick that he, Isaiah, was not Patrick's little f-word. TR was not there. According to Isaiah the word was not directed at TR nor did it refer to TR. It was a private argument on a closed set. It should never have never gone beyond the people involved, Patrick and Isaiah. TR went to the press with his public coming out in order to call attention to himself and promote his career and let the press believe that this onset incident led to his public disclosure of his gay lifestyle. If you listen to TR's statement, he never once referred to the onset incident, but by his timing allowed the media to make this assumption and never once bothered to correct it. Isaiah has further stated that TR wanted to expand his role on the show. It seems very believable lto me since that is exactly what has happened. He hasn't deviated from his story and to my knowledge has only given two interviews about it. One to his home town newspaper which was picked up by the Associated Press and the other to the online blog of the Black Gay Activists who have supported him throughout this fiasco. I'm tired of this too. Believe me. I was tired of it clear back in October because awful things were being said about my favorite actor on the show without any facts to back it up just rumor and inuendo. Awful accusations where leveled at Isaiah that just did not make sense considering his long history in the entertainment field without prior problems with the gay community. ABC orchestrated a reaction to the October incident on Oprah and many people chose not to believe it. I think Isaiah deserves the opportunity to clear his name. That is all he is trying to do. I'm so sorry that people are reacting negatively to it. If Isaiah is innocent of the things that have been slung at him, we should at least hear him out.

Ugh - I didn't really pay too much attention to this whole fiasco.
IW made a mistake, he got fired. Now it just sounds like he's complaining.
I don't think anything he can do will get him back on GA, so he should just move on and get over it.
If he really wants to get over it, he'd stop drawing attention to it and move on.
Personally, I find this whole thing to be a bit of a botched PR mistake that exploded -- and like Britney in rehab, I could live without hearing more about it.

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THIS WORLD!
