Tensions Rising On Grey's Anatomy Set?
Is there trouble on the set of Grey's Anatomy?
Maybe. Take this gossip with a grain of salt, since it comes through MSNBC via Star Magazine. But rumor has it that the spinoff of the series that will feature actress Dr. Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) has left other cast members feeling blindsided and short-changed.
"The rest of the cast seemed instantly resentful of [Walsh]," a source told Star. "They each thought they'd be the one chosen to get their own show, and now they're giving Kate the cold shoulder."
The source adds that Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo "seemed particularly peeved because she felt that, as the star, she should have been consulted."
The spinoff news comes just as the controversy regarding fellow cast member Isaiah Washington's inappropriate remarks began to subside.
"Things had finally settled down and now everyone's disgruntled again," the source says.
We don't know how true any of this is. But what we do know, as we reported yesterday, is that a two-hour episode of Grey's Anatomy slated for this spring is what opens the door for Addison's departure.

I'm not surprised that Ellen Pompeo was pissed. She is a spiteful, hateful person in real life. Has everyone seen the PUNKD episode of her..WOW..Like i said before..this whole thing is a diseaster..Shonda is screwing up a good thing.

I'm not surprised that there would be jealousy especially since she hasn't been on the show as long as some of the others. I think Ellen Pompeo is overstepping herself she may be billed as the main character but she's no more important than Dempsey or Sandra Oh.
February 28th, 2007 1:22 PM
Star Magazine? Fake news. Ellen is the star of GA, the best TV show. Addison's Anamomy will be a flop like Katekat.
February 28th, 2007 1:36 PM
There's a chance this might be fake, and I want to believe that... but if it's not all of them should put their damn egos aside. still how can they be jealous over a snipoff, how can they be so blind to see that grey's anatomy will always be better than a snipoff of the show... they're better off without having their own show.
February 28th, 2007 1:42 PM
It's fake. Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey and Sandra Oh are the most important characters of GA and They aren't jealous.
Ellen Pompeo on PUNK D was great. My friend met Walsh and she's a moron.

It makes perfect sense for Kate to star in the spin off because she is from New York and she has enough fan base that she could really get the audience interested in the show. Can't we all just like the show and can't the cast let go of their egos enough to be thankful and blessed for everything they have accomplished with the success of this very show. Thanks should go to Shonda...not being angry and giving her the cold shoulder!
February 28th, 2007 1:56 PM
Mariafe, I agree with you. This story sounds like a bunch of b.s! If anything the cast is not jealous and I find it kind of funny how all these "sources" seem to have it out for Ellen.
If anything, as much as I love addison/kate, the spinoff doesn't sound like a good idea. But I see why Shonda is doing. Addison has a fan base(like it or not susy she does) but she doesn't really have any good storylines at the moment.(besides the whole alex thing) I mean when she started out she was Derek's wife, then she got a divorce from him and then she befriended the emeny(mer). Now she's just sort of...there. Her time isn't up it just seems like it's up now. Unless the writers try harder and come up with something new for her.

This sounds so much like "garbage press" I would not pay any attention to this they just do that to manipulate us. Don't buy these magazine and ignore the gossip just enjoy a good show. Success creates envy and jealousy but you know that already.
February 28th, 2007 3:06 PM
It's fake. Ellen Pompeo wouldn't be worried, shes the star of GA. I can see why others would be a little annoyed though, since Kate came in S1 ending/S2 beginning, and the rest were there from the start (cept Callie)
Addison would be a great star in her own show, but as someone already said, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
February 28th, 2007 3:06 PM
Ellen already has her one show, why would she want another one?
February 28th, 2007 4:00 PM
Damn it...you know what sucks about this? This is the third situation posted here ( alleged as this one might be,) where it seems that the popularity of Grey's is becoming unmanagable. I don't remember the last time I was a loyal fan of anything in the entertainment world. The writing is phenomenal, and the actors are a perfect fit for thier current roles. I am not against people growing and moving on. They have a right to experience the oppurtunities that are opened up by thier fame. They deserve support from one another as well as thier fan base. Too bad human beings are notoriously fickle. Oh well, nothing lasts forever. Thank God for tv on dvd! HA

I expect that reaction is being exaggerated to sell papers....but, SERIOUSLY....look at the forums and the websites...
There are a lot of fans that aren't really happy about the idea of a spinoff, why should the GA actors / actresses be any different?
I know that when something happens to affect my work, especially something as significant as a personnel change, I'm pretty interested, opinionated, and sometimes pissed off...
I'm sure the good folks at GA will handle this professionally and will continue to do the good quality work we all love and appreciate....I'm not going to worry too much about what the Star comes up with....

I agree with many of you that this is most likely a bullshit story. I don't understand because I really like Ellen Pompeo and I think the press has always had it out for her for some reason. I truly doubt she'd be that upset about Kate leaving considering that would just give her more attention because there would be one less female to be competing against. And as far as Ellen on PUNK'D, I loved her! I would've been just as upset about the whole situation. In a recent interview I read with her, the directors of the show cut out an entire scene where she realizes that she's being punked and says something to her boyfriend. I think that she dealt with the situation just like anyone else would've! Seriously!
I've said from the beginning and I'll say it again, I really hope that the Kate Walsh spin-off doesn't go well. I'd like to see her at SGH with the rest of the amazingly talented cast! But if anyone were to go to another show, I guess she's the best choice. The other characters much more vital to the show then her character.

It's a tabloid people they don't know how to tell the truth. And unless you know Ellen personally what is the bases for your opinion one lousy show and magizines that don't know what is real because money is the bottom line not the truth.
March 1st, 2007 4:41 PM
well if its any consolation to the rest of the cast, no one really wants Addison/Kate to have her own show!! haha I personally hope she stays on Greys but......I can't control it soo......but they should know that the fans aren't particularly happy either! well, i'm not and from other comments when the spin off was announced others aren't as well!! oh well.

Ok, Ellen is not jealous, come on people, does she really need 2 shows? No, I'm sure she's happy for Kate and her new show. It may not be a hit, but I'll check it out just for the hell of it. Hey you never know, it might be good. But if Shonda is writing it, there's gotta be some good in it because she's an amazing writer.

I am really beginning to resent that every single thing written about the GA set has to somehow remind readers of the Isaiah incident. Did the writer of this garbage really have to bring it up, yet again? In my opinion, none of the original nine actors on GA should ever consider a spin off and I doubt very much that they would resent having Kate Walsh the star of one. First of all they rarely pan out and are usually giant flops no matter how well liked the character is. Think "Joey". The only ones that would make any sense at all to leave and begin their own show are Addison or Mark or Callie. Now Callie is married to George, it is very doubtful that she will go anywhere. Mark could leave with Addison. I like the character of Addison a lot and really like Kate Walsh as an actress. I can't believe that she became likeable considering the part she played and how she was introducted to the fans of GA. But, she did become likeable and I attribute that to her great comic timing and her over all acting ability. Still, I don't know that she will be able to hold her own as the lead in her own show. GA depends on the ensemble cast to keep the stories rich and exciting. They would have to build an ensemble cast around Kate, I think. Taye Diggs should help. He has name and face recognition that will bring in quite a number of viewers. It will be interesting to see how it all pans out. Regardless, I think the stars of GA are happy to be on GA, with the possible exception of Katherine Heigl who may be better at self promotion than promoting GA. I wonder how the writing on GA will be impacted by Shonda dividing her time between two television series.

Ellen's got a huge ego behind the scenes, and it would be naive to believe she's not angry about Kate's spinoff show. If you saw Punk'd, you saw the real Ellen.
March 4th, 2007 5:28 PM
what did they do to ellen on punkd?
March 5th, 2007 7:22 AM
Ellen was at a restaurant with her boyfriend (now finace) chris ivery, when the waitress was flirting with her bf. She got pretty pissed. But, i don't think there's anything wrong!
March 5th, 2007 2:02 PM
Kate is HOT! I'd like to see her take the leading role. What a mix up that would be! A first in TV to have someone take over the Lead Role of a named show. ex. Jay Leno isn't doing the Johnny Carson Show. Dr. Addison is fisty. I love them Redheads!
March 8th, 2007 11:42 AM
What is up with wanting to tear down a popular show? Seriously!
Good luck to Kate! She's taken a character that was instantly hateable to loveable. That's a great acting job.
March 13th, 2007 11:32 AM
Ellen Pompeo does indeed have an overly inflated ego. She is not a kind person. She has said so many insulting things about Patrick Dempsey. Don't any of you "fans" ever read her interviews? I'm not talking about opinion. I'm talking about direct quotes from Ellen herself. No one has it in for her. She is just a cruel person, and she looks down on others. She paints an unattractive picture of herself. No one has to make anything up to make her look bad. She was asked how she feels about the love scenes with PD, and SHE said it's awkward, he's like her brother, and she just wants the kissing scenes to be over with as soon as possible. She threatened to stab a waitress with a fork just for calling her boyfriend honey, and she snapped at a crew member for no reason whatsoever. Why are people trying to defend her negative behavior? Just because you like the character she portrays, it doesn't mean she couldn't possibly be a horrible person. That's why they call it acting. Please, get over it. She's an evil person. Mean as a snake. And not so cute, either. That's right- I typed it!

Kate/Addison is great! I'm gonna miss her on GA, I think she had such good chemistry with all the other actors and her role really added sth to the show. However, I'm happy for her and her new show. Haha, that's right Ellen Kate got her own spin off - not you, 'cos noone would be interested in following dorky Merediths life (or seeing that much of the dull EP) if she hadn't gotten the support from all of the other great actors. As for the real EP - have you ever seen a more boring person? And I agree with you Libby - "she ain't that cute". KW on the other hand cracks me up every time I see her in an interview, she funny, charming, loveable and gorgeous! Plus an amazing actress - KW rules! Good luck on the new show!
