This week on the Round Table, Izzie grieves, Callie cooks, and mostly-unnecessary blasts from the past are all the rage. Our esteemed panel weighs in on last night's episode...
Why the heck is Finn's hat in any Meredith-related ring?
McCritic: Because it lost a bet? I have no idea. Meredith can be sweet and all - but between the hysterics, and obvious parallel, over Doc being put to sleep and then, you know, the sex with Derek at the prom, it's obvious where this doctor's heart lies. Stevie Wonder has 20/20 vision compared to you, Finn. Find a girl that appreciates you.
AwayWithMerDer: Duh, 'cause they were never exclusive. Obviously he can't be angry at Meredith, who was being celibate, for sleeping with a married man. Go Team Finn. He's not pathetic or anything.
iheartizzie: He adores her, despite her flaws. You have to wonder why he's even bothering, though... if he figured out what happened at the prom, he should know his chances are remote. Yet you have to admire him for going down swinging.
Flashbacks: I want more? Pretty huge bore?
iheartizzie: The flashback of Derek leaving Addison was compelling. It was painful and emotionally charged -- even more so than the powerful scene of Miranda and Omar sobbing on opposite sides of the door. That glimpse into Derek's past tells a lot about him. As for the rest of them, they didn't offer anything new. Yes, Derek met Meredith at the bar! What's the point?
AwayWithMerDer: I want more Addison in no pants. Yum. The other flashbacks? Pretty huge bore.
McCritic: Given the brief nature of them -- and the lack of any new information revealed from these characters' pasts -- I'd refer to them as a "pretty huge bore." But I am curious if Preston and his killer purple tie/shirt combo closed the deal with that fox at the party as well as he closes incisions on the operating table.
Does George smell what Callie is cooking?
AwayWithMerDer: I sure hope so. It looked like some sort of Italian. Maybe a nice pesto sauce? Either way, some authentic Italian cooking from this Latina character. And if George doesn't notice your cooking? Count me in!
McCritic: I think so. He just needs time to chew, swallow and digest it. We don't want our fragile intern choking to death, do we?
iheartizzie: Probably. Did you see how many things she had going in the kitchen? The aroma surely filled most of the house when he walked in.
What's next for the grieving Isobel Stevens?
McCritic: Two words: Cup. Cakes.
AwayWithMerDer: I think she needs 50 cc's of Karev. Stat. And with the new haircut he got in the one day between seasons 2 and 3? What a stud!
iheartizzie: Reading the classifieds. I heart Izzie, but no way our girl is getting back into the internship program after pulling a stunt like that. Nor could she find the strength. Hate to say it, but the pompous Alex we saw at that cocktail party was right.

maybe meredith will take into consideration what finn said to her before he walked out & then mcdreamy walks in. but then again she might want the bad guy over the good guy. shes torn between the two. but shes had a hell of a past with mcdreamy. and finn is new to her life. and for izzie the girl is heartbroken and shes starting to realize that maybe she should start mourning. and will probably pig out for the next few days. and for miranda! wow now if that wasnt intense, i havent seen her so emotional before. she did very well, shes got a hardshell, but once she cracks... shes kind of human. and george is finally opening up to callie, he realized that hes got one life to live and he surely has not lived it up. and callie, well she just wants him to notice her. she loves the guy.
just a girl standing in front of a guy asking him to love her. this episode was definately good. cant wait til next week!

Worst one ever. It was slow and not interesting. No emotions. No suspens at all. The only good part was when McDreamy told Meredith he made the wrong choice. But the fact that she has to make a choice??????????
Where does that come from? She has been dying to get back with him since they broke up. Remember:"pick me" and now they want us to think that she might hesitate with Finn! Come on!!!!

okay. the point why they showed mcdreamy and meredith meeting in a bar was because they were going on a shpeal about how one minute one moment can change your life forever. and the moment for the interns was @ that party becuase they were about to be interns... ie that is the reason why izzi gets off teh floor. the moment for addison was when derek found out she was cheating. that slut. jk
and the moment for derek.. when his life chagned. was when he met meredith. VERY VERY PROFOUND.

What an awesome episode! I absolutely loved it, but come on, it was Grey's Anatomy, so how could anyone not love it. All of the things happening tied together somewhat...

What about Mer's flashback to her mom and Richard parting ways? I think that comes into play with her indecision on Finn or McDreamy. She saw how this great love between Richard and her mother tore them apart. I think she's wondering if she should stay with Finn b/cse he is good, stable and less explosive than her relationship with Derek.
You couldn't get any more emotional than Bailey though, that woman was awesome! I personally want to see a flashback to Addison and McSteamy and what happened between the two of them after Derek left for Seattle.

I was in aw the entire episode. Yeah i was happy Derek finally came out and admited that he loved her but what about Addison? He never even mentioned the entire episode what was going to happen. If anything, Addison might wait for Derek to come out and admit what happened. How did Addison find Meredith's panites? I know in the finale see was sensing something when everyone said they were going to call it a night, but how? I don't want meredith to chose derek. LAst time she was ready to be with him but he rejected her for his demolished marriage and now she has found someone she likes and he comes in and ruins it for Meredith. BLAH!

I honestly enjoyed last night's episode. I enjoyed seeing the flashbacks...they may have seemed strange, random, even corny...but it's all part of the "how" and "why" we've gotten to this point in the story. And the Mer/Der reflection was to show us (first off) HE was the aggressor (which we knew anyways) and that all adds to the irony of their situation. I was intensely watching the whole episode, but when Christina told Burke "Don't ever die..." wow. I felt a tear at that point.
Count me in for round two next week...I still need answers!

I loved when Derek met Mer in the bar.. that was incredible!! Plus when he told her that he loved her and said that she had a choice to make!! But what's the choice.... she wanted Derek for a long time... plus Meridith doesnt even know Finn that well.. so I definitley think she should stay with Derek...

It's good to see that it was really Derek who made the move on Meredith. Season 2 mostly pictured Mer as a slut who doesn't have any qualms with picking up guys at the bar for casual, cold-blooded one night stands. But we saw in the flashback that it was Derek who hit on her. Ironically, Cristina who was in awe with Burke at the start of the internship now (seen in flashback again) holds Burke's heart in the palm of her hand.
With so much flashback though, I miss the feel of the surgical world superimposed with the stories of interns' lives. The season 3 premiere feels a li'l heavy/intense by Grey's Anatomy's standards. I miss the banter of all 5 interns together.
But I see the possibility of Karev-Addison liason. Hint! Hint!

To whomever was wondering, Addison was wearing Derek's jacket in the opening of the episode. It's pretty easy to surmise she found the panties in the pocket.
I applaud her for taking the strength to do what she did. She didn't ignore it, nor run groveling to Derek. She took a stand. It was obviously tearing her apart--"I just don't understand how you can go back day-to-day and pretend everything is right. Because it's not"--that was an obvious parallel.
Derek is a coward.
