This week on the Round Table, George grows suspicious of Burke while his father's condition worsens, Alex and Izzie talk in the third person (and kiss), and Meredith gives bright and sunny a try ...
When, if ever, will Izzie give Alex another chance romantically?
McCritic: McCritic doesn't see Izzie ever giving Alex another chance. It's not Karev's fault. McCritic believes he's a genuine, caring individual underneath that rough exterior. But McCritic also thinks Alex was too close to Denny. It will take Izzie long enough to find romance with anyone, let alone a guy that knew Denny personally.
Just makes it too sensitive. McCritic is sorry, though, and hopes both Izzie and Alex find happiness.
iheartizzie: It will take a while, but the way he handled getting shot down last night was promising. As long as Alex "gets it" and realizes that what Izzie needs most in life is a good friend, the benefits will come eventually.
Married-to-McDreamy: I really do think (and hope!) that Izzie will give Alex another chance but I think it will take time. He needs to be careful with her. She is barely ready to be working again, let alone dating or kissing other boys.
Is George's dad going to make it?
Married-to-McDreamy: This is questionable. The man does not sound like he is in very good shape. If his carburetor is on the fritz, combined with the stage three cancer, his chances of survival seem about as slim as he is. Poor Mr. O'Malley.
McCritic: No. Wish I could give a hopeful diagnosis, but stage-three metastatic esophageal cancer is close to a death sentence. In 2004, 13,300 of the 14,250 new cases of the disease died from it. At stage four, doctors don't even operate. Sadly, Mr. O'Malley looks to have gone on his last hunting trip.
iheartizzie: It doesn't look good. Burktina drama aside, the cancer is spreading and his body might not be able to defeat it through multiple surgeries and agonizing chemo treatment. It's tragic, because he clearly loves George more than he's able to express. Mr. O'Malley is now part of two of my favorite scenes in the show's history: Last night, when his face lit up upon Cristina saying what a good person George is, and last year, in "Thanks For the Memories," when he shook his head with amazement (and pride) as George described saving the man's life in the elevator.
Will Dr. Burke admit he's having problems with his hand?
Married-to-McDreamy: It doesn't look like he's going to have a choice in the coming episodes. George has clearly found out about his secret and Miranda may be realizing that something is amiss as well. I predict lots of drama for Dr. Burke and his right-hand (literally) man, Cristina, very soon.
McCritic: He'll confide in George. Together with Cristina, this trio will figure out a way for Burke to receive help without admitting to the hospital such a dangerous cover-up. Preston may be out of the OR for awhile as a result, but the leave will give him more time to perfect his blueberry pancakes. And that's never a bad thing.
iheartizzie: Dr. Burke is a man of integrity. He's McPerfect, so much so that we've debated whether or not he is even human. As hard as it is for Preston to admit to himself that he's not making the grade, it will be even more difficult for him to lie to others amidst increasing speculation regarding his condition. He'll come clean. What happens after that is anyone's guess.
Do you prefer Meredith bright and shiny or dark and twisty?
McCritic: How about quiet and hidden?
iheartizzie: I like that she gave bright and sunny a try. But I also like that it didn't take. One of the best scenes from last night was second time she and Derek sat in the bathtub. Worn down by life, rather than eternally optimistic, he jokingly pledged that he would remain "dull and lifeless" with her. It was a very real moment. While being constantly down in the dumps doesn't get you anywhere, bright and sunny is easier said than done.
Married-to-McDreamy: I most definitely prefer dark-and-twisty Meredith. The bright-and-shiny Meredith made me uncomfortable and I felt as though she had been possessed by aliens or Scientologists.

I think I prefer Meredith dark and twisty. Don't get me wrong, she's one of my favorite characters, but I felt like she was more... realistic dark and twisty. Because I'm kinda of dark and twisty. And Mer always made me feel better about myself because she's a lot more messed up than I am.
Mr. O'Malley, as loveable character as he is, won't make it. It's close to impossible to save him at this point, and with Burke not at his best, it's just downright hopeless.
Izzie and Alex... no idea. I would LOVE to see them give it another chance, but I don't know if she'll let him. She was really attached to Denny, and that worked out just wonderful for her... not.

Somehow I don't think Izzie & Alex are going to work.... over on spoilerfix, the exact words: Addison & Alex are ON.

First, Izzie and Alex, I really think they will find their way back together if Addison doesn't get in the way. She is kind of attracted to Alex, too. I really love the friendship that is developing between Alex and Izzie, though, and am rooting for them to be together. It will just take more time for Izzie to get over Denny.
I really hope George's dad makes it through the surgery for everyone's sake. Whether he will get over the cancer, I don't know. It doesn't look good. I wonder if we will ever meet George's mom. I am kind of curious about what she looks like.
I am really hoping that Burke admits to his problem with the hand before anyone dies. He is a good and honorable person and I don't want him to be forced to admit to it. I want him to realize it is the right thing to do.
I like Meredith bright and shiny, but I also like her dark and twisty. I think it is hard to stay bright and shiny all of the time. No one is more bright and shiny that Izzie and even she was brought down to the depths of dispair. Meredith is just human. She has up days and down days. I think Derek will help her be bright and shiny more often.

Yes I saw the promo it was unreal!!!!!!!!!!

Izzie and alex seems to get along better when they are just friends. Don't think they will be a couple again. Izzie still has DENNY written all over her face!
I think George's dad is going to make it considering what i've seen in the previews of the next episode. Dr Hahn will be doing the operation i think.
If that is really going to happen next week, Burke's ego will be bruised. And i really think Burke should admit about the problems with his hands. He and Christina are a team no doubt but we still cannot ignore the fact that Christina is still just an intern. She'll screw up sooner or later.
About Meridith, i prefer her bright and shiny because this means that she is back with McDreamy. I hope the MerDer fans will get some of the great moments between them like those of season one!

I saw that promo on Oprah, and I think all that blood on Cristina was Mr. O'Malley's. I don't think Mr. O'Malley is even going to survive next week's episode.
If Alex and Izzy are to happen, it won't be until after Alex and Addison, which I called to all my friends last spring when she "owned his ass" on gyne squad. (Sorry for gloating, I just saw that one coming.) Actually, I loved Alex and Izzy together this week. They still have their chemistry, and if they go through a long period of friendship, it will only help any future romance between them. Alex was awesome this week, but I'm biased, he's always been my favorite.
I'm with McCritic - I like Meredith is best quiet and hidden.

I think Izzy and Alex belong together---he has been crazy about her since day 1--the show should delve a little into his screwed up background. His friendship with Izzy & the others has helped him develop loving relationships--obviously something that was not taught to him at home!!
However, I agree that there's something there between Addison & Alex. It would be poetic justice that McSteamy would lose out to Alex for Addison's affection. I also think it would make Alex more attractive to Izzy (she could feel the pang of jealousy) if she saw another competent ,capable, loving woman form an attachment to him. Not to mention the sex would probably be great!!!!after the relationship ran its course, izzy and alex could finally get their timing down and end up happy together!!!!! also, there needs to be an episode where he is offered casual sex, but because of his affection/love for/commitment to (someone??addison or izzie)--he says no (that would be a first).its about time good won out over evil, huh?

Can we have Meredith somewhere in between? Bright and shiny was way too weird and unnatural and dark and twisty is unnecessary now that Derek is back in her life and her bed as it appears next week!
I have to say, although I know I'm in the minority, I hope Alex does NOT sleep w/Addison. Can we have one attending who is not sleeping w/an intern??
