"Time After Time" Episode Recap, Music Guide, Quotes & Image Gallery Live

Our history defines us. Time after time after time. But sometimes the best (and most important) history is right now. So says Meredith Grey, and Thursday's all-new Grey's Anatomy showed how wise she can be.

Check out our episode guide to "Time After Time," and discuss the show with fellow viewers in our forums. How do you feel about Christina and Burke, the battle for Chief, or the drama surrounding Jane Doe (or is it Shannon Marie)? And are George and Izzie falling in love? Let us know what you think.

We've also posted our music guide to the episode, including lyrics from five of the six selections. Our complete song listing also tells you when the song is played. We are underway on our image gallery and list of memorable quotes from Thursday as well. Hope you enjoy!

Cristina Burke?

Hope you enjoyed the show's return as much as we did. We'll have more quotes, pics and content coming throughout the day and weekend.

I loved the Bang scenes. They are both really great actors with great chemistry.

  2. Tracey Says:

I loved them, but they are heading for problems. Cristina is doubting the wedding and she is scared of what Colin said.

  3. Sam123 Says:

Yeah, maybe, but, I'm not so sure in this episode that Burktina is finished.

  4. Grey's McBiggest Fan Says:

I can't believe Derek would think of taking chief over Meredith! Don't get me wrong, I loovveee them together, but if he says he needs a 'break' or anything, I really hope she doesn't go back to him. He has been so sweet to her before, and we know he really loves her.. but this is his test. If he really loves Mer, he'll sacrifice chief for her and if he doesn't.. then he doesn't deserve her.

  5. Ale 80 Says:

This episode is good and Burketina is fantastic. However I get a bad vibe about them in the end. I hope to be wrong, but their wedding is doomed. Colin made Cristina doubts herself and her choice. She will fear of losing herself.

  6. LoveThatGrey's Says:

It was a long wait (TOO long), but finally Shonda picked up the Izzie's daughter storyline. Anyone know if the actress playing Hannah is scheduled for more episodes in the near future, or is the storyline heading back to oblivion?

  7. Lea Says:

In the finale the only couple left will be Meredith and Derek. They will have a positive resolution while George and Callie are done, and Cristina will dump Burke to bring back her old self. She has realized Colin was right. His words are ominous and Cristina's look in the end is telling. I was rooting for them, but they are done.

  8. Kiara Says:

After three years, this is the beginning of the end for Bang. Cristina will run away from him and the big fluffy wedding she doesn't want and has never wanted. She won't cancel herslef anymore for him. She has done enough. I am sort of sorry, because IW and sO are the best actors in the show and their chem, istry is hooking
I felt for Meredith, Derek doesn't deserve her. But this will bring them closer in the end. Gizzie has no chemistry at all

  9. McSeriously! Says:

i loved this epy! It was wonderful..i hope that George and Izzie get together...it looks like they are falling in love...WOW Marc in this epy...wow...that is not gonna get him chief.
I think that Callie is pregnant..and how is Jane Doe not Shannon Marie?
same age, height, eye color, tonsils are gone, pregnant, went to seattle to find her husband? It has to be her, and i think Alex likes her a lot and doesn't want her to leave. I can't wait 'til next epy! SERIOUSLY!

  10. Bonnie M Says:

I love my MerDer moments and he will choose Meredith over being chief. I am becoming more convienced that Richard will not step down. What bothers me is how he talks about Derek's relationship with Meredith. Richard is doing the same thing he is just going about it different. He's letting it cloud his judgement about Derek because he promised Ellis he would look after Meredith. He may have had feelings for Ellis but he didn't have a relationship with Meredith anymore than her father did. I would have issues with the fact that people are trying to pertect me when they were not around before to do it. I see more of that George and Izzy bestfriends relationship coming back than a lovers one. He is going to have a hard time trying to balance Callie and Izzy and I don't think he should even try at this point he's making nothing but a mess for himself. As much as I like Burke and Cristina they are not ready for marriage at this point so I don't know why they are really trying. I don't want this to turn out to be where one leaves the other standing at the alter I hate those kind of scene's. I like the way Bailey was there for Izzy and Derek she will help when you need it and tell what she thinks if it's something stupid. Lastly it broke my heart when Alex and Jane Doe had their first fight. Alex doesn't want to let go and it has to be getting frustrating not being able to remember and having no one to claim you. This has become one of my favorite storylines this season.

  11. Aka Says:

I think Burkestina is ready for marriage, but clearly they won't make it. I am very sorry for this.

  12. Elle Kasey Says:

I was so happy with last night's episode. Except for Izzie, who had a justifiable reason to be weepy, the other characters were feeling stronger, more in control. McDreamy got some spine back which had been kinda lacking in all the "best boyfriend ever" era. George got it together some, and even Mer was not a walking shambles. And Cristina's strategy was fun to watch. Good times.

  13. LA Says:

Sloane as The Chief's wingman. Best. Plot. Ever.

  14. Michele Says:

Last Night Was Great!! One of the best shows yet!! Here is what I think: George and Izzie will remain friends, not lovers, Christina will become self involved again and lose Burk, Callie will become pregnant, Derek and Meredith will make it through Derek's selfishness, the Chief will not step down and finally get a girlfriend, Addison and Alex will finally do the nasty, and Mark, well, I like him the way he is. He makes the show fun! But, you know what, Bailey may end up being the new chief! That would be great!! Have I left anyone out??

  15. MJ Says:

Burke and Cristina are stronger than ever. Everything Collin said about not being the same person is true. She's not that person who only wants surgeries to be a part of of life; she wants the man that loves her, too. She's not the selfish, uncaring person she was with Colin; she's a human being now that cares about her friends, and the most important thing in her life-Burke. Collin was a negative force and a bad influence on Crisinta. He played a part in her being selfish and uncaring. He didn't put doubts in her, she was just thinking of that person she use to me.

  16. Lea Says:

MJ, Cristina isn't the same person, but Colin made her doubts her choice and even Shonda recognizes that his words are ominous. So the big wedding will make her realize she is losing herself and she will dump Burke, before or during.

  17. LoveGrey Says:

If it happens, I hope before. It's cheap the runaway bride. But they are clearly doomed. Even if Cristina has grown, her look in the end means that she fears this change and putting her in that ugly dress will be the end.
Derek was a jerk, but after this storm, he will be again by Meredith's side. I am disappointed because George has already chosen Izzie.

  18. MJ Says:

I don't see it as doubting herself, she was thinking about the person she use to be. The person Colin was taking about is gone; she's not that person who feels in order to be the best surgeon, that's the only think she can have in her life, but I understand you feeling that way. As you and I know, its not the first time it apppeared that the relationship would end. With everything they've been through, and all the close encounters of an ending, I've never had any doubts that they would stay together, and I still don't.

  19. Sara Says:

Goodbye Bruekstina!!!! The wedding will be a disaster!!!

  20. Lea Says:

don't get me wrong,MJ, I would like them to get married and be happy. They deserve it, but I got this vibe from the episode and the podcast. If you are right, I am happy. They rock and the actors are fantastic

  21. sam Says:

did anyone see the alex and addison promo.

  22. DixieGirl Says:

I've really been pondering Mer/Der from this epi.

I don't think that when he said "[Meredith] complicates things" - that he meant that in a derogatory way towards Mer. I think he meant that it complicates the way HE looks at his life now. Remember when he said he didn't know where he'd be in 10 years? Before he met Mer, he knew where he was going and what he wanted. It was simple....now there's another person in his life that he cares for more than anything - more than his career.

Someone may have already said it here (or at TwoP) - but Derek never had this kind of relationship with Addie. They were both career-focused / driven; their relationship never touched him to his core the way that Meredith does. (Proof - Addie sleeps with his best friend, he just walks away. Mark merely TALKS to Mer and gets slugged for it....)

I think the Chief is TOTALLY out of line for making a professional decision based on his promise to Ellis and the course his own life has taken. He obviously isn't considering that part of what sucked the life out of his marriage was his affair with Ellis, not just the demands of his position.

We still haven't seen the 'elephant in the room' conversation - Mer & Der talking about their feelings after her NDE, his protectiveness and concern about her (although he doesn't have any problems talking to faux-Mommy about it, which shows he is well aware of what he's doing), her resentment (also well known) of ANYONE trying to protect her. We get these little snippets of REAL conversation but we never get the BIG conversation...which, I guess, is probably more like 'real life'...but c'mon Shonda...we're ready for THE CONVERSATION!

And that's why, even though I HATE seeing Derek alone in his trailer...I think he NEEDS to be there. He is getting smacked in the face with some major 'reality' - He's got to say goodbye to what he thought he wanted his entire career - CoS - which is hard in itself. He's got to internalize the idea that the decision is being made for him - because of Richard's BAD decision to eliminate him from the running because of Mer. And (please, please, please) he's got to remember those things he's said and felt about Mer and start feeling positive about that relationship moving FORWARD, regardless of whether or not he gets CoS.

And hopefully, Richard will realize that he is projecting his own faults onto Derek and reconsider....I mean, who else is there? Addie is running off to LA, Burke has said he's not the same guy that wanted CoS, and Mark? Naaaaaaaahhh

While I hated seeing the them apart, I'm hoping this is a positive more for Mer & Der.

Otherwise --- Sara R is losing weight! Looking good, chica! And I LOVED the nail polish scene with Christina. Hated the lovey dovey in front of the patient, tho!

I'm just trying to keep the faith - that Shonda & co are returning to the GA we love and not turning into "The Grey and Restless"...The 'raised by wolves' was priceless! Dancing at Joes and the "wingman' scenes, also priceless...

  23. Meggie Says:

Well said about the Mer/Der situation, DixieGirl! I agree with you on that!

  24. Kathy Says:

I've been thinking that the wedding will be planned for Burke aned Cristina and there will still be doubt right on up till the time of the wedding....and I think Mer and Der will have worked through the issues they are currently going through (hopefully we'll see these conversations take place) and as the wedding day approaches not only will Cristina still have doubt.....Mer and Der will be drawn even closer together and will realize even more the love they have for each other. As everyone is getting ready for the wedding Mer/Der realize that maybe they should be the ones that should be getting married and the cliff hanger will be....who will really get married Burke and Cristina or Meredith and Derek?? Does anyone else see this happening?

  25. future mrs.karev and/or mrs.shepherd Says:

I'm sorry, George-Izzie lovers, but George needs to stay with his wife. He married Callie, and he shouldn't take that lightly. Neither should Izzie. He and Izzie need to try and repair their friendship and leave it at that, or else Callie is going to be seriously hurt, which isn't good, because she's such a great character.
I'm not so sure that I want Alex and Ava to hook up. He has been really sweet to her, but she acts a little weird toward him sometimes. Although I can't blame her for getting mad that the family she thought was hers doesn't want her anymore.
I am SO SAD that Addison is probably leaving. I hate that ABC is trying to make the success of Grey's into something more by making a spinoff. Spinoffs usually stink, and Grey's will not be NEARLY the same without Addy. She's amazing.
