  1. Mary Says:

You know what, I was upset with all that happened in the end, and I really really want Meredith and Derek to be together, And My heart broke for Cristina. I also think that George and Izzy would be a good thing, in my opinion george got married to Callie way tooooooo fast. I'm just curious where Preston Burke has went off to, is he off the show or will he still be there next season. And next season if anything goes on between Mcdreamy and Lexie Grey, I will be sooooo upset, but honestly I know things are looking down for mer/der but in the end I know it will all work out. I also think that Bailey so deserved to get Chief, I feel bad for her. But you have to think about it...... if none of these bad things happened in this episode, it would have been boring, and thats the whole point of a season finale, to keep you on edge, not know whats going to happen next season, making you wait all summer. I think that Shonda is an incredible writer, and next season is going to be a good one.

  2. paulette Says:

Seriousely Shonda, people do change, they change to accomodate each other when they r in relationships. It does not mean they lose themselves. It's how the marriage works, or relationship works. U give a little, take a little, it's
how they grow together. To me, you are making GA into a big soap opera. The reason I got hooked
into GA in the first place was because it depicted real people n real relationships but now you are streching it too much. yuck! The wedding was a joke, only in soap operas, would that happen. Even
    then, it was too much.

  3. the1ndonly Says:

Hey, Callie got the chief resident position... there was also a chief of surgery position that Derek was offered and turned down. Completely different positions to answer your question Bright&Shiny.

I agree that Mer and Der deserve some happiness. I wish there was some positive besides the Chief who I haven't been invested in emotionally really at all. It was a very unfortunate ending that makes the summer easier to go through because I'm just so dissappointed in where the show is going. I'll be back next season, but not half as obsessed unless Shonda gives me a reason in that first episode.

  4. Belgian Grey Says:

Where did you get the horrible info that IW is not in season 4? If this is the case it is really stupid and proves of the lack of intolerance some people have. I've said this many times before who never used a "? letter" word comes forward. This is such an hypocrisy makes meso mad. Remember the expression: to see the mote in one's brother's eye.

Positive thing is that I will not be waiting all summer for the next season because I don't care anymore.

Did you see on IMDb Shonda's her starmeter dropped last week by 11% wondr what it will be this week.

  6. Debs Says:

I agree withe Mer/Der suports they have to be together they need to beed together. Maybe somthing needs to scare Mer in to realiseing she loose her McDreamy if she´s not careful. She seriously needs to wake up & realise what an amaing guy Derek is & how lucky she is to him´Another PD dosen´t the golden golb best actor in a drama for this season alone there´s somth wrong.

  7. dani Says:

the thing is, if the story gets too good for meredith and derek, it wont be interesting.. might as well end the show, right? we need more problems, but we all know that at the end they will get together again..

  8. Rena Says:

Hey, here's one for you?? What about Izzie and Derek??? HA HA HA HA HA. Just thought that I would throw that one in. Seriously, I do hope that Mer/Der end up together. The drama is absolutely killing me. My husband thinks that I have gone crazy getting this excited over a tv show. My 2-year old daughter just loves Der. I almost think she enjoys the show as much as I do :)

  9. Sue Says:

Spin all you want Shonda, but you took a good show that had humor, romance and serious moments and ruined it. Why does anyone want to watch a show that is all doom and gloom. I don't know what you will do with the show next season but you have lost this viewer.

  10. kara Says:

i absolutely did not like the season finale..very disappointing! meredith and derek deserves to be together. i hope to see more happy moments of them in the next season else the show would no longer interest many viewers. And lastly, i don't like the "other" grey from the moment she first appeared.. and i think many would agree that bad impressions last..

  11. mj Says:

I don't agree at all that Burke pushed Cristina. He let her know what he wanted from her and the relationship. Cristina is a highly intelligent and stubborn individual, I don't believe for one second that she did anything she didn't want to do. If she didn't want him or want to be with him than she wouldn't have been afraid of losing him. So no I don't buy that at all.

  12. maureen Says:

For all that it is worth I really want the mer/der relationship to work. Meridith lost her mother and step mother all in one season, almost lost her life and what else did she go through.Th stress with her relatioship and when ,just when was derek happy wiht her. He complianed that she snored and you are going to tell me the many time sthey slept togther before his wife showed up in season one that she never snored. he complained about everythign she did and the only time I saw compasion was when she was amost dead and then he complained that she does know how to swim why didn't she swim. When we saw her inthe water she was fighting and after so long of fighting you just get tired and let go. So he needs to be more understanding to her as well as her to him.

And the other grey as a intern NO WAY! get rid of her.
George and Callie, big mistake but what is it with george the only one he has not slept with is christina. So is that next. she is sad about burke leaving so they get drunk together..
It was wonderful to bring back denny for those few episodes but you need to give Izzy someone who will truley love her and not attached and not another patient.
This seems more and more like my fav. soap opera. but I still love it anbd I just got the happiness that I wanted on my soap. Sami and Lucas finally got married so i know there is happiness out there in TV land lets get some on Greys.

They showed the commercial for Private Practice the show allison is goin gon but there was no mention of her leaving. will we see it in the season opener of Greys??

  13. TCluvsGA Says:

Shonda... I loved the season finale. Each season you truly out-do the last so I HAVE FAITH IN YOU! I know, in September, I will again fall head over heels in love with a new season of Greys Anatomy with evolved characters and new story lines.
I think your doing a great thing... if the show were the same for 3 whole season, if the characters were the same for 3 whole seasons... we would all be bored and we would stop watching. We all come back to see what you cook up for us so I think it is clear that your doing everything right.

THANK YOU FOR ANOTHER GREAT SEASON!!!

  14. Belgian Grey Says:

George slept with Syph Nurse, Meredith, Callie, Izzie
Alex slept with Syph Nurse, Izzie, Addison
    Mark slept with Callie, Addison
Derek slept with Meredith and Addison
    Burke only slept with Cristina

If that ain't soapy so it is sweet George who is the winner for sleeping around. Never looked at it this way.

Shonda has definitely a problem with relationships between man and woman the only faithful couple is Joe and his boyfriend. Strange very strange.

  15. TCluvsGA Says:

Oh... for the record... I really am un-impressed with "Private Practice".

There are two reasons a show/movie will bomb...

    1. Too many famous people... and
    2. Too much "hub bub" (ads, promotion, etc)

I count Amy Brennemen, Taye Diggs, Tim Daley, Kate Walsh and Chris Lowell... that is WAY too many "famous" "big name" people for a show to be successful. There is no character development when you know these people from past work... not like Greys where we hardly knew anyone from big name pictures or sitcoms AND...

I don't believe that the wayward episode of Greys with Addison heading to L.A. was given to us as a break from GA (as was stated by Shonda). I think it was an underhanded promotion for Kate Walshes new television show. SO that is not just one of the reasons... but both of the reasons a show will bomb... both in PP's corner.

I honestly think that if the two shows are linked (GA and PP, like Buffy and Angel and etc) it will bomb terribly. PP is a sinking ship and I don't give it more than a few episodes before it is cancelled...
I do hope the two shows aren't "put in bed together" because the sheets of Greys Anatomy are just dirty enough without PP involved.

Hey... I had to gripe about SOMETHING! HA!

  16. Kathy Says:

ok, call me crazy but I'm really struggling here to find something positive to hang on to for season 4 when it comes to Mer/Der. I have listened to the podcast again and picked up on a few things that I didn't the first time. At the beginning when the announcer introduces Shonda and Betsy and she gives alittle summary of what the episode was about...she comments on Burke leaves Cristina, Meredith has a decision to make, etc. I didn't notice that comment when I heard it the first time....which tellls me its not officially over for these two!!!! Yeah! and also when Betsy and SHonda were talking about the scene when Derek tells Merdith to put him out of his misery...and she says she needs to go because Cristina is waiting for her and doesn't give him an answer.....they said Derek realizes that maybe she is so damaged that she can't do anymore than what she is doing and Betsy says it is NOT because she doesn't want to commit, she doesn't know how to and SHonda agrees that she really wants to!
Call me crazy, but I want to think that iss omething to hold on to. We know they love each other and they both want things to work out like a "fairytale" should and I think that is exactly what SHonda was trying to show everybody in this episode. You have to except everybody for who they are and they way they are and that becomes your own "fairytale" and then you realize the relationship will work on that level..not the "pretend fairtale" that we all dream about. You accept your life the way it is and make the best of it! I think that is what SHonda did with all of the characters. She broke everything down so everyone can face the way things are in their life, not how they want them to be. I think this is what Meredith has to realize more than Derek because he accepts her as she is and she has to realize life isn't always the way you think it should be. I think that these two will be together in season 4, like I said earlier, I don't know how long it will take but its not over for these two. Lexie may be alittle problem but I don't think she will break them up....at least I hope not!
Ok, well thats my thinking on the Mer/Der issue as of today. I hope I'm right! Does anyone else see what I'm talking about here with Mer/Der??

  18. kathy Says:

Sorry, didn't mean to post twice!

  19. DixieGirl Says:

Oh, Kathy - so glad you posted that. I'm looking for shreds of hope too! Haven't listened to the podcasts in about 3 weeks - got some catching up to do! And I definitely see your perspective.

And there are so many poss EVERYWHERE!!! Lots and lots of reaction going on...i guess that's what Shonda wanted, huh?

Although I would've liked happy endings - my biggest complaint is with the overall writing in S3. It was so uneven and inconsistent. Seems like so much of the plot development was geared around sensational unrelated scenarios....making the characters do things for no apparent reason....As everyone else has said - S1 and S2 made us laugh & cry all at the same time --- I feel like S3 has just been crying and more crying - those little GA moments have been so few and far between.

Shonda's blog made things make a lot more sense...but I'm really getting tired of having to depend on a blog and a podcast to get the whole show. What happened to writing a show well enough that you didn't need all that to explain what happened? grrr

Maybe it's just me --- but I think the writing went downhill when Marti Noxon joined the show...and where is Peter Horton????

BTW - where's BurkeBacker? Sending you heartfelt condolences, BB! I know this isn't the finale you wanted at all....

it's gonna be a long summer

  20. Hawa Says:

I'm completely devasted by this season. But despite all that has happen Grey's Anatomy is very true to life. Life is not all about happy endings. And I'm sure it it was all about good things happening I would easily get bored with this series. So even though I'm so so sad, I get it. Shonda's blog really explained alot for me. I don't know what I'll do this summer w/o Grey's but I'm hopefully for the new season of new beginnings.

  21. AJ Huff Says:

I think after watching this episode and reading many of the comments of other Grey's Fans, that Shonda may have just royally messed up. My reaction at the end of the season finale was not, "I can't wait to see what happens in the fall!" but instead..."that was it?" I was already a little frustrated with the incorporation of the "Private Practice" push during a Grey's episode and now I feel that we have been left with very little to look forward to. I think the writers have just made a BIG mistake! On a positive note...Brothers and Sisters is an awesome show to take Grey's place!

  22. Hawa Says:

And I can't believe some people aren't watching this show anymore because of the bad outcomings of this season.

I didn't realize that everyone's life is so perfect that they can't relate and be hopefull.
If I had that outlook I would have given up on myself a long time ago.

  23. GA-Faithful Says:

Alot of the things that happen I expected to a point. But life isn't perfect as Shonda likes to state often. As much as I wanted Burke and Cristina to get married it would have been a mistake. George not making it past first year intern really upset me and I think it's because he was there for Meredith to make sure she got a second chance just to turn around and fail his. His talk with Bailey made it even more upsetting. I havn't given up on Derek and Meredith either because they love each other so much and I know they are not ready to give up yet. I have had this feeling ever since Addie showed up that they are going to have this major blow with the yelling at the top of their lungs that turns into the hottest passion you have yet to see on GA. Bailey not making chief resident is the only thing that made me so mad I wanted to scream. That was her position she earned it and I know Richard had something to do with it. He cares so much for her and doesn't want to see her destroy her family but Bailey has a better head on her shoulder's than anyone at Seattle Grace but if things keep going like they are she won't for long and I'll get even more upset. We need to have at least one with their head on straight and that has always been Bailey. I am wanting Callie to go away so that George and Izzy can be best friends or lovers I don't care I just want them together also. Now that Addie is gone I think Mark needs to forget about women for a while and work on repairing hiis friendship with Derek. I don't know what to say about Alex he's a great guy but like Meredith he is afraid of commentment. You have to remember their lives were not easy growing up they never really saw how people are really suppose to be treated people just need to have a lot of patients with them. I also believe for the exception of Denny guest stars are over staying to long. It makes their story line less interesting after a while. I think the writters lose some of their edge writting for the main characters and stories start to repeat themselves to much. I still love the show and will continue to watch because like so many I am a Grey's Anatomy addict. So until season 4 have a great summer and enjoy the reruns because that's all we got.

  24. Kat Says:

Wow, I just read almost all the comments that everyone has posted. I agree with the 99.9% of you all...the season finale was terrible! What's left to watch? I hope to God that Burke isn't gone for good, and him and Cristina will get back together. I think Shonda went way overboard, jumped the shark...whatever you want to call it. But she definetely seemed to have killed the show and lost a lot of viewers and respect as well. I think maybe 5 people total said they were excited about next season, and they loved the finale. MerDer is getting old though, but I want them to stay together and just be happy!! But truthfully, it would have been nice to see Burke & Cristina prove everybody wrong and make it through the wedding. If Season 4 is going to be about Lexie Grey & those other interns, I'll have to say goodbye to Grey's.

I'll give Season 4 a shot, though. At least the first couple episode. I will see what it's like, and Burke had better be there. Addison is gone which makes me sad, and if Burke is gone too, then Grey's won't be itself.
DOES ANYONE AGREE WITH ME? IF YOU DO, POST SOMETHING TELLING ME SO!

  25. Lee Says:

i don't agree with the comment above me because i don't think that grey's is going to lose any viewers at all or respect, on the contrary, i think that it's a chance for new beginnings. but i do agree with every1 who was absolutely shocked about how screwed up everyone was in the season finale, i think by now i should have been used to everything going wrong on grey's but i didn't think abosolutely everything would go wrong. i hope that next season the interns (i mean the new residents) will be happy and healthy
btw i was very shocked when i found out the identity of the tramp from joe's bar: lexi grey! lexi grey!
major props to Sandra Oh, in that final scence when she says "he's gone. i'm free. damn it" she was absolutely brilliant!
