Eric Dane to Star in Wedding Wars

The Insider has learned, thanks to a reader who was kind enough to inform us, that Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane will be appearing in Wedding Wars, a comedy about gay marriage - with a twist.

The A&E original film debuts December 11, starring Dane, John Stamos, Bonnie Somerville, James Brolin and others. If you’re interested in obtaining tickets for a special red carpet screening of the film and the VIP party, you can buy them for just $40 through the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), the organization sponsoring the event.

Follow the above link to GLAAD's official site to learn more. It's for a good cause, and looks like a funny movie, too. We look forward to seeing McSteamy in a slightly different role than we're used to!

Grey's Anatomy Caption Contest XXXII

An even hundred. That's how many replies we received for this edition of our Caption Contest -- and the very last one proved to be the winner.

Randall as won himself a copy of Joe Purdy's album, Julie Blue, which features two terrific songs heard on Grey's Anatomy ("I Love the Rain" and "Far Away Blues") and is a great listen all-around.

Mer & Der Tub It Up

Now this is a soap opera I could get used to.”

Grey Chatter: Blinded By the Light

Is it a coincidence that "Staring at the Sun" began with Meredith talking in her voiceover about blind spots at the same time that she and Derek are in the tub together? Could this be some foreshadowing about the impending doom about to play out in their relationship?

McDreamy in the TubBecause while seeing them together in the tub is deliciously steamy, it is hard to let go of all the drama and emotions that have led them to this point. It seems that at any moment, this bright and shiny existence may come crumbling down, just as it has before. On the other hand, they are each dark and twisty enough in their own ways to maybe make it work.

While this opening scene is certainly going down in Grey’s best scenes ever, the real story of the episode seems to be George. First of all, George and Cristina. Two people who aren’t often paired together, mainly because they are so different. But George’s dad has pulled them together in a heartbreaking way. Obviously, George wants what’s best for his dad, which normally would include the expertise of Cristina and Burke.

But George is also slowly figuring out Burke’s secret. It is somewhat ironic that the attributes that George respects in Preston – his honor, his confidence, his honesty – are the very things that Burke is currently lacking, forcing George to question his own integrity, and do the right thing.

Isaiah Washington: Life is Good On Set

Isaiah Washington: A Better Man For ItIsaiah Washington says his on-set dust-up with co-star Patrick Dempsey last month was blown out of proportion and that everyone on the show is having "a great time."

At the opening night party for the Skin + Bones: Parallel Practices in Fashion and Architecture exhibit at L.A.'s Museum of Contemporary Art on Saturday, Washington was asked by People about the on-set argument and if things were all good on the Grey's Anatomy set these days.

"Everything was good on the set four weeks ago," he said.

He joked that he's bought stock in a tabloid-magazine company because they "make so much money off of us." The media coverage "was disappointing," he said, "but now I'm a shareholder. I'm a businessman."

Washington and Dempsey discussed the fracas (for which Washington later issued an apology in a statement) on The Oprah Winfrey Show in a special segment that aired Friday.

"I lost my cool, but it wasn't coming out of a place of animus for Patrick or (costar) T.R. Knight or anyone. It was coming out of a place of trying to stay focused about the work," Washington told Winfrey, who visited the Grey's set for the interviews. "I've been working with these beautiful men for three years now, and we had an argument as brothers. It came about at a time and a place that was overwhelming for both of us."

Washington clarified: "What it was not, was a brawl."

Patrick Dempsey says the ensemble is stronger after the incident.

"I think what happens is we needed to just be open and be able to communicate and not let things build up. I think we've come to that point where it's much freer to communicate with each other, and we're more relaxed because of it. I think the whole company's tighter," Dempsey said.

At the MOCA event, Washington added that working with Shonda Rhimes on Grey's Anatomy is the "opportunity of a lifetime." He added that he can't wait to see the Thanksgiving episode.

"Cristina and Burke have their opportunity to kind of get sweaty," he said. "It was a lot of fun."

Round Table: Staring at the Sun

This week on the Round Table, George grows suspicious of Burke while his father's condition worsens, Alex and Izzie talk in the third person (and kiss), and Meredith gives bright and sunny a try ...

When, if ever, will Izzie give Alex another chance romantically?

Friends... and More?McCritic: McCritic doesn't see Izzie ever giving Alex another chance. It's not Karev's fault. McCritic believes he's a genuine, caring individual underneath that rough exterior. But McCritic also thinks Alex was too close to Denny. It will take Izzie long enough to find romance with anyone, let alone a guy that knew Denny personally.

Just makes it too sensitive. McCritic is sorry, though, and hopes both Izzie and Alex find happiness.

iheartizzie: It will take a while, but the way he handled getting shot down last night was promising. As long as Alex "gets it" and realizes that what Izzie needs most in life is a good friend, the benefits will come eventually.

Married-to-McDreamy: I really do think (and hope!) that Izzie will give Alex another chance but I think it will take time. He needs to be careful with her. She is barely ready to be working again, let alone dating or kissing other boys.

Is George's dad going to make it?

Married-to-McDreamy: This is questionable. The man does not sound like he is in very good shape. If his carburetor is on the fritz, combined with the stage three cancer, his chances of survival seem about as slim as he is. Poor Mr. O'Malley.

Tonight's Episode: Staring at the Sun

Tonight's episode, "Staring at the Sun," picks up right where Grey's Anatomy left off last week with "Where the Boys Are."

Mr. & Dr. O'MalleyGeorge's father, who we were introduced to in Season 2 (right) is admitted to the hospital a serious heart problem that requires surgery. George chooses Dr. Burke to do the procedure, because he's the best... or so Dr. O'Malley and most of the Seattle Grace staff believe.

Burke, of course, is not fine, at least not entirely, and doubts himself because he knows the pressure this kind of surgery will put on him. But Cristina believes the "team" can handle it. George starts to wonder what's amiss and tensions rise throughout the hospital.

Derek and Meredith on being a couple again... in the bathtub, apparently, as well as at work. McDreamy also tries his best to work with Addison on more civil terms. A patient comes to see Mark, having had mutiple plastic surgeries so that his girlfriend will like him more.

Lastly, a mom wants her daughter's babysitter fired, after she is brought in with injuries -- only the girl would rather her mother be fired.

Intriguing stuff. As usual, we will have our episode guide posted after the broadcast, along with our list of quotes, pictures and music from tonight. Check back with the Insider often!

Ham & Eggs in December Reader's Digest

Ham & Eggs!Is George the pig? Will he ever be?

That's a question that may be answered tonight. Or not. Regardless, the "ham and eggs" analogy made by the patient who inspired George has been around a long time, and even appears in December's Reader's Digest.

Howard Schnellenberger, 72, the head football coach at Florida Atlantic University and formerly the head coach at the University of Miami and the University of Oklahoma, uses it to outline the difference between mere involvement and commitment to his players:

"When you're eating ham and eggs, the chicken that laid the eggs was involved. But the pig that provided the ham was totally committed," he says.

It's interesting that this is being used in the sports world as well as in the case of intimate relationships. We thought Grey's Anatomy fans might appreciate this - especially if you were still confused by the pig metaphor made by Dr. O'Malley in "Let the Angels Commit."

Katherine Heigl: Cosmopolitan Cover Girl

Katherine Heigl: Cosmopolitan Cover GirlKatherine Heigl might be the hottest - and most uncensored - actress in Hollywood.

She eats with abandon, swears up a storm, and gushes about her fiancé... and her Grey's Anatomy costars.

The actress, who's the Cosmpolitan cover story for December, stands out in the crowd... and not just because she's famous. Dressed in a low-cut black camisole that she comes daringly close to spilling out of (the girl is blessed), tight jeans, and wedge heels that add at least three inches to her already 5'9" frame, she's impossible not to stare at.

As soon as she orders a dirty martini and tells the waiter "You rock" when he sets it down, it becomes clear she's impossible not to like, either.

Two years ago, 28-year-old Katherine Heigl, or simply Katie to friends, was just another beautiful blond actress making the rounds in Hollywood. Although under the radar, she'd been working pretty steadily since age 9, appearing in films like Bride of Chucky and the TV series Roswell.

But by 2004, she was worried that her career wasn't headed to the heights she'd dreamed of while growing up in the preppy town of New Canaan, Conn.

Then it happened.

She landed the role of model-turned-medical-intern Izzie Stevens on Grey's Anatomy, and just like that, she became a bona fide celebrity. Buoyed by the national obsession with the show and its gorgeous cast, Katherine now has plenty of choice roles to pick from (next summer, she'll star in the comedy Knocked Up).

In the midst of all the hoopla, she also has managed to hit it big in the love department. Katherine met rocker Josh Kelley in 2005, appearing in his video for "Only You," and she's been all about him ever since. Josh popped the question this past June.

As if that weren't enough to inspire envy, the girl has even more admirable traits: She's smart (she reads constantly), open about her love life (Josh even stopped by her interview for a smooch), and delightfully opinionated:
