patrick and kate look good together.

  2. luvthisshow Says:

yes you're exactly right Carol -- KH's original comments were very "high school", totally unnecessary, and frankly embarrassing for her. i'm surprised they haven't put a muzzle on her yet; "they" meaning the network/producers, etc.

  3. McNasty Social Worker Says:

Congratulations to the cast and writers of Grey's Anatomy! Another congratulations goes out to Chandra Wilson. One for winning her award and two for her awesome speech during the show and for her interviews after the show. She is truly an inspiration and a phenomenal woman. Once again, I must comment on Katherine Heigl for opening her big mouth when the rest of the cast is trying to let the hype calm down. She is behaving very childish and I really hope that people start to see this. And I agree with TexasGreysFan that Katherine should take her own advice and just not speak in public!!! Oh yeah and I hope people see that she is only doing this immature stuff to try and get noticed because now that Denny is not on the show anymore...she really does not have the public's attention anymore. Guess what Katherine...if you were more of a team player...maybe you would get some recognition!

  4. Carol Says:

KH just didn't think about what she was saying at the GG awards show...I doubt it has anything to do with her lack of a storyline now that Jeffery Dean Morgan is no longer on GA. KH was just defending TR Knight, but she could have left well enough alone and let TR take care of himself. I don't think much of TR Knight either, going on Ellen D's show as he did. Everything should have been kept within their little group.

  5. Randy Says:

I think people should lay off Katherine. The other night, if you watched, she clearly tried not to be drawn into a discussion about Isaiah despite the reporters' repeated efforts to get a good sound bite out of her. Her vague answers are really all you can expect.

As for her sticking up for T.R. in the first place, or for T.R. giving an interview on Ellen, I refuse to see how either did anything wrong. He's the victim in all of this and she's sticking up for her friend.

I'm sorry, but what Isaiah did was awful. I do not think he should be fired and I think he is genuinely sorry it happened and doing all he can to put it behind him. And I wish everyone would let the whole issue go. But to point the finger at T.R. or Katherine seems patently unfair.

  6. purplemerder Says:

Thank you Randy I am totally with you...Katherine was not the only who spoke all the actors were asked about the subject and I think they all handled it well.

  7. purplemerder Says:

Oh and I am so glad that Chandra won...she was up against some amazing actress......she is a great person and phenominal actress.

  8. FanFromCanada Says:

The cast was fabulous. I give kudos to TR, he was very respectful...when asked questions about IW...he said...I'm here.

Katherine Heigl needs a muzzle - she is fueling speculations. All the other cast members were noncommittal, no specifics. KH, for someone, who in her own words "is not privy to any information from the higher ups..." ...should "just not speak in public"...here is what she should have said...I have no detail and no comments.

We all have been inundated with the cause and effect. The powers that be themselves have been pretty mum about details and press releases...yet KH has made it on the red carpet and elsewhere and she is the only soundbite everyone is quoting on a regular basis, like she is the expert of the matter.

Please KH "SHHHHHH"...don't feed the media machine!

Your cast and company need to heal...and the public do not want anymore news...about IW woes or Grey's Anatomy in the headlines. We only want to see spoilers for the next episode...I want to enjoy Grey's and the UBER TALENTED CAST!

  9. Burke Backer Says:

Not surprisingly, I am firmly in the camp of those who believe that KH says too much too often. She needs to let both of the injured parties heal their differences. The comments about we don't know when he'll be back or for how long were unnecessary. She very purposefully gave an answer that makes the situation seem less hopeful than the Isaiah fans, and there are many, hope that it is. I do not believe Isaiah is a homophobe for this incident. We've been through this a thousand times. One slip of the tongue and responding to the baiting of a dogged reporter does not make one a homophobe. He does not have a history of gay bashing or problems with the gay community. People who want to continue with the name calling are not one bit better than he is. As far as Katherine is concerned, in my opinion it was inappropriate to publicly take sides against one of her castmates to begin with. Do what you want privately, but if the show wants to heal and remain together, she needs to keep quiet. Plus she makes TR look foollish. He's a 34 year old man and big enough to fight his own battles. He has certainly been doing a good job of it so far taking the incident to the press to begin with and blaming his coming out on one word uttered on a closed set not even directed at him. Isaiah is every bit as much a victim in this whole scenario as TR. I hope they can all get past this. Both men need therapy from my perspective. Isaiah for talking without thinking first and TR for self esteem issues if one word defines who he is. There is no need to keep pouring gasoline on the fire. Katherine would have taken the high road if she had simply said she doesn't know. That would also probably have been the truth.

  10. purplemerder Says:

I really don't see what is wrong with what she said...she didn't say anyting negative and saying that we don't know when he'll be back or for how long was not negative. the fact is that what she said is true.......

Isaiah brought this on himself when he opened his mouth and the globes.......he was wrong....he is the one in rehab.....leave it alone/

  11. Melissa Says:

KH did nothing wrong. She was asked a question, and she asked it honestly. She doesn't know what is happening since they do not tell her information about it. I mean seriously watch the full interview at ET or Access Hollywood. Katie is actually very supportive of Isaiah going to rehab, and taking the steps. When she said she doesn't have info actually helped the situation because then it would allow the cast not to be asked that by the media. I rather have honesty than B.S. which was what had since Oct. to Jan. The lying has to stop, and Katie has very nice about it. At the Golden Globes she was clearly upset. Who wouldn't be when your best friend was obiviously hurt by what Isaiah did, and lying about it. T.R. and Katie did nothing wrong. Isaiah, Shonda, and ABC are the ones to blame. Katie has every right to say what she wants, and to top it off she was really nice and diplomatic about it. I find it ironic how people are using soundbites of her red carpet interviews, and not even bother actually seeing the full interview where she blantly supported Isaiah. Geez....

  12. Burke Backer Says:

It has become clear where you stand on this, Purplemerder. I don't agree, and that's okay. We have been friends on this website up until now. I think he was set up at the Globes and still I was very disappointed in his statement and I am a big fan of his. I can see why people who are not fans or are only marginal fans would see it only negatively. There is no doubt that it put a damper on the festivities for the entire cast and took away from their joyous moment. However, he made his statement to respond to the question not to accuse TR. There is a huge difference that some people do not want to acknowledge.

The righteous indignation of fans of TR rings hollow when they turn around and engage in namecalling themselves. I believe someone in this thread referred to Isaiah as a pompus, homophobic jerk. Is that better than referring to TR as a fzzzt? I agree with Randy that Isaiah is sincerely sorry and is trying to make amends. I do disagree that KH's statement was harmless. By saying we don't know when or for how long, it implied that he might not be back or if he is, it might not be to stay. Those are very negative comments for Isaiah fans to hear especially when she admitted not knowing if they were true or not. It would have been best not to have commented at all just as it would have been best for Isaiah not to comment at all when he was asked directly about his homophobic slur.

There is more than one person wrong here and more than one victim. I think that is why there is such debate about it. It just depends on your perspective.

I personally do not see TR as a victim because he chose to put himself in that role by going to the press. He chose to "out" himself and blame it on his co-star. It was his decision to become the victim. Isaiah's statement was not directed at TR and I don't believe made to cause him harm or hurt, which is the definition of victim. Clearly the word that TR overheard did cause him hurt, but it appeared from all accounts to have been unintentional on Isaiah's part.

Isaiah is the victim of a hate campaign directed at him and intended to do him harm. That has made him a victim. It has been kept alive by a pro gay Hollywood press and other people with a gay agenda and in some cases by well meaning fans who simply want to support a character that they love. This brings a response from the Isaiah supporters, like me, who are wanting to give Isaiah the benefit of the doubt and believe that he made an error in the heat of the moment and is doing all he can to make amends.

I wish we could all leave it alone. I am happy that they won the SAG award for ensemble cast. I am also happy that Chandra won for her performance last year. It was really great of her to acknowledge that Isaiah is still a part of the cast and contributed greatly to their win. I'm sure it meant a lot to him. It meant a lot to me as a fan.

  13. rose Says:

I thought Chandra was very classy at the awards too, BB. And I think you deserve an award for being one of IW's biggest fans. You have tried very hard, through circumstances which are clearly painful for you, working to clear his name at every opportunity. And always in a calm and non-judgmental manner. You are a classy act too. I hope Isaiah knows he has fans like you who have stuck with him through it all.

  14. purplemerder Says:

Burke backer - I was under the impression that we were still friends on this site....but i guess you are saying that now we are not because we disagree on this subject. My last comment was not directed at you in particular.....i am not saying that Isaiah is the only one wrong...as far as KH comment at the GG i think she did go a to far when she said she would throw down...but at the SAG awards i don't feel that her comments were inappropriate....i am not sure what she could have said that wouldn't have upset someone.

I am still a fan of all the GA cast....And my feelings about what IW said have nothing to do with the fact that i am a diehard merder fan and now becoming also a diehard Alexison fan. I want to focus on how i care about how they act on screen and the job they do as far as that is concerned.....
I am glad that IW is coming back to the set. I didn't want him to get fired....my problem was that his comment at the GG's was inappropriate and it bothered me that he said that he didn't say the word but yet when it became a problem for disney and his job was in jeapordy he said he was wrong and went to rehab.....if he didn't do anything wrong like he said at the GG then why go to rehab or aplogize...he should have stuck to his guns saying he wasn't wrong. I didn't think he needed to go to rehab or met with the gay/lesbian groups...all i cared about was him and the others getting along and making sure that they have a nonthreating and hostile work environment.

I respect your opinion and others on this site...when they are nice......i never called anyone names and will not stoop to that level.....

I just want to sit on my couch and watch the amazing show and get on here and talk respectfully about how we liked or disliked what happend ON THE SHOW. Really i love you and i am sorry if i made you think that we were not still friends...i like you and some others get upset when people start name calling and being rude expressing their feelings......

So i hope we can get past this and remain GA buddies.

  15. TexasGreysFan Says:

BB - I completely agree with you on KH's comments...

"By saying we don't know when or for how long, it implied that he might not be back or if he is, it might not be to stay. Those are very negative comments for Isaiah fans to hear especially when she admitted not knowing if they were true or not".

How could anyone not think that this was implying that he may not be back at all. Her comment and any other cast member's comment to the press should have beeen "no comment". Then, none of us would have had anything to debate! I can't believe ABC didn't advise them to make "no comments". Justin and Ellen gave basically no information when they were asked about IW. Why did KH?

  16. Melissa Says:

Considering Isaiah is noted to be hothead this was long time coming for this person. This is the first time he was actually reprimanded. I don't care if the comment was direct at T.R. or not it was still directed at Patrick in a very negative matter. That is a slur word of hate. This is not the first time Isaiah had incidents on the set. ABC and Shonda did muzzle the cast for a good three months. The only one that blew that gag order was Isaiah. The moment he did that he threw everything at the window. When Katie said "I thrown down for that kid" was actually humor. It's not that hard to tell when Katie serious or being light-hearted. Her voice volume changes as does her expression. The cast was muzzled for three months because of that it snow balled out of control. Katie has showed support for Isaiah's efforts to get better, and has supported T.R. Even if the cast said "no comment" the fanbase would still be speculating. I find it ironic that the cast are handling this far better with tact than the internet fanbase of GA.

  17. Burke Backer Says:

Thanks Rose and TexasGreyFan. I get carried away sometimes and I'm glad you understand that I don't mean to be offensive. Your support of Isaiah here and other places on the web where I have read comments that I believe are from you is greatly appreciated. He needs to know that he has fans who believe in him and want him to remain in the role of Burke.

Purplemerder, I'm sorry. I was not saying that we are not still friends on this website. I hope that we are. I was not sure that you wanted to be friends any longer considering that I continue to support Isaiah and you have spoken out against him pretty strongly lately. We don't have to agree on everything. It just surprised me when you took a position that was anti-Isaiah in several posts after being so supportive when we went through this in October. We can disagree and still be friends, but I hope that you will at least keep an open mind that everything might not be quite what it seems or the way it has been portrayed in the media.

You said you weren't sure what Katie could have said, I think the best thing would simply be to say she didn't know anything and talk about her dress. In retrospect, while I wish she hadn't commented and her statements made me bristle, I suppose they might not have been so bad. Perhpas I am still upset with her for her tirade after the GGs and so was hyper critical of her statements at the SAG awards. I just think her holding onto this indignation on TR's account, as she apparently is, will not help TR and Isaiah get over their differences.

I still don't believe Isaiah lied at the Golden Globes. TR and Isaiah have different versions of what happened and no one else has stepped forward to say which one is telling the truth or is giving the more accurate account. There is clearly a difference between what Isaiah believes he said and what TR believes he overheard.

While I have no doubt that Isaiah is sorry for embarrassing his castmates and Shonda at the GGs and is sorry for offending TR whether intentional or not, he has never said that he called TR a slur. He apologized for using the word and is trying to make amends to the gay community and is doing some soul searching through therapy to see if he has issues which even he is unaware.

I was very disappointed in Isaiah for saying anything in response to Ted Casablanca at the Golden Globes. But I do not think he used the word inappropriately by telling his side of the story. TR himself used the word on the Ellen show to tell his side of the story. If it isn't a word to be uttered, than that should go for both actors. So, for me it was embarrassing at the GGs. It was not well thought out. But it wasn't malicious. I can't dislike him for that.

I know exactly how you feel about just wanting to sit on the couch and watch your favorite show and not have all of this controversy. I feel the same way.

  18. Burke Backer Says:

Hi Melissa, There was nothing in the press over a fifteen year career about Isaiah being a hothead until it became monetarily advantageous for someone to suddenly remember an incident from years ago to report just now. It is hard to know what to believe of all of the nonsense printed, but I am always skeptical of anyone who suddenly has a story to tell when they are paid handsomely to tell it, but didn't feel it was important to report before the person became the focus of the media. Others that he has worked with including Jim Pickens and Jeffrey Dean Morgan have said that Isaiah is intense and passionate about his work, but is not threatening or aggressive. Sandra Oh says that he very funny and she wishes he had more opportunity as Burke to show that side. The interesting thing to me is try as they undoubtedly have, the media could not find anyone to step forward with any incidents in the past that indicated Isaiah has been anti-gay.

We apparently saw the interview with Katherine Heigl after the Globes very differently. I saw her as anything but light hearted. Her comments were divisive and, while supportive of TR, they were hurtful to Isaiah. Then she kind of caught herself, realized that she herself might be in trouble for talking to the press, and tried to make light of it a bit. It didn't work. She was quoted all over the media as making serious threats to Isaiah if he hurt her friend. Calling TR a kid when he is considerably older than her was a little bit telling. Leading him by the hand up on the stage to receive the SAG award was also mildly disturbing. It is lovely that they are friends. however, I hope rather than helping each other nurse their perceived wounds they will look at the bigger picture of what this controversy is doing to the collegiality on the show and will try to mend what has been broken. People disappoint us and offend us. When that happens we hope they apologize as Isaiah has done repeatedly. We then accept the apology and movie on. That's kind of what adults do.

  19. purplemerder Says:

Burke Backer - we are still friends. I have in the past usually always support IW....it just all got blown up again...i didn't want him to be fired and hope that all the cast can do their job in a nonhostile environment.....

i know everything might not be as it seems..and yes we do see things differnt but that is okay...but i didn't want you to lump me in the category with all the other anit-IW people that were rude and calling names.....i tried to state my opinion without name calling....
