Spin-off Spoiler Watch: Details Emerge

Kate WalshMore spin-off details are filtering out of Grey’s Anatomy headquarters.

Despite producers’ efforts to keep a lid on the potential Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, tentatively titled Private Practice, some more supposed plot spoilers have been exposed by the Los Angeles Times:

After reaching her personal and professional breaking point, Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) heads down to Santa Monica, Calif.

The plan: to seek advice from two of her old medical school friends, Naomi (Merrin Dungey) and Jackson (Taye Diggs).

This is a couple whom she believes have it all: a beautiful teen daughter, a great marriage and a highly successful health cooperative.

Addison quickly learns, though, that Jackson, also a successful TV health guru, has divorced Naomi. During her visit to California, Addison meets the rest of the gang at the cooperative - a widowed alternative medicine practitioner, a self-doubting therapist, and a male gynecologist who knows little about women - and realizes she’s on familiar ground.

Figuring she’s due for a change and she’d fid right in with this driven, yet quirky crew, Addison decides to bolt Seattle Grace and join the Oceanside Wellness Group - if ABC picks up the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, of course.

it sounds interesting, however i still think its not a good idea and even too soon for GA to even consider a spin off at this stage, anyway goodluck kate!!!

I completely agree with hafsa. It is just too soon for a sipin off. I don’t think Kate Walsh was exactly a household name even two years ago. I think she is fantastic on Grey’s put this is still a long shot. I really hope that it works for everyone’s sake, but I also hope it doesn’t take too much away from GA. There are some good people signed up to star with her. i think it has a better shot if it is an ensemble cast and not all on her shoulders as lovely as they are.

WAY TOO SOON to do a spin off… i mean… grey’s is one of the top rated shows on tv but, spin offs RARELY ever do good. No one ever hears or the people again. Personally, i think this will ruin Kates career. I think her fame is at seattle grace and if she leaves, it will ruin her. But, I’m hoping i’m wrong! Maybe she’ll make it!

If Addison leaves Seattle Grace things will not be good. Addison is one of the most loved characters on GA! If she left, people would be upset. GA will NOT be the same without Addison. Although, Kate’s new show could be interesting because it’s about Addison. But most spin-offs don’t do too well. GA won’t be the same without Addison, but Addison will make the spin-off a good show. We’ll have to wait and see where Addison fits in the best.

is it true that if it bombs she can go back to greys? because if thats the case we cant lose, worst case scenario it bombs. greys is back to normal((which is almost what i am hopin for)) best case…two hours of shonda’s insane writing in one week. plussss the reruns. which would be 4! wooot woooot. although, i hope that shonda isnt to busy with this and neglects greys or something bc if that is the case i will find her and slap her. hahahahaaa

no. no, no, no, no, no. I love Addison at SG. Not CALIFORNIA! PLUS.. i mean, hello. it’s callifornia. That’s one thing i like about GA. It’s in seattle. It’s differant. While California is great and all, i prefer Seattle. PLUS Grey’s Anatomy is a MUCH better name than Private Practice.

To me this is all up on the air. If it means another great show then we all win. We didn’t want to see Addison with Derek but we still want her around right? I mean this show could do well cause GA does well, but how much of a good thing can really spill over into another show? ABC and the EXEC’s do not have much to lose here. Grey’s Anatomy will still continue to thrive and maintain their fan base regardless how well this new spin-off does, so we the audience will win there. Even if it doesn’t pick up the fan base and it doesn’t make it, we all know we will see Addison back in Seattle!! ABC might be on to something if you look at the business aspect of it. IF this new show does work, and new people and the Grey’s Anatomers watch then more people might watch Grey’s Anatomy. Look how much crap is on TV right now…..the more Shonda Rhimes TV… the better for me!!

I love Kate, I think it may work. Im excited about it. Greys is going alittle downhill the last few episodes. Im not thrilled with the Izzy George thing. GA either needs to “out with some of the old, in with some new” or give this new spin off a chance. I have a feeling some fans may even like it better than GA if the cast is right and the story is good… isnt anyone else getting a little bored with MERDER??

I read a few more details about the new spin off at

    http://www.defamer.com/hollywood/greys-anatomy/the-greys-anatomy-spin+off-just-as-delightfully-quirky-as-the-original-series-248197.php

“We’re especially excited about the introduction of the clueless male gyno, who’ll meet Addison after she accidentally walks on him in the middle of administering a pelvic exam to a woman he’s asking for love-life advice, a character-establishing encounter that will be punctuated by a wisecracking nurse practitioner who declares with an eye-roll, “For a guy who spends all day staring into vaginas, you sure don’t know anything about the opposite sex, doc!” Later, to the surprise of no one, Addison and the gynecologist will have an impulsive sexual encounter in an unoccupied exam room that complicates her romantic pursuit of Taye Diggs, setting up the first season’s primary romantic storyline. “

Well Dr. Addison has been my all-time favorite character in GA. She is really good so I believe she’ll fit perfectly anywhere. I think her character is suffering because of the situation that’s leaving became an option….gudluk Kate!

Horrible the worst show I ever saw

I loved the special 2 hour long episode of Grey’s! It was great, not stealing everything from GA, not too completely insanely different. It was funny with great chemistry between Kate Walsh and Tim Daly, great music as usual, and we finally got to see a freer side of Addison.

I think people are jumping to conclusions. It was ONE EPISODE. The FIRST one. Chill out and give it a chance.

I have to admit that although I still love “Grey’s Anatomy”, I also thoroughly enjoyed the spin-off concept so far. From what I’ve seen so far, it’s got a bit more of that thirty-something sort of flare to it.

As “Grey’s” continues to tackle more and more of the new marriage issues and hospital intern challenges with all of its usual “mc”juicy twists and turns, it’s also nice to see an opportunity for a spin-off that provides us with something for the over 20’sand 30’s crowd as well.

While the “Grey’s” ensemble keeps us on our toes with wedding planning, proposals, and new relationships, as well as the experiences of surgical interns, I think it’d be great to have something like “Private Practice” to offer more of what it’s already put out there on the table for us so far…storylines dealing with divorce, getting back into the dating game, the life choices that someone like Addison’s character face when they’ve dedicated so much time and effort to their profession and their pursuits in life and are faced with the knowledge that they want more.

I for one hope to see it get more than a fair chance. I think it’s an awesome idea. Best of luck!

After watching the 2 hour event on Thursday and having seen GA from the very start. I think that this spin off with Kate Walsh will be really good. I actually think that I would rather enjoy watching it then GA. Although I love the show! I think that they have made everyone start to look rather trashy on the show. If that’s really the way that surgeons act, then I think I would rather have a nurse perform my surgery, if I ever had to have one. Anyways, looks like the same type of drama, but a little more mature. GA seems like I’m reliving high school sometimes and that gets really old.
