Marcie cover's any bodies eyes when he or she riches no retainers point, in that point we stop and recalculate our steps and we ask our self's like Dr. Bailey did and ensures Dr. Yong "You just have to know. And when you don't know? No one can fault you for it. You do what you can, when you can, while you can. When you can't, you can't." For that I see Bailey's very understanding and rational character.
