Isaiah Washington Lands New Movie Role

Isaiah WashingtonIsaiah Washington has landed a new movie role, and a serious one at that.

The Grey's Anatomy star is set to play a priest returning to the Catholic high school where he was once sexually abused in the indie drama entitled The Least of These.

It will be his first film role, TV Guide notes, since a gay slur directed at Grey's Anatomy cast mate T.R. Knight landed Washington in the headlines.

The film's writer-director, Nathan Scoggins, tells the Hollywood Reporter about how he approached Isaiah Washington after reading about how the actor was being professionally snubbed in the wake of the incident.

Scoggins sees this exciting opporunity as "part of [Isaiah] moving forward and making restitution for his actions."

We're looking forward to seeing the fine actor showcasing his considerable talents on the big screen in this weighty role.

Im happy for him that he has this opportunity to do something else. He made a terrible mistake and has taken the steps to get help. I just hope people will let it go so it can be put to rest. People make mistake and need to deal with the consequences but they they don't have to be beat to the ground about it.

What wonderful news. I love Isaiah and have always enjoyed seeing him on the big screen even before GA. I will have to find out more about Nathan Scoggins and make sure to support all of his movies. Thank goodness someone is willing to put the 30 second incident into perspective and give this guy a chance. He is tremendously talented and not deserving of the kind of treatment he has received.

yay for Nathan Scoggins for not following the crowd with blacklisting IW! I personally haven't seen many movies with IW, but I do think he is a very talented actor and Hollywood shouldn't let one "sensitive issue" ruin someone's entire future in the acting business. Congrats to IW for his upcoming MOVIE role!! :-)
