The Grey's Anatomy Spoilers We Know Of
If Shonda Rhimes (right) had her way, there would be no Grey's Anatomy spoilers. The show's creator and executive producer is notoriously secretive about future plot lines, determined to build suspense and preserve the show's integrity. But we've picked up a few things since the Season 2 finale last May, and with Season 3 around the corner, here's a brief spoiler list... along with our take.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
-- Sources say the premiere of Season Three will be called "Time Has Come Today," taking its name from a song by The Chambers Brothers. Shonda won't divulge how much time has passed in the Grey's Anatomy world between the Season Two finale and the September resumption, but she does state in her blog that Grey's "is odd in that an episode may air that is actually in real time only moments after the last episode ended." So who knows whether we will pick up where we left off, or sometime a little later.
-- Despite leaving the internship program following the tragic death of Denny Duquette (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), Dr. Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl) remains a principal cast member in Season Three. Whether she reclaims her job after the impropriety that took place in the finale is another story. As for Morgan, he'll be coming back from the dead... in a new series created by Rhimes.
-- Sara Ramirez (left) who appeared near the end of Season 2 as sassy Dr. Callie Torres, has been promoted and is now a full-time cast member. The Mexican-American actress, who plays the love interest of Dr. George O'Malley (T.R. Knight) becomes the latest component of what many believe is TV's most diverse and talented cast.
-- As we've talked about several times, a legendary guest star will "Grace" our favorite Seattle Hospital this fall. Diahann Carroll, 72, the first African-American woman to ever star in a TV series, will join the cast, creator Rhimes confirms. As for what her role will be, theories range from an administrative counterpart to Dr. Webber (James Pickens, Jr.) to the mother of Dr. Burke (Isaiah Washington).
-- Another fan favorite guest star (one who isn't dead) will make his return. Folks clamoring for more "McSteamy" will apparently get their wish as Eric Dane, who guest starred as Dr. Mark Sloan in Season 2, will be recoming back to SGH. The charming, self-destructive doc, whose affair with Addison left the Shepherds' marriage in shambles, should provide us with greater insight into Derek's back story, and may influence the show's famous love triangle (or, what some are calling a quadrangle by this point).
-- Chris O'Donnell (Finn Dandridge) will return to the set of Grey's Anatomy in Season Three, although it is not clear for how many episodes. Last season, the star originally signed on for eight episodes, but various reports state he may have upped that total. It's also unclear if that count includes his first appearance, in which he got a whole 10 seconds of screen time.
That's all for now, but we'll pass along more if we come across any. Let us know via our forums if there's anything you've heard, and be sure to keep in touch on all the latest Grey's Anatomy news via our blog. Thanks!
the season sounds incredibly awesome. can't wait! i hope they go a little more into alex's life this season, i'd love to see his house, learn more about him, etc.
August 18th, 2006 5:43 PM
So would I. I also want to learn more about Christina's back life and Derek's
About when it will start off: I read in an interview with Shonda that it'll begin a couple of hours after the finale left off.
Question: Do you have scoop on what Izzie will do in the third season of Grey's? My guess is she'll be an OB-GYN resident, as it might seem strange for her to go back to surgery. Am I right? â€" Cara
Ausiello: My guess is she'll go to work for McVet, but that's just a guess. BTW, Izzie may be getting in even more hot water over Denny â€" if that's even possible. The buzz is that she'll get a tongue-lashing in the season premiere for hanging out with Denny's body in the morgue. Apparently, surgeons (even disgraced ones) aren't allowed down there.
I am glad that Izzie is returning since she is one of my favourite characters. My guess is that she will come back on Addison's service as a OB/Gyn although some episodes hinted that Addison does Neonatal surgery which is completely different so I think the writers are a bit confused since those are two completely different specialties. In any case, Izzie being back is great.
I LOVE GREYS ANATOMY!!.. HOPEFULLY THIS SEASON WILL BE AS GOOD AS LAST! COMPARED TO THE FIRST SEASON, SEASON 2 WAS 100% BETTER.... LETS SEE IF THEY CAN MAKE IT ANY BETTER!!!
August 21st, 2006 5:34 AM
I just hope that in the 3rd season, Mer & Der will have no more problems in their relationship! Their is one of the best love story I've never seen! Of course, I also hope Addison will leave the SGH and Seattle too!
August 21st, 2006 9:26 PM
what about Burktina? Do they stand a chance?
I would love it to go on, for they make such
an odd but wonderful couple to watch, much
more real and relatable than Mer/Der couple.
August 23rd, 2006 12:52 PM
I want many problems for Preston and Cristina. She's so cold, a girl without heart.
MerDer deserve to be happy. They are amazing together.
Finally Mark! He's perfect for Addison.
Izzie deserves a great man.
August 23rd, 2006 12:54 PM
Stop with Burtina. They annoying.
August 24th, 2006 7:33 AM
I want more alex.. i wish Izzy finally forgives him!!
August 24th, 2006 11:39 PM
I really wish that Merediths panties somehow end up where Addison finds them, guesses they are Merdiths and asks her about them (mer says theyre hers) Addison and Derek have a huge fight and when McSteamy comes back Addison goes with him.
Another story would be (yes I know this happened with cristina & Burke) but anyways Mer gets pregnant from that night at the prom, and has a bit of morning sickness and addison notices (seeing as shes a gynocologist/neonatal whatever..) and checks her out (secretly taking a paternity test) and finds that shes pregnant and its dereks baby (wouldn't that cuase a HUGE HUGE HUGE thing!
August 27th, 2006 2:40 PM
Meredith has to pick McDreamy!!!Addison should just take off and let everyone be!! As for christina, Burke has to dump her, I mean, come on, she's sooooooo cold!
season three looks incredibly great. i cannot wait for it to beign. mer&&der shoudl continue to have problems bcuz thats what makes the whole show so interesting. and as for cristina...shes not cold shes just misunderstood. sure shes not the friendliest person but being with burke is making her open up and learn to show feelings. and her and burke are total opposites making them perfect for eachother. alex and izzy well their destined to be together, and i think its very in practical for her to be let back into the hospital after all that she did but im glad that she is! and george..poor george. hopefully him and callie will end up together and he can learn to love someone other than mer. && hopefully mark will come and whisk adisson somwhere far far away from SGH. nobody wants her there anyways. =]
I'm really glad Izzie is back! yeah she's my fav. Her life had always been sucks since her younger days but that didn't stop her from being lively and so full of life but I really hope she learn her lesson after Denny's death. I love to see her interact with Mere more. From what I had seen Mere can have a few laugh and smile a lot when she's around Izzie. Mere/Der always- they belong together. Addison should let go what that is no longer hers. I think Christina would also learn how to express her feeling more for Burke. Seeing Izzie lost her man had finally open her eyes. Still not sure just what was Alex feeling towards Izzie. There's still something unsolved with these two. As for Callie , I see she's too strong for George and quite possessive seeing they're still new in their relationship that can be suffocating. George need to know she's not a rebound girl.
I LOVE GREY'S ANATOMY!!! i hope burke and christina stay together cause there just so amazing together. shes not cold, shes honest. mer/der better get together for at least a little while. i hope addison realizes she is not wanted and flies far far away. i love george but i hate callie and i hope he ends up with olivia. i hope izzie and alex get together because its destiny and theyre perfect!!!
September 9th, 2006 1:53 AM
Omg Addison has to stay i love her so much at least she is trying to be friends with mer.
P.S i sooo agree christina is cold but thats what makes her christina
September 18th, 2006 11:41 AM
i hope Addison stays..i love her!!
and christina's the BEST!! so waht if she's cold??
she's by far THE funniest character on the show!!
i really really really hope they bring MARK back..
HE IS SOOO HOTTTT!!!
September 21st, 2006 12:13 AM
Loooove the show ! I'm compltely addicted! My personal favorites are Christina (i find her hillarious!) and George (I dig nice guys!) oh and also love dr. Burke - I think he's hot and sooo smart! Hope the show goes on forever!
September 26th, 2006 11:10 AM
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Christina. She reminds me so much of my daughter, who obsesses over the show as much as I do. I can't figure who I relate to more of the characters just yet - perhaps I'm a mixture.
We were pretty bummed about Denny, but I think that will make a bridge for the true feelings between Alex and Izzie. He's sweet in his own jerk kind of way (he sincerely cares for her and can't hide it).
I wonder who, if any, will marry on the show first. Actually I hope it is Burke and Christina, although I somehow doubt it. I think they complement and balance each other.
As for Callie being too strong a woman for George - I don't think so. No woman is ever too strong for a sweet, caring man (which no matter how you put it, George definitely is)!
And I'll state the obvious - of course Mer & Der had better get together in the end, even if it takes years...
Man I can't begin to express how much I love this show. My son says I'm more addicted to it than I was to 'Friends' - and he's right!
September 26th, 2006 12:45 PM
Man, I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen this Thrusday so what I did is I went and read the spolier for the "I am a Tree." Well I am sooooooo excited to see the look on Derek's face as well as Addison. 2more days!
Shonda: This is the first time I ever followed a "soap" - but I love medicine and since I am getting my RN BSN it especially interests me. Keep up the good work! May I make a few comments?
Preston Burke is AWESOME! He needs a greater role! His character is multifaceted and could be developed tremendously! He has terrific SEX appeal and plays his brilliance, self-confidence, gentleness, caring, intelligence VERY WELL!
Christina has HUGE problems and is a real passive aggressive personality with MAJOR communication problems. Your line for Burke's mother was great - that Burke is giving and Christina is selfish. I don't see how you can turn her around while maintaining the character line you began with Christina. She is so hard and so cold and so self-seeking that it overshadows any character line of medical brilliance.
Callie is GREAT! Super putting her in! Smart and finally a plus size in a major show! Smart and in an ortho speciality that she owns since no one else on the show is written for that field. She needs her own apartment - WITH George of course.
George is TREMENDOUSLY WEAK! It is painful to even watch him talk. His hesitatingly, insecure, immature conclusions, doormat personality is sad. I can see it would be easy to write some backbone into his lines and make him actually become a man. The lack of respect you wrote in from the women in the Grey house toward him solidified his weakness. His sex with Meredith was a writing disaster - a loser for both of them - not furthering either character - or the story line. The Callie sex is working in the show but George is still a wimp even in that. Maybe it would help if he FINALLY got OUT of the Grey house and moved in with Callie since they both need a place. Basically he needs to turn his heart toward Callie and grow up.
Meredith is doing a great job. The energy with Derek is TOTALLY believable!
Derek is super and also is doing a great job. Of course I would like to see him marry Meredith and really develop that character line for both of them.
Finn is good but not strong enough to succeed as a character against Derek. I wonder if his bringing Izzie lunch could grow into an Izzie-Finn thing.
Izzie is TOTALLY nuts and spaced out. She crossed the line so grossly that it really ruined the show and the story line with Denny - as it was not believable. Apparently you are throwing her back in without so much as a psych consult or grief counseling. This is totally unreal. She should be up on malpractice charges and have to defend those - and certainly up against formal dismissal charges from the hospital. She is so mentally unbalanced that her character is diminished on a medical level.
Alex is very believable for the character as written and does well. He needs a love interest instead of just being a male whore. It seemed a good match with Izzie until she went to extremes with Denny. His character is so shallow that it is almost nonexistent. He needs to be developed. It was interesting to see his sensitive side with GYN and PEDS and the little baby - and his revealing tough guy softening when he talked of surviving abuse in childhood. That could be developed.
Bailey is a flower pot. Her character is very limited and one dimensional. The intro of her hubby and son helped but not enough. All she is written to do is yell, be tough, be mean, and bacrk orders. Even her parts where she is a surgeon or helped Omar did not succeed in softening her character. She needs to be broadened to survive.
Addison is ridiculously double minded. The affair with McSteamy ruining her marriage and then her callinig McSteamy to jump right back in the sack when Derek made his choice shows that she really never had any deep interest in that relationship once she had the initial affair. The fact that she is supposed to be the best GYN around helps somewhat. But her character is very shallow and a contradiction for the medical brilliance if a person was fully mature. Her interaction with Derek and Meredith was not believable all along. Keeping her at the hospital will be challenging to write lines that have any depth in the right direction.
McSteamy is written as the best plastic guy but plays someone who has serious character flaws including immaturity and shallowness. The only hope would be for Addison and him to move in together so their characters can develop independently of Meredith and Derek.
Chief is doing a good job but for a chief his authority is not a great or noticable as it would normally be. His breakup with his wife is unrealistic - at her age and after all those years she has no place else to go and would not give up the comfortable life and prestige. He can't get together with Meredith's mother unless you bring her out of alzheimers with a new medical treatment. He needs to be developed as a power figure with gentleness and wisdom yet authority and a love interest - preferably developing his wife Adelle.
Denny - I read on a spoiler that you are bringing Denny back from the dead. If so I hope you really develop his character with a strong male physical career so he isn't just a one dimensional love interest of Izzie. That will shoot down any hope of Izzie falling for Alex.
Preston Burke's MOTHER as Dianne Carroll was GREAT! I hope you bring her on for the full 3rd season. Her lines are insightful and offer a softer intervention with Christina and Preston. Since you did nothing with Burke's father, no comment can be made. Burke's parents would be good to keep on and develop for numerous episodes to push the relationship and characters of Preston and Christina along in the right direction.
I would love to see Burke and Cristina be the first to wed on GA. Hopfully this season or Season 4.
Looks like Mark has some control issues.
If the show is so damn terrible, why does she watch?
I think the writing is brilliant, by the way, and that is why I watch.
