Friday: “Band Aid Covers the Bullet Hole”

Tonight, another old episode of Grey’s Anatomy will be aired by ABC at 8:00 EDT, this time from the Season 2 archives.

Band Aid Covers the Bullet Hole” originally aired March 12, 2006. It begins with George desperate to remake himself after a botched sexual experience (sounds all too familiar at this point). Addison and Derek struggle with the reconciliation of their marriage, while Cristina and Miranda spar over the latter’s maternal instincts - and the former’s lack thereof.

Alex & Izzie

Also, Isobel “Izzie” Stevens finds herself pursued by Alex (above), but falling even harder for a mysterious, yet handsome and wonderful patient named Denny Duquette (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).

Spin-off Spoiler Watch: Details Emerge

Kate WalshMore spin-off details are filtering out of Grey’s Anatomy headquarters.

Despite producers’ efforts to keep a lid on the potential Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, tentatively titled Private Practice, some more supposed plot spoilers have been exposed by the Los Angeles Times:

After reaching her personal and professional breaking point, Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) heads down to Santa Monica, Calif.

The plan: to seek advice from two of her old medical school friends, Naomi (Merrin Dungey) and Jackson (Taye Diggs).

This is a couple whom she believes have it all: a beautiful teen daughter, a great marriage and a highly successful health cooperative.

Addison quickly learns, though, that Jackson, also a successful TV health guru, has divorced Naomi. During her visit to California, Addison meets the rest of the gang at the cooperative - a widowed alternative medicine practitioner, a self-doubting therapist, and a male gynecologist who knows little about women - and realizes she’s on familiar ground.

Figuring she’s due for a change and she’d fid right in with this driven, yet quirky crew, Addison decides to bolt Seattle Grace and join the Oceanside Wellness Group - if ABC picks up the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off, of course.

Grey’s Anatomy Spin-Off Reportedly Gets a Tentative Title: Private Practice

The heavily anticipated Kate Walsh-led Grey’s Anatomy spin off finally has a name. A tentative one, at least: Private Practice.

Addison MontgomeryAccording to Buddy TV, ABC unveiled the moniker for the new show at a star studded media buyers event during network development week.

ABC executives lauded the spin off’s spectacular cast that in addition to Walsh, includes Taye Diggs, Tim Daly, Amy Brenneman, Chris Lowell, and numerous others.

The Grey’s Anatomy spin-off is being touted for its stand alone premise that will take Kate Walsh’s character out of the realm of nightmare medical emergencies and incorporated hospital trysts into a setting they think less hard core medical drama fans will appreciate.

In that sense, the proposed name for Grey’s Anatomy 2.0 is quite apt.

ABC execs are quick to caution that the name of Private Practice may change, however. The two-hour episode set to sample the themes of the series will debut May 10, but don’t think of it as a pilot. Grey’s Anatomy is riding a high enough wave at this point that the second series is virtually a lock, whether the initial sample piques interests or not.

Tonight: “From a Whisper to a Scream”

Tonight, Grey’s Anatomy will be a repeat, giving us another chance to see one of the most intense, dramatic episodes of Season 3.

From a Whisper to a Scream” originally aired Thanksgiving night. It begins with as a traumatic car accident packs the ER with patients. Izzie pushes the limits of her probation once again, while Cristina and Preston find themselves at a crossroads regarding their tenuous teamwork.

Burke and Yang

Literally, the mood begins at a whisper, tension rises throughout the hour, then erupts into scream - many, actually - as Burke’s condition and the lives at stake become too much for Cristina’s conscience to bear.

For Burktina fans, it’s painful to watch. Yet it’s also one of the finest episodes in recent memory in terms of showing the tremendous depth of the Grey’s Anatomy characters and talent of the actors who play them.

Grey’s Anatomy: The Blooper Reel

Check out this hilarious collection of outtakes and bloopers from Grey’s Anatomy, featuring great footage of our beloved cast and crew:

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Comes Back… Again!

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is staying almost as busy in death as he was in life in the Grey’s Anatomy universe. The actor is returning on April 12 to headline the show’s latest recap special.

During a telephone chat last week, Morgan explained to TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello that this won’t be your standard clip show. He also says Grey’s didn’t jump the shark when Meredith went to heaven, and sets the record straight about the status of his rumored-to-be-dead Shonda Rhimes show…

Denny Duquette Returns! Again!TV Guide: How will this clip show be different?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan: They’re going to use me as an on-camera host. They’ve never done anything like that before. Usually it’s all voice-over. That’ll be interesting. I haven’t seen a script yet, so I’m kind of on pins and needles myself.

TV Guide: Rumor has it the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off killed your forthcoming war-correspondents drama. True?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan: I got a phone call from [Shonda Rhimes] the day before the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off (starring Kate Walsh) was announced, telling me it does not affect my show whatsoever. As far as I know, we’re going into production this summer for a mid-season replacement next year. The idea would be to do six or 13 episodes. I know everybody’s saying it’s on the back burner or dying a slow, painful death, but I don’t think that’s the case. Until I hear differently, we’re moving forward with it. I haven’t heard differently, and believe me, I’ve checked. I make sure that no one’s forgetting about me over here.

TV Guide: Looking back, how do you think Denny’s February-sweeps return turned out?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan: Shonda called me and said, “Would you be willing to come back?” And I, of course, said, “Yeah,” hung up the phone and “How?” became an immediate question. And I don’t think even she knew exactly how that was going to play itself out. I got the script about a week before I went out there to shoot it, and even then I was like, “Is this going to work?” It’s kind of a big jump from what they normally do, but I thought it was pulled off beautifully. I was really excited to do Denny again. I thought we put him to bed last year, so any chance I get to play him I’m a happy guy.

Grey’s Anatomy Caption Contest XLVIII

Our weekly Caption Contest always makes for an entertaining feature, especially after exciting and thought-provoking episodes. This image, taken from Thursday’s “My Favorite Mistake,” was no exception.

As with each of our Grey’s Anatomy photo and caption selections, it was hard for our editorial staff to choose a winner. Kim, Meggie and mt all came close. In the end, though, we had to go with AnnetteC. Congrats! The winning caption appears beneath the image.

Look For Justin Chambers in TV Guide

Yeah, yeah. McDreamy, McSteamy. Ho hum.

No offense to the aforementioned characters or actors. But it’s nice to see that TV Guide happily objectifies Grey’s Anatomy’s other hunky star, Justin Chambers (Alex Karev) in its latest “Sexy Issue.”

Justin & Kate

In real life, the 36-year-old Chambers (pictured with Grey’s Anatomy co-star Kate Walsh) is a kind, dedicated husband to wife Keisha and a father of five children: Isabella, Maya, Kaila, Eva and Jackson.

But none of that makes the somewhat arrogant, sometimes sensitive, always mysterious Alex Karev any less of a sexy marvel.

“When we were over in Italy doing press, women went crazy for him,” Kate Walsh told TV Guide. “He was like a Beatle. They just screamed and cried.”

Who can blame them? We’ll have more on Justin’s appearance in TV Guide soon. Interesting that in real life, he, Eric Dane and Patrick Dempsey are all happily married and not at all like their characters.

Thursday’s Episode: “My Favorite Mistake”

Fantastic news: We won’t have to wait until March 29 to see how the whole George-Izzie hook-up debacle and everything else from “Scars and Souvenirs” plays out.

T.R. Knight & Katherine HeiglGrey’s Anatomy returns with a new episode this Thursday, “My Favorite Mistake,” instead of the originally-scheduled repeat.

Why the change? Apparently, ABC was encouraged by the opening-week numbers of October Road following Grey’s Anatomy last Thursday, and didn’t want to lose any of that momentum going into its second episode.

With the possible exception of American Idol, there’s certainly no greater momentum source on TV right now than an original episode of Grey’s Anatomy.

Whether one can actually stomach October Road is another story.

But hey, if it means an all-new Grey’s Anatomy instead of a rerun, we’re all for it, right? Sure. Just go with it.

In “My Favorite Mistake,” Callie’s father (Hector Elizondo) visits Seattle Grace and meets George, who’s in no shape for an introduction. Meanwhile, the candidates for the Chief’s position are interviewed, including Colin Marlow (Roger Rees). Alex continues to help Jane Doe (Elizabeth Reaser) find her place in the world, and George and Izzie… well…

Check out this brief preview:

As usual, we’ll have our episode recap, music guide, list of quotes and image gallery from Thursday night up after the show. Can’t wait!

Grey’s Spoiler Watch: Why Addison Bolts

Another spoiler has come to light regarding how the possible Grey’s Anatomy spin-off begins, and it comes from a fairly reliable source.

Kate Walsh and Eric DaneNot that this would be difficult to predict, but according to TV Guide spy Michael Ausiello, Addison comes to the conclusion that McSteamy a looooong way away from being ready to start a family and decides to hightail it out of Seattle Grace.

Dejected, she goes to Los Angeles to meet with one of the world’s foremost fertility experts.

This specialist also happens to be one of her oldest friends (one of many recently announced guest stars) and the owner of a brand new wellness center - which happens to be in the market for a neonatal surgeon.

The rest - if the ratings come through - will be history and a full season of the Kate Walsh-led series will commence in the fall.

As far as regular Grey’s Anatomy goes, Kristin Veitch of E! Online reports that - are you ready for this - George and Izzie actually fall in love. Gulp.
