As a person who does PR for a living...you really dont't control your clients, you clean up after them. With that said, Howard Bragman should have kept HIS mouth shut. But as far as Washington coming out now, that's good PR. He is clearing his name. I am for one glad he is. It's about time he came out and I always knew this was purely calculated by T.R. Knight. Knight completely twisted everything, and from day one, he lied when he said "I heard Washington call me a f---." He never heard anything!! He wasn't even in the room. And for all you know, Dempsey and others could have said let people know how I feel about it, but the Grey's cast can't let it come out directly from their mouth or ABC can sue them. And if they didn't want him to divulge info on private convos, they should have thought about that before they let him go down for the rap and staying silent. Like Washington said, he spent all this time trying to do things for the "family" but where was the family when he needed them. They fired him. He owes them absolutely nothing.

Obviously, you tell them I think it'd be best if you do this or that, but ultimately, your client will do whatever they want to, and you clean up after them. Washington clearing his name is good PR. It's the basis of crisis communications. Look at some of the major oops! in history (tylenol, exxon, merck). I am not debating whether these examples were right or wrong in the first place, but if something is published about you that is not true, you counter. Personal I think this show got bigger than what some of them were ready to handle. I'm not totally sure about TR because his contract talk's were kind of quiet but it was obvious that Katie wanted a lot bigger piece of the pie. I do believe she deserved what Sandra and the other's got but if she thought she earned more than that she was wrong. About the only thing I have heard Patrick say about it was that some took it in stride and some were over whelmed by it. Out of the other 11 cast members only 2 have made a big deal out of what Isaiah said that I'm aware of. I just hope it does'nt destroy the show we have all come to love.

It seems to me that the Media overlooked the main reason this all started. IW got physical with PD when PD was late to the set after meeting with one of the writers. IW was upset that they were getting a late start on the set and he took it out on PD and TR. He lost control over is anger and became verbal and physical abusive. IW has been rumored to have a very bad temper. I too liked the character Dr Burke and he will be missed. I hope that IW can move pass this and focus on his future acting career so the rest of the Grey's Anatomy cast can too.
Didi Says:

IW has decided to relate the chronology of events as he experienced them. Simple. He is not trying to "bring his ex-colleagues down" nor is he trying to hurt PD. I believe these are things that really happened and IW is choosing to talk about them honestly; some may not like what he is revealing but what was that saying about the truth again?... Why is it easy to see IW as the liar/baddie in this tale? And more worryingly, why is PD (or TRK for that matter) seen as some sort of perfect Mr Nice Guy? Are we confusing the person with the character they play on screen? Just because Burke is arrogant and dominant this somehow translates into IW being a jerk? And Derek Shephard is softspoken and gentle so therefore he is honest, never speaks badly of anyone? Give me a break. They are HUMAN beings in case you've forgotten with all the same flaws or imperfections as Joe Bloggs.
Who knows how IW feels? I always say that no matter how much you rationalise it, you cannot truly undestand what another individual is going through unless you have lived the life and experiences of that person. So I would not be too quick to judge him. I feel his IS angry and hurt and feels betrayed, let down, abandoned, sold down the river ..all these things and maybe more. This is the way he chooses to express his pain and hopefully heal. If what he is revealing now proves embarassing for a few, well tough. He now knows you never gave a toss about him.

Didi, I felt I had to comment on your post. You say that the GA actors are human...yes they are, no one here is disputing that in the least. Some of us here are saying that IW should stop talking about this and move on. Some are saying he should stick up for himself, and still some others are saying that IW can go ahead and do what he wants, but keep other people out of it.
IW may not be trying to hurt Patrick, no one said IW was. But, at the VERY LEAST, if IW wants to defend himself against Disney firing him, he should do it in a way where he doesn't have to say 'So and so said this about TR Knight'. IW shouldn't have to say anything like that in his defense. If IW's case against Disney is strong, he shouldn't have to mention anyone who is (supposedly) on his side. Seems to me, so far, no one has come out to defend IW. They all look to be distancing themselves from this, likely because they've been told to by Disney Co. (and, they're also tired of this BS). If there's a lawsuit, look for Dempsey, et al, to be on the witness stand, or to give the court a written statement to get out of having to appear in court.
Seems to me your post was pretty emotional even though you were saying that WE should be rational about this.
I just seen on Yahoo that NBC has stalled its talks about hiring IW. They better think long and hard about hiring that loose cannon.

What I HAVE seen first hand is the public behavior of ALL the cast...and I feel fairly comfortable forming my own opinion based on that.
I'm very interested to hear what IW has to say on LKL, but I really think he's digging his own grave. I think he went over the line when he brought other actors (PD and CW) into this. The majority of the cast has tried to stay out of this fiasco.

I am getting sick and tired of hearing all these different versions of the incidents that happened, and oddly enough, they are all coming from the same person- ISAIAH WASHINGTON. I could not even read that whole article it was so upsetting. All he trying to do is blame it on other actors (PD and TRK) and it is only getting him in a deeper hole. People are all getting tired of hearing about what he has to say and are never going to believe that it is all of a sudden someone else's fault. I wish that people would stop giving him the press time and save everyone a great amount of time.
Oh and one more thing--- T.R KNIGHT SHOULD NOT BE FIRED. EVER EVER EVERRR!!!
Burke Backer Says:
June 26th, 2007 7:51 PM
No, justanotherGAfan, Isaiah did not get physical with Patrick. That was just another inaccuracy that has been perpetuated. Both Patrick and Isaiah as well as TR, James Pickens, Jr., Kate Walsh and even Katherine Heigl have said that it was not a physical altercation and nothing happened beyond words. So many people are passing judgment based on outright lies.
Nicola, what if TR Knight is the jerk for letting the press and the fans believe that Isaiah directed a slur at him when it simply wasn't true. It has seemed apparent to me from the beginning that Knight was using this incident for his own benefit at the expense of his castmate, the show, and the fans. What I don't understand is why he was allowed to do it. Why was Isaiah not allowed to comment on the incident but Knight could go on Ellen and spread his vicious rumors. If Dempsey confirms Isaiah's side of the story, Knight should be fired in my opinion and as long as he remains on this show, I will never watch another episode.
The comments on this thread make me really wonder. Why are you so quick to believe Knight and judge that Isaiah is not telling the truth?. How would you feel if you had been at the receiving end of so much hatred over someone else's manipulation of the truth. I cannot stand to even look at TR Knight. What a selfish jerk to purposefully let people believe that he came out because of something that Isaiah said when he wasn't there and it wasn't directed at him or about him. He took advantage of the situation for some media coverage. How self serving to want to advance your career at the expense of the people who work with you. Isaiah has withstood horrible, horrible comments made about him for absolutely nothing more than getting into an argument with Dempsey over Patrick's late arrival for a shoot.
I'm confused as to why Isaiah is going over the line by bringing out the truth when TR was not going over the line by going on national television and promoting lies. How is he a lose cannon for wanting to clear his name. I completely support him and hope that the truth comes out from a neutral source, such as Dempsey, so that once and for all we can put this to rest and so that people can see TR Knight for what he really is, not the victim, but rather the perpetrator of the majority of the problems. If Isaiah is telling the truth, and I believe he is, he is right. ABC fired the wrong guy.
Burke Backer Says:
June 26th, 2007 8:16 PM
Isaiah should stop talking about it? He just started talking about it. For 8 months he wasn't allowed to say anything other than that which ABC orchestrated. Now he is able to tell what happened. I have heard only one version of this incident from Isaiah and from Patrick. According to Patrick in an magazine interview he was on a phone in the production office and didn't realize they were waiting for him on the set. Isaiah was angry that Patrick had kept them waiting and called him on it. According to both men they got into a shouting match during which Isaiah told Patrick that he, Isaiah, was not Patrick's little f-word. TR was not there. According to Isaiah the word was not directed at TR nor did it refer to TR. It was a private argument on a closed set. It should never have never gone beyond the people involved, Patrick and Isaiah. TR went to the press with his public coming out in order to call attention to himself and promote his career and let the press believe that this onset incident led to his public disclosure of his gay lifestyle. If you listen to TR's statement, he never once referred to the onset incident, but by his timing allowed the media to make this assumption and never once bothered to correct it. Isaiah has further stated that TR wanted to expand his role on the show. It seems very believable lto me since that is exactly what has happened. He hasn't deviated from his story and to my knowledge has only given two interviews about it. One to his home town newspaper which was picked up by the Associated Press and the other to the online blog of the Black Gay Activists who have supported him throughout this fiasco. I'm tired of this too. Believe me. I was tired of it clear back in October because awful things were being said about my favorite actor on the show without any facts to back it up just rumor and inuendo. Awful accusations where leveled at Isaiah that just did not make sense considering his long history in the entertainment field without prior problems with the gay community. ABC orchestrated a reaction to the October incident on Oprah and many people chose not to believe it. I think Isaiah deserves the opportunity to clear his name. That is all he is trying to do. I'm so sorry that people are reacting negatively to it. If Isaiah is innocent of the things that have been slung at him, we should at least hear him out.
Burke Backer Says:
June 26th, 2007 8:35 PM
Didi, I really support what you are saying, maybe because I feel emotional about this too. He has already been tried and convicted by some of the fans of this show and certainly by some of the gay online gossip columnists. He has little to lose in telling his side of the story. I don't think he has any cause to sue ABC. They may have treated him poorly or failed to protect him from lies and media overreaction, but they do not have to rehire anyone they don't want to rehire. I don't think he has a case there. But if TR Knight purposefully mislead the press and manipulated the facts to promote himself and in the process caused Isaiah to lose millions in income and to suffer great anguist as a result of the media and fan reaction to an inaccurate version of the events of last October, he may have a lawsuit against Knight. I don't think he would have mentioned Patrick Dempsey if he had not spoken with him beforehand to be assured of his support. No one on the cast has said anything yet about Isaiah's interview because ABC holds their contracts. They will only be allowed to say what ABC wants said. It may not have anything at all to do with who they believe or what they think about the entire incident. Many have said Isaiah should not have been fired and that he will be missed. Patrick Dempsey, specifically has had many positive and supportive things to say about Isaiah since the whole thing began. I think they settled their differences minutes after the entire thing on October 9th. It is Knight who has continued this entire homophobe thing for months and months, even though there is no history or facts to support it.
Burke Backer Says:
June 26th, 2007 8:53 PM
I know you are tired of hearing from me, maybe as tired as you are of hearing from Isaiah, but I still want to say thank you to Donna, Didi, Sabrina, Dinofig, and Belgian Grey. Thank you for supporting Isaiah. He needs those of us who believe him to speak out. And, Hot4Dempsey, he is absolutely not trying to bring Patrick down. He is trying to show their solidarity. They respect each other. Have you read any of Patrick's statements about Isaiah? They have all been positive. He didn't make any negative statement about Patrick. All he is saying is that it was TR making it uncomfortable on the set and that Patrick can attest to that. I think he believes that the fans will believe Patrick even if they don't believe him. I hope that Patrick is able to confirm his version of the story, but am sure that Patrick is smart enough not to jeopardize his job on GA. He may have a little more leverage though because without Patrick there is no GA. Truthfully no one else is indispensible other than Patrick no matter who you support or who you love. I think Isaiah only referred to Patrick because he along with Isaiah are the only ones involved in the initial altercation who know the truth. It is a shame that he has to try to clear his name if he is innocent of the charges leveled against him in the media.

He's been the whipping boy for ABC and Grey's Execs. He's kept his mouth shout for Patrick Dempsey as well. It's unfortunate that his name has to come up in all this. But, what I don't understand is why people are upset about Dempsey being brought up. Why is it okay for Isaiah to be pissed on and lied on and used and fired and on top of all that still expected to keep his mouth shut about everybody,s part in it. They basically made that man bend over and screwed him with a broken bottle and then gave him an enema with powered glass and alcohol. I'm so sorry that people are reacting negatively to it. If Isaiah is innocent of the things that have been slung at him, we should at least hear him out.

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO THIS WORLD!

Ugh - I didn't really pay too much attention to this whole fiasco.
IW made a mistake, he got fired. Now it just sounds like he's complaining.
I don't think anything he can do will get him back on GA, so he should just move on and get over it.
If he really wants to get over it, he'd stop drawing attention to it and move on.
Personally, I find this whole thing to be a bit of a botched PR mistake that exploded -- and like Britney in rehab, I could live without hearing more about it.

It's not fair to expect Isaiah to just get over it! He's been carrying this heavy load and protecting everybody for nine months. It's time for him to unload. It's not fair! Then after that still made him be quiet about the whole thing, patted him on the butt like a good little boy and sent him on his merry way. HECK, I'D SING LIKE A DOGGONE PARROT!
