Another Musical Star of Grey’s Anatomy
Yesterday, we talked about the new Grey's Anatomy video featuring the music of Snow Patrol. Today, we'd like to introduce you to another artist whose music was memorably featured on the show, Brandi Carlile.
The 24-year old singer/songwriter from rural Washington State is known for her rootsy, bell-clear voice and the pure emotion that permeates through every song.
In other words, it's no wonder the producers of Grey's Anatomy decided Brandi, whose style could be described as county and western with folk roots, was such as great fit for the show's music.
Her song "What Can I Say" was featured on the second episode of Season Two, "Enough Is Enough," while an acoustic version of "Tragedy" was showcased during the episode "Damage Case" near the end of the season. Both songs appear on her self-titled, debut album.
Follow the link here watch the scene in which "Tragedy" was featured in "Damage Case." You'll see why music plays such an integral part on Grey's Anatomy, and why industry critics such as Rolling Stone think Brandi is a young artist worth keeping an eye on.

i absolutly *lOvE* the show’s music .. you’re right it does play a big part in the show. if you watch and listen .. the music that they pick goes right along with what is happening. i love it. all i need to know is the names of the songs that they play =)
they have a list, on the right of the website under “complete song listing” if that helps!
Last nite’s music video was awful, I thought. Brandi can sing, but she sounded like a cat in heat last nite. I hated it! I love Grey’s Anatomy, and so far,the songs on there have been great. The words to “The Story” were catchy, it was just her constant high-pitched almost yelling cat calls that I hated. Sorry,Brandi.
One more thing,tho. I absolutely LOVE,love, love Grey’s Anatomy. It’s my #1 favorite show.
I absolutely have to disagree with Barb. I thought Brandi Carlile’s song was great! I loved it so much I went and bought the album, something I rarely do. I’m glad you have her doing music for Grey’s Anatomy, and I look forward to hearing more from her in the future.
i love this song!!since I listen to it I can’t stop singing!!!i think she has a great voice and i love anatomia de grey too so i think it’s nice!
