Tonight: “Don’t Stand So Close to Me”

Tonight, ABC will be showing an episode from fairly early in Season 3 an hour later than usual. At 10 p.m., “Don’t Stand So Close to Me” will be aired, giving us another chance to see this memorable episode.

Recent events and secrets strain the relationship between Preston and Cristina, the latter of whom is also ostracized by her fellow interns. Meredith’s half-sister, Molly, is admitted to the hospital, while Mark and Derek (and many others) must mend fences and work together to operate on two close-knit brothers… who’d love to be a little less so.

Grey’s Season 3 DVD: Seriously Extended

The Insider has learned that the forthcoming DVD release of Season 3 of Grey’s Anatomy has been subtitled “Seriously Extended,” and Amazon.com has already placed a pre-order page up for the pending set.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 3 DVDThe tentative release date for the Season 3 DVD is September 11.

As far as what “seriously extended” means, that’s anyone’s guess for now. A number of bonus features are likely to be included along with the 25 episodes in their entirety.

The subtitle for the DVD set may just be funny marketing, but it could be an indication of not only deleted scenes, but extended episodes.

This is not a consideration for Grey’s Anatomy alone. There have been rumors that some top current shows may receive extended air times on DVD sets.

However, such a move could mean altering the narrative of the episodes, a huge detractor for some, and enough of a reason to shelve the idea until now at least. So who knows.

Word is, though, that as soon as the DVD set hit pre-order status, Grey’s Anatomy fans started reaching for their credit cards in hordes.

Season three of Grey’s Anatomy was at times apocalyptic for the series’ “dramedy” landscape. On top of some of the more memorable moments in the show’s brief history, the third campaign was a season that began with a predictable dramatic angle, but ended in interpersonal disarray.

This Grey’s Anatomy set will undoubtedly be jam packed with plenty of the traditional DVD extras fans have come to love, like deleted scenes, gag reels, commentaries, and behind the scenes footage.

Again, the Grey’s Anatomy “Seriously Extended” complete third season DVD box set is scheduled to be released September 11, 2007. Grey’s Anatomy’s fourth season will begin shortly thereafter.

You’ll be able to buy the item through the Insider once it becomes available. For now, you can buy Season One or Season Two if you haven’t yet!

Katherine Heigl Visits the Today Show

The lovely Katherine Heigl is making the talk show rounds.

The terrific Grey’s Anatomy actress and her Knocked Up co-star, Seth Rogen, were interviewed on the Today Show on Monday. After the cameras stopped rolling, they continued to chat to MSNBC about the movie, the high expectations surrounding it and their current projects…

The Stars of Knocked Up

Q: The movie is getting great reviews. It’s being called this summer’s version of Wedding Crashers or The 40-Year-Old Virgin. How does that kind of buzz make you guys feel?

Katherine Heigl: It feels pretty good!

Seth Rogen: It makes me angry!! [laughs]

Katherine Heigl: Well there’s a lot of pressure I think. Because you’re just always afraid that if it’s built up so much, then what if it doesn’t do what everyone expects it to do.

Seth Rogen: Yeah that’s true. I hadn’t even thought of that until now. That sucks. Why’d you say that? I felt no pressure before! [both laugh]

Q: Well Seth, you’ve done a movie about virginity [The 40-Year-Old Virgin], and now you’re doing one about getting people knocked up. Is there a sweet family comedy in your future, or what?

Seth Rogen: Well I figured what’s next is babies! I can’t imagine what else.

Katherine Heigl: Next will be like Look Who’s Talking 5, right?

Seth Rogen: Exactly. Maybe I’ll be the voice of a hamster… Yeah, I don’t know. We might jump straight to death next.

Katherine Heigl: Yeah. Cut right to the chase.

Q: So what’s next for you guys? Katherine, I know you’re filming another movie this summer, right?

Katherine Heigl: Yes. It’s called 27 Dresses and it’s a lovely romantic comedy… not nearly as raunchy as this one.

Seth Rogen: Oh no! Well that’s up to you!

Katherine Heigl: I know! There goes all the fun right? I wish it were up to me! Trust me!

Q: What about you Seth. What else is up with you?

Seth Rogen: I’ve got Superbad coming out in August, which I co-wrote and I’m in as well, and Judd Apatow [writer and producer of The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up] produced it. And we just finished shooting The Pineapple Express which comes out the summer of next year.

We’re looking forward to seeing our girl on film. For more on Katherine Heigl and Knocked Up, check out our video section.

Patrick Dempsey On Good Morning America

Prior to his driving the Pace Car at yesterday’s Indianapolis 500, Good Morning America interviewed Patrick Dempsey to discuss his racing passion - as well as what’s going on with his character on Grey’s Anatomy!

Patrick may not have a clue what’s to become of the troubled Derek and Meredith after the way Season 3 ended, but in listening to him, it’s plain to see why this Dr. McDreamy is revered by fans on and off the set.

Here’s the clip of Patrick on the show …

Chandra Wilson On Grey’s Anatomy Finale

The amazing Chandra Wilson, who stars as Dr. Miranda Bailey on ABC’s hit drama, Grey’s Anatomy, will be hanging up her white coat and stethoscope this summer to host SOAPnet’s live, two-hour special from the red carpet of the 34th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.

Not Chief Resident!? Wilson, a longtime fan who admits to watching hours of soaps a day, looks forward to chatting with the folks from her favorite shows.

Entertainment Tonight caught up with the TV doc at a shoot for her upcoming gig, and got a little bit of scoop on Greys Anatomy from the actress whose character surprisingly wasn’t named Chief Resident in the Season 3 finale.

“It is alright,” she tells ET. “[Dr. Bailey] already has her clinic. Maybe if she didn’t have the clinic, she probably would have been in a better position [to land the job], but she is already running that thing. She had those conversations this year with the Chief about doing too much.”

“[Richard Webber] told her: ‘You need to slow down. You need to delegate.’ She doesn’t want to delegate. She wasn’t willing to delegate. She wants to do it all. This was a good lesson about you can’t do it all, or you don’t have to do it all. This is a nice little wake-up call for her.”

Grey’s Anatomy goes back into production in July, and Chandra Wilson has been online scoping fan blogs to get viewers’ take on what they want to happen in the fourth season.

“The fans wish she had made chief resident, but everything in due time,” Chandra said. “She is not an attending yet. She still has that to do. We keep forgetting she has the whole responsibility of the clinic, but the fans are hoping for a showdown between Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Bailey.”

What Chandra won’t do is speculate on rumors as to the future of T.R. Knight and Isaiah Washington on the show.

“I really don’t know what is in store,” she says. “All Shonda Rhimes said is there is some great stuff in store for us. We’re going to be getting back to some fun things.”

Isaiah Washington PSA For GLAAD, GLSEN

Last night, during the repeat of “Six Days,” ABC debuted Isaiah Washington’s much -anticipated public service announcement on behalf o gay rights groups GLAAD and GLSEN (and tolerance of all humans). Here’s the clip.

E! Online: Isaiah Washington Job Searching

Take this with a large grain of salt, since, if you recall, “experts” such as TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello reported that Isaiah Washington was a goner last winter when the controversy over his anti-gay remarks swirled.

One of the 50 Most... Still, E! Online’s Kristin Veitch says she has some dirt on whether or not Isaiah Washington will be staying on Grey’s Anatomy.

She writes:

“I’ve now heard from various reliable sources that Isaiah has been taking meetings in New York and Los Angeles in search of a new job that would take place during the coming TV season, so it certainly appears that Isaiah’s Grey’s Anatomy days are over.

“Insiders at ABC tell me “not everyone will be coming back” to Grey’s this fall, and although T.R. Knight’s fate was also left hanging in the balance after the season finale, I’m hearing he’s gonna be back (gotta wrap up that love triangle, not to mention his betrothed is the new chief resident)!

“But like I said, Isaiah looks to be a goner. Makes that scene of Cristina ripping the shackle off her neck while sobbing “I’m free” and the Chief’s lecture to Burke that he’s “disappointed” in him all the more poignant, no?”

Contrarily, Washington’s publicist, Howard Bragman, said there’s no indication his client won’t be staying on Grey’s next fall. Until we hear anything definitive from Isaiah or from ABC, consider all of this speculation.

Katherine Heigl at Knocked Up Premiere

The lovely Katherine Heigl shines, as always, during the premiere of her new movie, Knocked Up. Katie was joined at the premiere by former co-star Kate Walsh and her fiance, Alex Young.
