Small World For Ellen Pompeo, Chris Ivery
This tidbit isn't new. In fact, it was reported by USA Today over a year ago. But it was new to the Insider, and we thought we would share it with you, because it offers some insight into Ellen Pompeo's background, along with her perspective on life.
Over a patio dinner of filet mignon and Alaskan halibut in L.A., Pompeo, the Grey's Anatomy star, chatted up producer Billy Gerber, who recently filmed the big-screen Dukes of Hazzard remake.
Pompeo mentioned having read Malcolm Gladwell's book Blink, about trusting our instincts, and chatted about how things seem to be interconnected.
For instance, when she first met her boyfriend of several years, music producer Chris Ivery (right) at a grocery store, she was more focused on food than romance.
But two days later, they met again, started dating, and discovered they grew up 10 miles from each other -- and that Ivery knew Pompeo's father.
Ellen hails from Everett, Massachusetts, just north of Boston.
Another coincidence? The Hollywood home she and Ivery rent (or at least rented at the time this article was first published) is just 10 doors down from her Grey's Anatomy true love, Patrick Dempsey. Ivery and Dempsey like to race scooters together down their street.
"It's a very small world," Pompeo said.

This is old news I do not believe they still live down the street form eachother, Ellen has now bought a house.

Read more cardfully next time. They stated that it was old news. They also stated that they lived down the street from each other when this article was written. But it is still a nice story anyway their just such great friends and it shows.

This is why I believe some things are meant to happen. My hubby and I had grandparents that lived down the street from each other, and mutual friends and never met until we were teenagers. For me it doesn't it matter if some stories are repeated, as long as they are happy ones!!! I think Ellen Pompeo and Chris Ivery are cute. I would love to see a scooter race between Chris and Dr. McDreamy!

Thx Shannon but they changed it after I mentioned they no longer lived down the street from eachother... I think I would have noticed the large bracketed sentence.
But it is really great they were/are so close!

Congratulations to Chris and Ellen. I like older men. I think Chris is gorgeous. Too bad a sista won't get to have him, but I still wish them well anyway. My momma said not to dignify ignorance with a reply, so I won't respond about the racists.
