    haha.
    i agree with cat!
isiah should have NEVER said the word he said.
he offended not only T.R. but many many viewers.
and its not T.R. fault he got fired.
ugh. isiah should not have started to blame it on T.R.
it was all Isiah's fault for saying it and T.R. was just standing up for himself and many other people.

  2. Michele Says:

Whatever really happened we will never know. From all that I have read it seems to me that IW's contract should have been renewed. Oh well, what does it matter now? Burke is no more. I don't think he would come back even if they handed him an offer on a silver platter! It's a shame that Shonda had little or no control in this matter. Or did she? After all, it is her show. Anyway, I will continue to watch Grey's, I love the show. Can't wait for next season!

  3. They got it right Says:

Ok, so here's the thing...I'm pretty certain that I.W. is just pissed that he got fired and is now trying to push the blame off of himself in order to make him look better, but it's not working. if he just have used the slur once, in the so called argument with patrick, things may not have gotten so out of control. but when he purposely used it again at the golden globes or w/e it seems to me like he was wanting the attention. burke wasn't the most loved character on grey's anyway, so why he would feel the need to do this is unthinkable to me. it made everyone on the show feel incredibly comfortable and also overshadowed their very deserved win. i just don't get wat he's trying to prove by blaming Knight.

  4. nogreyswidoutburke Says:

    bayfront - TOTALLY AGREEEEEE
    I Want the family back!

  5. Dark and Twisty Lee Says:

Isaiah probably wouldn't have gotten fired if he would have kept his mouth shut at the Golden Globes.

  6. dinofigg Says:

I agree with Burke Backer, like always. I think that ABC did fire the wrong guy, TRK was the one who started this whole ordeal. This whole situation should have been avoided. T.R Knight was & is obviously very selfish, which is disappointing. Now one of the best characters on the show is gone & I hope T.R is overjoyed with what he has done.

  7. GA Freak Says:

IW needs to stop this! Blaming TR. is ridiculous! He's the one who used the word. By bringing continual attention the incident he's just making himself look worse!

  8. Belgian Grey Says:

I ask myself question since I read in a Belgian TV magazine interviews from PD, SO and ED. They all did a comment about IW firing they either don't agree, think it is a bad move or that the show will loose from it. Did any of you see the same comments in US papers?

  9. Belgian Grey Says:

By the way at the Golden Globes IW answered a question of a journalist which was not very clear in the noise. Did we ever read what exactly was the question By the way I didn't need to have TR coming out it was obvious from the first epis. OK I admit I have a lot of gay friends and I even know before they do when someone is gay or not. Must be because I fell in love with one when I was oh so very young.

  10. Sabrina Says:

It's funny because you guys never ever listened to the problem in the first place. When the news story broke out about Washington, it had everything to do with a "tiff" on Grey's set. It had NOTHING to do with Knight; only Washington and Dempsey. Washington clearly did not call Knight the f word. He called Dempsey that word out of anger; not as a homophobic slur. So now the guy is getting punished for being a gay basher when he isn't one. Geez, he even played a gay man in a past movie role. Hell, GAYS are petitioning to get Washington back on Grey's because THEY know he wasn't gay bashing. A GLAAD member even spoke out about how Washington has done more for gays than Knight has ever done pre and post announcement of coming out of the closet.

Knight pulled a b**ch move. He knew he was the weakest character on the show. He pulled a grimy move and used the Washington/Dempsey tiff as a way to get the world on his side. Did any of you grey's fans ever notice Knight had minimal roles on the show up until the Washington/Dempsey tiff? Right after it Knight was suddenly this stud that slept with every hot chick in the hospital, has some big breakdown about his father, and oh no he failed his intern test!

People are starting to see right through Knight. And the fact that he even had the nerve to compare his situation to Ellen's HUGE career strides for gays and lesbians is pure BS. Knight should be kicked out on his butt. Knight knew a black guy would be crucified for any little mistake and he'd come out looking like the poor innocent victim. He cashed in on it. I hope ABC is happy.

And no, I am not black.

  11. Alexis Says:

He has a right to say what went on in his own words. I don't think it's a matter of race either. I think it's a matter of who can spin the story to their advantage.

The shame of it is, that Burke and Christina were the most believable. I will miss IW and I will miss Burke even more on the show. I'm getting tired of the endless sex romps. I'm not a prude by any means, but sometimes I wonder if it's not a bet to have George sleep with all the female characters on the show. Don't know how much longer I'll stay a viewer if it doesn't start making sense.

  12. DixieGirl Says:

IW is going to be on Larry King tonight (6/22)....

  13. Alessia Says:

I do believe that IW is beating a dead horse. It's unfortunate what has happened...but carrying on like this isn't going to do him much good at this point.
I know this is Hollywood and image is everything..but isn't it enough that IW knows whether he is against gays or not? Isn't it enough that his closest friends know how he truly is? Or is all this fuss b/c he's worried about his rep in the industry. I wouldn't think he needs to worry if he's doing a movie right now...obviously somebody gave him a chance to prove his merit as an actor.
I don't know about TK's role in all of this..but it does seem that the incident occurred when IW and PD were doing a scene together..and that the argument was between the two of them..and did not involve TK.

I mean, really, at this point - is this anything more than crying over spilled milk?

I think everybody just needs to move on. Meaning the cast..not us...lol...what else do we have to do? lol

  14. Diana Fernandez Says:

    i loved burke!!!!!
wont be the same with out him!

  15. MJ Says:

Hmm...now that we've being hearing one side of the story, it's time to hear the other side. This is the reason why IW hadn't been talking - another condition in order to keep his job. I knew there were pieces missing to this puzzle, and those pieces had TR and KH faces on them, but I also knew PD involvement were more than the show was letting on.

  16. JustIN Says:

I am tired of all of this since Washington is really not worth the commotion in any way at all. He was a weak link on the show as an actor and as a character and it is good that they were able to realize this and get rid of him for whatever reason. I am sure that he is headed for oblivion now and he will just have to come to terms with it. I am also tired of the whole American Straight Agenda. It is really the downfall of the country. Other countries in the world are enlightened and not constantly bombarded by the mind turds of the bible belt.

  17. Sam Says:

And just like his kool-aide drinking fans he puts the blame on everyone but himself.

The cast of GA had resolved their issues. If Washington had kept his mouth shut at the Golden Globes then this probably wouldn't be happening. He brought this entire mess on himself and it's really sad he can't see that because if he hasn't seen it by now he probably never will. And will continue to repeat his bad behavoir.

And stop it with the racist crap. I never saw him as an angry black man, I don't even see him as an angry man. I don't see him as a MAN at all. He's a child who never learned how to play with others and whines and cries when he doesn't get his way. A real man takes responsibility for his actions.

  18. Heather Says:

I am really disappointed with ABC over this decision. I enjoy watching Grey's Anatomy. Yes, IW made a terrible decision and said horrible things about a cast mate. Yes, others have been fired in the past for saying raciest and sexist remarks. IW did everything that ABC required and I believe that he truly learned his lesson.
IW is one of the few African American leading men on television. He made the character of Dr. Burke interesting, funny, sympathetic and intelligent. Dr. Burke is a leading role on the show. I watch Grey's Anatomy because of the diversity of the characters and the different nuances of the actors. I enjoy IW's portrayal of Dr. Burke and am disappointed to see him and his character leave the show. IW and the other cast members are the added spark that makes the show sizzle.
I believe ABC needs to re-evaluate their position on this matter. I will still watch the show however I disagree with ABC's handling of the IW incident and the Star Jones incident from the VIEW. I believe that without IW on the show it will make the show shallow and soap operaish. ABC is setting the show up for failure without the essential components that made the show a hit in the first place.

  19. Belgian Grey Says:

DixieGirl IW will be with Larry King on the 29th only.

  20. MJ Says:

The child in this situation is TR. I don't believe for one minute that this would have ended with the GG incident, if that was true then the GG incident wouldn't have happened. People had allready made up their minds when the story was first leaked. TR wasn't going to let it go. He was scheduled to be on the Ellen show before the GG.

IW is not trying to blame anyone, he's just telling his side, something he wasn't able to do, and he needs to that if only for his well being, and as a fan I would like to hear him, because I've always stood behind him and knew he wasn't the villian in thiis. He's not doing this to change the minds of the haters are the gays that hate him, he's doing it for his peace of mine And I still feel there was more that Shonda Rhimes could have done to help this situation, but she was just looking out for...other things. When IW made the comment at the GG, she smiiled because she knew his statement wasn't meant to be hurtful toward TR.

  21. MJ Says:

However, I do agree "stop it with the homophobic crap."

  22. Sarah Says:

An on-set situation exploded into the media. Mistakes were made by both parties. It's unfortunate Isaiah Washington got fired. If he wants to try to clear his name, he has a right to (even if it may not help him). All I know is I will miss his character on the show.

  23. bayfront Says:

Life is full of should haves and shouldn't haves. IW should have not lost his tempers but he did. IW should have apologized and he did. IW should not have said anything on GG but he did. IW should have (according to his ABC bosses)apologized/etc and he did to keep his job AND show his remorse. IW should'nt lose his job but he did. IW should lose his job and he did. IW should not have brought out the hidden stuff but he did. IW should not defend himself but he is. IW should be forgiven, he shouldn't. IW should be given another chance, he shouldn't. Change to IW to I or You, I wonder what the should have's and shouldn't haves will be.

  24. Burke Backer Says:

Justin and Sam, why is it so hard for you to even entertain the idea that Isaiah is telling the truth and that TR, as I have said all along, has been using this entire incident for self promotion? Go to www.keithboykin.com for more of this story. TR is not coming off as the "poor victim" that he has portrayed himself for the benefit of the media. He comes off as a manipulative, self serving, jerk who happens to be gay. I believe Isaiah without question. It is the only explanation that makes any sense considering Isaiah has had two decades in the entertainment business and not one incident to point to any homophobic behavior prior to this supposed incident. In fact, just the opposite, Isaiah has made very public and supportive statements about the gay community as far back as a decade ago. Patrick Dempsey has supported Isaiah over the past eight months in any way that ABC will allow. Just because he is a gay man, does not make TR ethical, honest, or even a very nice person. I am hopeful that someone will have the courage to corroborate Isaiah's story so that the Isaiah-bashers like the two of you will realize that your hatred has been misplaced. This man has never deserved the horrible things said about him since October and he certainly does not deserve to be fired. He is an extremely talented actor according to many in the industry including his castmates.

  25. Burke Backer Says:

I'm not sure, Alessia. If it were me that people had been bulding a case against based on lies and manipulation of the truth, I would really want to clear my name and make sure that my side of the story was heard even if some people do not believe me. I'm glad he is speaking out at last. As a fan, I feel vindicated in my belief in him. He has emailed some of us to read this article because what we think of him matters to him. I find him to be a completely good person who has been unfairly tried and convicted in the media based on very little factual information. My heart goes out to him and his family and I really hope that someone neutral comes forward to corroborate his side of the events of October 9th. I do not have a single doubt but what he is telling the truth. I know that his version of what happened at the Golden Globes is true because I have it on tape and I know he was responding to a question by Ted Casablanca from eonline about the supposed homophobic slur. Casablanca then bragged about his question and the shocking response in his column the next day. This is the same online reporter who then made a case that using the word in his denial was tantamont to repeating the slur of Knight. That of course is not true, but he made a good case for the too easily convinced fans already sympathetic towards Knight for something that did not even occur. I am proud of Isaiah for finally telling us what really happened. Because I believe Isaiah, I do think Knight should be fired for creating this stir and hurting his castmate, the show, and fans of Preston Burke for his own personal gain.
