Band-Aid Covers the Bullet Hole; Thanks For the Memories… Again

George O'Malley, Post-HaircutThe summer is finally winding down and the premiere of Season Three is quickly approaching. September 21 can't come fast enough, but at the very least, ABC continues to push Grey's Anatomy re-runs on its new night… twice.

At 8 p.m. Thursday, you can watch the popular "Thanks For the Memories," a Season Two Thanksgiving episode that aired pretty recently. If you haven't seen George's dad get shot in the rear end, or Cristina wish she could shoot herself amid Izzie's festiveness, this is your opportunity.

It's sad and funny, depressing and heartwarming. Definitely worth watching for the first, second or third time. Check out our episode guide by following the link above, and be sure to peruse our image gallery and list of quotes.

At 9 p.m., Grey's Anatomy fast-forwards a bit to the latter half of Season Two with "Band-Aid Covers the Bullet Hole." Desperate to bounce back and remake himself after his defeating encounter with Meredith, George (above) gives himself a haircut. It doesn't look good.

Cristina struggles for her man's attention, as does Addison. Izzie falls even harder for Denny, while Miranda struggles to balance motherhood and being Nazi-like. Also a good episode. Be sure to take a look at our guide (see link above) and complete list of quotes.

Grey’s Anatomy Emmy Fashion: Part II

While Grey's Anatomy came up short in terms of awards won, its stars made quite the impression — fashion-wise — at the Emmy Awards.

As far as Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush is concerned, two stars shone above the rest on Sunday’s Emmy red carpet.

Katherine Heigl at the Emmy Awards"It was a fashion coming out party for two stars — Evangeline Lilly and Katherine Heigl," Bush stated.

While we proclaim them the best dressed stars of the night (the Insider would pick Heigl (right) and her Grey's co-stars by a mile any day), we’ll let a true fashion expert chime in with her hits and misses from TV’s biggest night.

"The Emmy red carpet was hot! It was wild and purple reigned," proclaimed Stacy London, the host of TLC’s What Not To Wear.

Ellen Pompeo was among the beauties who made purple the color of the 2006 Emmy Awards. But it was Heigl who stole the show, going with old Hollywood glam in a stunning nude Escada gown.

And after Katherine was done bathing in the glow of the flashbulbs snapping on the red carpet, Stacy showered her with a Best Dressed Award.

"Because you rock," Stacy smiled.

Below are some more Emm Awards images we've posted of the Grey's Anatomy cast, but we've since added more, popular demand. Check out our GALLERY for more than a dozen new Emmy pics!

Interns’ Emmy Fashion Breakdown

As three female interns on Grey's Anatomy, Meredith, Izzie and Cristina are very tight knit, despite obvious personality differences. Here's a look at the trio of actresses to play them — Ellen Pompeo, Katherine Heigl and Sandra Oh — who were all on hand at last night's Emmy Awards. They all look, and are, terrific, as far as the Insider is concerned. But whose outfit is your favorite? Click to enlarge!

Grey’s Nearly Blanked at Emmy Awards

24 Wins, Grey's LosesThe action series 24, which turns one dangerous day into a season, ended Sunday with a bang as it won the Emmy Awards for outstanding drama series and best lead actor (Kiefer Sutherland, right).

Our beloved Grey's Anatomy, meanwhile, was almost shut out despite being considered a favorite in some categories.

Despite an impressive 11 nominations, Grey's picked up just one award, for Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series. Supporting actress nominees Chandra Wilson and Sandra Oh lost out to Huff's Blythe Danner, while writers Shonda Rhimes and Krista Vernoff were trumped by The Sopranos' scribes. Memorable guest stars Christina Ricci, Kate Burton and Kyle Chandler also came up short in their respective efforts.

In the end, though, who really cares? As far as the Insider is concerned, the exclusive poll on this site is the only thing that matters. Grey's fans know this show is top-notch and don't need any extra validation.

For the record, we watched the "What Have I Done to Deserve This?" repeat last night instead of the stupid Emmys. Who needs 'em? We were happy with our decision, as the episode was really good the second time.

NOTE: Anyone who saw the hilarious clips for the Season 3 premiere during the end credits last night, please share your impressions in our forum.

All was not lost, however. Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo presented early in the broadcast, and our beloved Dr. McDreamy was certainly dressed to impress. Here's a picture of the man we know and love from last night. You can thank us by leaving comments.

What Have I Done to Deserve This?

That's not a rhetorical question, just the name of the episode airing tonight. While Grey's Anatomy will be vying for multiple Emmy Awards on NBC, ABC would prefer you simply watched this repeat instead. And it's certainly tempting, even if George's awkwardness makes us cringe.

Meredith and George Make a Regrettable DecisionFans may recall that this episode takes place immediately after Meredith and George's infamous hook-up. Suddenly, the former pals find themselves dodging one another at work, and as the gossip starts filtering through the staff, Dr. O'Malley becomes more and more agitated.

Later we learn just how awkward their encounter was. This episode also marks the first appearance of Callie.

Dr. Bailey, meanwhile, has to treat Addison for an unusual problem (poison oak around the va-jay-jay, to be exact), much to the amusement of her husband, and to the sadistic delight of Mrs. McDreamy's detractors. In another news, Denny returns to SGH, Izzie cares for him, and Alex gets jealous. We all remember how that turned out.

Check out our comprehensive Episode Guide for the full rundown. We've also compiled a list of memorable quotes from the episode, of which there are many. Good luck to Chandra, Sandra, Shonda and all the other nominees at tonight's Emmys! We'll be pulling for you.

Grey’s Anatomy is Early Emmy Favorite

More Awards For Shonda & Co. Sunday?Oddsmakers are saying Grey's Anatomy is the heavy favorite to win the coveted award for Outstanding Drama Series award at Sunday's Emmy Awards.

If Grey's were to take home the crown, it would dethrone the newly-departed The West Wing in its bid for a record fifth term as prime time TV's best drama.

In addition to the classic presidential series, Grey's faces stiff competition from the critically acclaimed Fox network spy thriller, 24. Thus far, critics and fans like Grey's chances. The two remaining nominees are considered long shots in this year's Emmy drama race — the Fox hospital show House and HBO's gangster hit and past Emmy winner, The Sopranos.

Sunday's Emmys are being closely watched by the TV industry as a test of new nomination rules designed to give newcomers, lesser-rated series and smaller networks a better shot at the major categories.

One group of TV critics taking part in an odds-making poll posted on the Los Angeles Times' entertainment site, The Envelope, picked Grey's Anatomy to narrowly edge out 24. The two shows lead the way in total nominations this year, with 24 snaring an even dozen and Grey's 11.

Chandra WilsonThe most our beloved show could possibly win is nine, however, with Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson (left) both up for Outstanding Supporting Actress, and Grey's creator Shonda Rhimes going up against fellow writer Krista Vernoff for top scribe honors.

Adding an extra bit of drama to the show is the fact the ABC plans to air the blockbuster film Pirates of Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl opposite the NBC telecast, even as its medical drama looks poised to claim the top prize. Some have criticized the move, though ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson insists he scheduled the film before the Emmy nominees were revealed.

Not that we advocate you bet money on Grey's, but here are the official odds for the Outstanding Drama Series category, according to docsports.com:

  • Grey's Anatomy — 5/14
  • 24 — 4/1
  • House — 13/1
  • The West Wing — 33/1
  • The Sopranos — 33/1

According to this oddsmaker, a $10 bet on 24 would win you $40. You'd have to bet $14 just to win $5 on Grey's Anatomy, however, making it the prohibitive favorite. Here's hoping this prediction comes true — maybe our poll isn't that far off the mark after all!

Dempsey Wows Australian Audiences, Too

Patrick DempseyPatrick Dempsey is not simply hot in Hollywood, he's leaving quite the impression half a world away.

The man we have come to know as Derek "Dr. McDreamy" Shepherd in Grey's Anatomy is also a hit in Australia, where the country's best-selling newspaper, The Herald Sun, recently ran an interview with him.

It's staggering to think that, prior to landing the role of Dr. Shepherd, Dempsey's career appeared to have gone flat. He'd performed in a string of flops, including Crime & Punishment, There's No Fish Food in Heaven and Denial.

The actor, who felt like he was wallowing in mediocrity, says he kept telling himself: "I'm ugly, I'm no good, I'm a has-been."

Interestingly, as some fans may know, he auditioned for, but missed out on, the role on Fox' House M.D. Salvation for Dempsey came when he met Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes, who offered him the chance to play the male lead in a drama that would focus on the intricate and often dysfunctional lives of a bunch of surgeons.

Dempsey's imagination was captured by Rhimes' promise that Grey's would dispense with the typical racial and gender stereotypes evident in many shows. After filming the pilot, however, the Grey's cast was left to wonder if the potential of the show would be realized.

Katherine Heigl Shares Insight On Being Knocked Up (On Film)

As we've reported previously, Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl has been filming a movie in which she plays as a journalist whose life quickly goes awry after a one-night stand with a goofball named Ben. Below, Katherine shares some of her impressions of Knocked Up, which is currently in post-production and slated for a 2007 release.

On the Tone of Knocked Up: Katherine Heigl: All Smiles

"What I like about [Director] Judd [Apatow] and his style is that he's taking stuff that everybody can relate to — relationship issues and hormone issues — and kind of exaggerating it enough to be funny, but it's still honest and realistic. It takes a very sort of hard look at what it's like to be in a situation like this and make it work and try to be responsible and try to do the right thing."

"And try to be a grown-up because you're about to have a baby, but still being a child in a lot of ways. I feel like it's going to be real funny. It's kind of right up my alley as far as the humor goes, but it's also very sort of poignant and honest."

On the Knocked Up Backstory:

"It's just a one-night stand. She goes out to celebrate her promotion because they made her an on-air interviewer and she's all excited about it. She goes out with her sister to celebrate at a club downtown and has too much to drink and she brings home Ben [played by Seth Rogen]. And then I have to [contact] Ben eight weeks later via his website. She doesn't even have his cell phone number. She just has to look him up on the web. It's bad."
