AAAAAhhhhhhhh!!!!!! (about 10 seconds ago, I was nibbling on some fruit flippin loops contemplating the whole Addison ordeal and reading comments when AAAHHH. SPOILERS! AAAHHH! Must back away from spoilers!) Though thoughtfully kind WoopWoop to prove your point in one of the most proving ways possible, spoilers...well..spoil things.

Anyways. I know that I've previously commented on Burke's portrayal of character this past week for "Drowning on Dry Land", but I'd like to see who thinks that he was written somewhat out of character. You may answer or you may not, but I'm rather curious as to see who catches what I see.

  2. WoopWoop Says:

SHE IS NOT DEAD. Spoilers: At least one of these things will happen before the end of the season: After breaking things off with Cristina, Burke will transfer to another hospital. Callie will reveal she's pregnant. Izzie and George will hook up. Izzie will be reunited with her daughter, and it's someone we've already seen on the show. Addison will be diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. Derek and Meredith's relationship will hit a roadblock when one of her exes shows up on her doorstep with one thing on his mind.

Shes alive, read the last one.

  3. Elizabeth Says:

    I meant Meredith

  4. Elizabeth Says:

She can't die. It's GREY"S Anatomy. making her dead would upset everyne and noone will want to watch. plus if she dies and they still have her do the monologues then that is copying desperate houswives

  5. TexasGreysFan Says:

I still think the second death will be Ellis.

I agree with your take on the spinoff, Shell. They will leave an avenue for Walsh to return if the spinoff isn't picked up.

  6. Shell Says:

Kate Walsh to star in a spin-off of Grey's Anatomy still doesn't answer who the second death will be. Unless ofcourse, it is Addison and she starts up a Family Practice clinic in Heaven and Denny & Dylan are her first patients.

And that would be......well, silly, right?

I'm disappointed that there's going to be a spin-off. I think GA will lose something if they start to pick apart the cast.

  7. TexasGreysFan Says:

Sorry, I don't think Burke is going anywhere - I think Shonda's pulling our chain again! Especially, in view of Kate Walsh leaving to do a Grey's spinoff

  8. Shell Says:

BB - I may be allowing my imagination to run wilder than usual, but if ABC did lean heavily on Shonda to fire IW, I think she would've fought to have Burke leave Seattle Grace in a bold and memorable way. And I think that many, many confidential documents were drawn up for everyone involved to sign that stipulates absolute silence.

I know your love for Burke and I do hope I'm wrong, but I have this panicked feeling that Dr. Preston Burke will no longer "grace" us or the hospital with his presence. It would be a huge loss for everyone, but it could potentially clear the way for a whole lot more character development.

I've stated before that Meredith's death would be a majorly bold move of the creator, but I guess it's just TOO unimaginable for me to really get on board with. Though, I do think that her near death and eventually revival will have enormous ramifications for just about everyone involved.

I just can't be convinced that Ellis' death would have the impact that Shonda promises to deliver.

The wait for Thursday is endless.

    hi folks!
i nearly fell apart when i saw the last episode... who would ever expect that? But then i remembered that in the episode before that McDreamy got her out of the bath tub! She claimed she didn't mean it... Have you thought about the possibility of her killing herself? That was the first thing that came to my mind when I watched because she did not even try to swim and let herself drown....
Second thing is that i cannot imagine that they let her come to life again. If they would do that, they would make a fool of themselves. 20 min without sinus, low temperature and her skin color... If they would get her heart beating again she would be a vegetable- no brain left. coma vigil would be plausible but that's it. I am into medicine and i liked (and of course like) GA but if she will wake up again- that will be embarrassing and it will lose a lot for me.
I would say abc had balls to do that.

Weather Mer lives or dies we have a lot to contend with...which is just how it should be. In life or death Meredith is complicated and the way she makes us feel ...is complicated. If Meredith lives...will she be "bright and shiny?" Will she be the typical "I have faced death and lived to tell" person? Would she know how to respond to rising from the dead?...or would this only make her more "dark", more "twisty"? How much more can MerDer play out with Derek totally being her "knight in shining whatever," and Meredith not feeling like she can handle it...but so wanting it at the same time? The show itself is so beautifully complex...which is on a deeper level why I think we feel Meredith IS the show. Her death would rearange everything...her inner complexity would simply explode and we along with the other characters would be left...drowning...in her wake. Either way I am excited...or is that me just being a little "dark and twisty" myself?

  11. recentlyseriousfan Says:

okay-okay...so first of all I don't mind giving myself over to the writing of the story and saying no matter where it goes I will follow...I think they are doing an incredible job-obviously they are effective to insight so much emotions/reaction from us! So, no matter who they kill/keep/bring on we will be watching...enough of us will be watching to keep the show going haha! They've got us hooked, let's just admit it!
Izzie is great-I am not surprised that she brought up the O'Callie issue-she has proven in the past to be hugely inspired to be super spontaneous in the face of death/loss. However, for her to say what she thought may be fitting-ish...but the way she went on kind of ...well I guess it did what the writers wanted it to do...it caused a big reaction. I would say something to Izzie about how she had plenty of oppurtunity to say what she thought instead of being a child and trying to use her sarcasm and plain meanness to bully O'Callie. However, this group of friends has overcome more than meanness together and I think they will work it out. It reminds me of the type of friendship emulated by the Sienfeld cast...it is shocking how horrible they could be to eachother and still remain friends...they somehow just keep gravitating toward oneanother...it's like they know they need eachother...and we keep watching...it's like we need them...

  12. TexasGreysFan Says:

Also, I had heard there were only 22 episodes for season 3 - so, we only have 5 new ones left! Probably 2 new in April and 3 in May.....

BB - Don't worry about Burke & Christina - I still think they will get married - maybe when Meredith is back up to speed she will be helpful in explaining Christina to Burke......I have not doubt IW will remain on this show - he is just absolutely awesome - I loved his scene with Derek last week - I really hope he and Derek become good friends -....Dr. Burke just has so much compassion and is such a great person.....he and Christina need to sit down and 'talk" and find some way to communicate with each other that they both understand!! And, yes, I agree - could we please just have a kiss now and then, hello? C'mon - these two are supposed to be in love and are engaged for heavens sake. Even Derek and Meredith kiss every episode - or how about an "I love you".......geez

  13. TexasGreysFan Says:

Hey all - Back in December, I emailed the ABC Medianet contact and here's what she said about season 3. I asked about how they would stretch the new episodes to May. I assume when she says "break" for March we may not have any new ones.

"They will stretch until May â€" expect a couple new ones in January, all new in February, a break in March, a couple in April and all new in May.

  14. Shell Says:

Don't most shows go on hiatus during March so they aren't having to compete with the NCAA tournament? Typically, March Madness starts on a Thursday and I have to admit that I'd TiVo Grey's and watch the games live. The loss of ratings would be significant enough to make a hiatus prudent.

  15. katrin Says:

I like, I love Izzie. And what she said to George about Callie, that`s who she is. As she said she gets emotionally involved. She is emotional, she says what she thinks and how she feels. She`s sincere. It`s a good quality to have in a person and in a friend. And even though it might haven`t be the best time to say what she said, but when you are on a emotional rollercoster, you can´t control yourself.
Besides... everyone who hates Izzie and dislikes what she said, whatch it again, look at George`s face. There`s confusion in it, there`s shock and there`s also fear, fear that her best friend might be right.

  16. Burke Backer Says:

Well, I checked every where I know where to check and this is what I found out. ABC shows Men in Trees, Ugly Betty, and Boston Legal are all airing reruns the first two weeks of March just like Greys. Greys will rerun a different episode Thursday and Friday of the first two weeks of March, so four reruns in a row over two weeks. They are the episodes that include the camping trip and the episodes just after it. I don't know if we will have a new episode the third week of March or not. So it doesn't look like it is unusual to have a hiatus in March, but still I don't know how many episodes for the remainder of season three have already been shot and how many episodes are still being shot. I do know Isaiah has planned a trip to Sierre Leone in April. It was planned months and months ago at a time when he would clearly have been expected to be on the show, so all of the episodes for season three will probably have been shot by then. I don't really know what any of this means, but thought I would share it. If we just finished episode 3.16 and this week is 3.17 and the last new episode is aired the first week of May as Dixie Girl said in her post, that would make no new episodes until March 29th. There would be four weeks of reruns. That really sucks. I hope they don't leave us with a cliff hanger to worry about for the whole month of March.

  17. MCDREAMYLOVER Says:

If Meredith dies, who will narrate the show, and then it will have to be named something else. There are so many problems SHE CANT DIE!!! Not to mention her and McDreamy are my favorite part of the show, :(** She'll live! she has to

  18. McYummyMyTummy Says:

Wow. Burke Backer, I had quite the thought that my comments were exceeding the length that the normal Grey's fan would read, but I am a changed person now and longer I shall write! Definitely agree with the issues Isaiah Washington has been involved with. I am also very much in agreement about Burke and Cristina.

  19. Burke Backer Says:

I agree with those who say that Meredith won't die. It would be ridiculous for this show to kill of the title character. Particularly now that she and Derek have been through so much to finally be together. I do think though that she has to deal with her issues with her parents. She may have thought if she and Derek could be together that it would make everything else all right, that she would stop feeling lost. Then when they are together, the reality is her mother still has the power to crush her and Derek, as much as she loves him, doesn't solve all of her issues. That can be pretty depressing. I think she will survive and realize she wants to survive, but will still have to work through her childhood issues.

In terms of Burke and Cristina, I could be wrong, but I think that if they intended to fire Isaiah they would have already done it and it would not be a big secret. Isaiah has said repeatedly that he loves being on the show and likes and respects the people that he works with. All involved have said that everyone gets alone remarkably well most of the time for the amount of time they spend together. He has jumped through all of the hoops that they asked him to jump through. I don't think if they broke his contract he would be quiet about it. I think there would be a lawsuit and it would certainly be in the news. So it is really doubtful to me that he is being written off the show this abruptly, although we haven't seen any statement from ABC Touchstone that he is staying either, so who really knows. I think the ratings will have a lot to do with their decision and so far the ratings have been better than ever. So I am hoping that we don't lose this great character because of the off screen stuff. I am really, really hoping that.

I am worried about Burke's engagement to Cristina, though. All of the Bang fans were so thrilled with the engagement and Cristina's acceptance. We all danced and celebrated when they did. We were so looking forward to the wedding and how it would all play out. Now I don't know. I can't imagine either of them with anyone else and we didn't expect the entire engagement would run smoothly because if there is a wedding I don't think it will be until the season finale. But, now, I don't know. I'm so tired of no loving dialogue between them. We haven't even seen them kiss since season two other than in a flashback. Even if he is on the show if they aren't going to develop his character and the relationship between Burke and Cristina it will be very sad. I'm really tired of the bickering.

I agree that having two "persons" when you are not use to having any will be a major challenge for Cristina, but she will work it out and have room in her life for both. I am nervous but hopeful for Burke and Cristina, but I have no doubt about Meredith. She will survive.

The March hiatus seems to be something that was planned quite some time ago, not something new due to the need for rewrites and reshoots. I read somewhere that it was only a week or two. I'll see what I can find online about the break.

  20. McYummyMyTummy Says:

    McDreamyMmMmM,
Since you're counting down insanely large amount of numbers for seconds for the mere fact that Grey's will be on is almost for certain that we are twins!

  21. DixieGirl Says:

I think there are 23 episodes total and the last airs around the first of May? So there is going to be a break for most of March, I think....there's a web site that lists show schedules several weeks in advance (but I don't remember what it is now...)
I was heartened to see that this week's episode is not the season finale, as some folks had thought! I'm not ready to give up Season 3 yet!!!!

(Although that does mean the DVD would be coming out soon, and I could delete all the shows off my TiVO!)

  22. McDreamyMmMmM Says:

Ok McYummyMyTummy you are like my twin! I share all the same viewpoints with you about grey's anatomy!

    I also have to say:::

    2 days
    49 hours
    2949 minutes
    176941 seconds

  23. McYummyMyTummy Says:

I have not heard of another six week lapse until now, though unwanted and would be torturous, it is possible after the ridiculous and uncalledfor action of Isaiah Washington. Some site reported that as of just one or two days ago, this week's "some kind of miracle" is still in post-production.

  24. GA-Mer/Der4Ever&Ever Says:

Meredith is not going to die. She has to much to live for. Mainly Derekl this talk of her going to the light is about to make me throw-up. I like all the other characters but Derek and Meredith are the main reason I tune in every week. Hopefully they have a special moment at the end like they did after the bomb went off. There is also rumor of another six week lasp has anyone else heard this rumor?

  25. McYummyMyTummy Says:

Hmmm.....Danielle has sparked a topic I have yet to cover. So fortunate to those who, like me, are addicted to being enlightened to the opinions of those in love with Grey's. So unfortunate by those who are tortured by my quite frequent, lengthy comments.

George and Callie. Next to Izzie, I find George a very intriguing character in his actions and his growth since season one. This has caused me to become quite attached to our grief-ridden, made fun of, mistaken George. It's only natural that I would want the best for George. Before I had completed watching the second season last year, I believed that Mer was the best for him, but OBVIOUSLY that didn't work, but let's save that for a completely different time. Callie. A character I've never become fond of. Some may agree some may not. I don't know, maybe it's the largely disturbing cracking noices that the sound producers of Grey's add into the scene, or maybe it's the fact that she has no confidence in herself or that she relies on George for too much of what she can't do. If she only knew George's past, she'd know his breaking point.

However, unlike much before, my feeling upon this subject aren't very strong except that I know George deserves more.
